I never wear a watch. Time doesn't make any sense to me. I bought Righ a totally awesome looking Oakley Bullet watch for his birthday one year, but he hated it so I returned it.  I was gutted. I thought it was the coolest looking thing ever. Anyway, I got him sunglasses instead. Ho-hum. I found a pic of one!  Is that not the coolest watch ever? Or do I have really sucky taste? |

I've seen something like 20 states in the US, from urban to rural, and perhaps the funniest thing in all my travels was the fact that I saw the most foakley glasses and folex watches inside our nations capital, surrounding the major museums and parks and monuments. In fact I think I still have a pair somewhere around here....

Since this thread has become something actually interesting, you guys with all the pictures of watches - point me towards a good (usefull) diverswatch, that I could wear on dry land. That's all I need (i probably couldn't part with more than $1500)
(and regarding design, I like Signes watch more than Paelos')

There's something to be said about most classic technology. It's boring.
That goes for nearly everything except vacuum tubes. If I'm getting a classic watch, it's a Movado.

I didn't get the watch because of the design really, though. I got it because it will last forever. IMO, buy a really nice watch when you are young that is very well made. $3k for 50 years of use is an excellent value.

Im looking to get a Chronoswiss (expensive) or the Moonwatch Speedmaster Professional (original steel, hesalite crystal and leather strap model is still available - model 3570.50.00 ) The Moonwatch, with its technical specs and durability, as well as its history makes it very appealing. |

I had to look up those Oakley's. I'm kind of surprised that all of them (at least the analog ones) are only suitable for shallow water. Even the "Torpedo" model.  There's lots of watches suitable for diving though, but most of them seem to be in that Swiss style that you might not like (?). |

I had been buying Righ Oakley sunglasses for years and had no idea they sold watches. Neither one of us are watch people but sometimes he could use one for work and I have no idea what I did with the one he used to have. (it may have accidentally fallen in the toilet, accidentally by mistake) Anyway, I've given up and he just goes watchless. Sometimes he's late but it generally doesn't matter.

I am in the watchless camp. I need to know what time it is when I am working, and I have several sources for precise time, such as my laptop and every AIX server on our network. When I am not working, your Earth time codes are irrelevant to me. If it does come up, though, my shitty Blackberry has a reasonable grasp of what the local time is.

I'm also watchless. I hate constrictions, don't wear necklaces, rings, anything. Hell, if public nudity were acceptable, that'd be me. No cell phones, pagers. I'm a luddite, which is kinda funny for a sysadmin, I guess.
The kicker is that I'm always on time and my girl is always late, despite her wearing a watch.
