My generation would probably have to take the blame for ridiculously oversized trousers as well.

I can't throw stones at another generation when it comes to bad pants:

Aww hell, those are the shit man. By the time I was old enough to fit in them, I had to jack my brother's old pants.

I never wear a watch.  Time doesn't make any sense to me.  I bought Righ a totally awesome looking Oakley Bullet watch for his birthday one year, but he hated it so I returned it.  cry  I was gutted.  I thought it was the coolest looking thing ever.  Anyway, I got him sunglasses instead.  Ho-hum.

I found a pic of one!

Is that not the coolest watch ever?  Or do I have really sucky taste?

I like me some sunglasses too.

I love the blue GA's I bought in Florence.

How much?

I think the prices exchanges back into something around $160-$170 USD. I would have to find the receipt.

I almost bought some sick Versace glasses too, but I had to control myself.

EDIT: Possibly these, but they were cheaper in Florence

I've seen something like 20 states in the US, from urban to rural, and perhaps the funniest thing in all my travels was the fact that I saw the most foakley glasses and folex watches inside our nations capital, surrounding the major museums and parks and monuments.  In fact I think I still have a pair somewhere around here....

Who needs a watch? I have a clock in my system tray, and a clock on my cell phone on those rare occasions when I am away from my PC.

Since this thread has become something actually interesting, you guys with all the pictures of watches - point me towards a good (usefull) diverswatch, that I could wear on dry land. That's all I need (i probably couldn't part with more than $1500)
(and regarding design, I like Signes watch more than Paelos')

There's something to be said about most classic technology. It's boring.

That goes for nearly everything except vacuum tubes. If I'm getting a classic watch, it's a Movado.

I am a pretentious prick.

I didn't get the watch because of the design really, though. I got it because it will last forever. IMO, buy a really nice watch when you are young that is very well made. $3k for 50 years of use is an excellent value.

Nice watches, but since I never go on dive trips wearing a dress, I'll pass.

As long as it's not gold, a vintage pocket watch, or uses Pierce Brosnan as an endorser, I don't see how watches are for pretentious pricks.

I've got no problem with classic technology:

Im looking to get a Chronoswiss (expensive) or the Moonwatch Speedmaster Professional (original steel, hesalite crystal and leather strap model is still available - model 3570.50.00 ) The Moonwatch, with its technical specs and durability, as well as its history makes it very appealing.

Heh, my watch was ~$135 USD.

I need a nice TAG.

I had to look up those Oakley's. I'm kind of surprised that all of them (at least the analog ones) are only suitable for shallow water. Even the "Torpedo" model.  rolleyes

There's lots of watches suitable for diving though, but most of them seem to be in that Swiss style that you might not like (?).

The Seamaster Pro (as worn by Bond) is the sailors version of the Speedmaster Pro and rated to 300m/1000ft.

http://home.xnet.com/~cmaddox/mlsemp.html

The Speedmaster Pro is rated to 30m. The Speedmaster Pro is so cool, next time you watch NASA doing EVAs, check out the Speedmaster with velcro strap... on the outside of the space suit.

I had been buying Righ Oakley sunglasses for years and had no idea they sold watches.  Neither one of us are watch people but sometimes he could use one for work and I have no idea what I did with the one he used to have.  (it may have accidentally fallen in the toilet, accidentally by mistake)  Anyway, I've given up and he just goes watchless.  Sometimes he's late but it generally doesn't matter.

I am in the watchless camp.  I need to know what time it is when I am working, and I have several sources for precise time, such as my laptop and every AIX server on our network.  When I am not working, your Earth time codes are irrelevant to me.  If it does come up, though, my shitty Blackberry has a reasonable grasp of what the local time is.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

I'm also watchless. I hate constrictions, don't wear necklaces, rings, anything. Hell, if public nudity were acceptable, that'd be me. No cell phones, pagers. I'm a luddite, which is kinda funny for a sysadmin, I guess.

The kicker is that I'm always on time and my girl is always late, despite her wearing a watch.
