Too bad everyone lists FLCL yet 99% of the people who watch it have no fucking clue what it's about.

I think I've seen FLCL maybe 3 times now, but I still have no idea what is going on. It's still funny though.

My friend (you know, the one that has driven multiple people to quit WoW) was visiting last weekend and I had to get forceful with him as I explained that there was no fucking way we were going to watch a TV show while it was actually airing.  That's the first rule of TiVo.

I have had to put down the anime.  Reasons all listed in this thread.  I actually like Champloo, and I think I must be the only one.  I don't watch it much, though.  Never seen FLCL but at this juncture I don't have an inclination.  My free time is divided up amongst games only: DQVIII, EVE, the Character Selection screen of WoW, with small bits of DSII, a new Morrowind char, Forza, Stubbs, ShadowHearts (awesome game, I need to give this more time in the tray), Katamari.  No time for TV, and I have a huge number of Invader Zim on the TiVo if I ever do.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

Amen to that.  It's so nice to watch an 'hour' show in 40 minutes.

I have to say there's a pretty good selection of prime time broadcasting right now.  Currently I'm TiVoing BSG, Grey's Anatomy, Arrested Development, 24, House, The Shield and Lost.  Throw in some Good Eats and Who's Line reruns and that's about all the tv I need.  Anything else that's currently airing that really shouldn't be missed?  Not counting anime, GitS is about the only anime I've liked in the past couple of years.

Over and out.

I'l have to throw Berserk into the anime mix, I absolutely loved Berserk. Also worth checking out is Planet ES, it's the only anime drama I've seen worth watching apart from Hikaru No Go, it's very watchable once you get into it.

Or football or baseball games in under 2 hours. It's amazing how much fuckoff time there is in football and baseball broadcasts, and I don't just mean commercials.

Same with hockey. I finally wised up and set a Wish List Season Pass for Canucks games. Now I can play Eve all night, go to bed, and watch a full game in less than 2 hours. I  Heart Heart Heart Heart Heart Heart Heart Heart Heart Heart Heart Heart Heart Heart my TiVo. I think there are several body parts I would give up before giving up TiVo. I mean, who REALLY needs a spleen?

The only time it backfires is like this past Sunday, when the show I had set to record started 15 minutes late because of the football fuckoff time.

I don't get Baseball... Football I like, I'd even watch it if the other guy I know that understands it and I can comment it over beer with lived in the same zone. Basketball I watch all the NBA I can get my hands on, but Baseball is just weird. The only game I get less is Cricket (or however you spell that). I remember, a couple of years back, I was in England and got sick, so I had to watch TV all day. There was Cricket on, and I wasted like 5+ hours and still had no fucking clue what's going on...

btw a friend told me both ABC and Showtime made a bid for Arrested to buy it off Fox and air the remainder of Season 4 \o/

As a matter of fact I swallowed one of these about two hours ago and the explanation is that it is, in fact, my hand.

Some interesting rumors about DC Comics themed animation shows, including Justice League Unlimited and Teen Titans.

I've never gotten into the Teen Titans cartoon, but the JLU and the new WB Batman cartoon are both good. I'd welcome more out of that studio.

A friend of mine in the UK once told me a single game of cricket can last several days.  I thought he was pulling my leg, so I looked up some rules for cricket.

A Test match, which is the old-skool version of cricket, lasts 5 days.  Each day has 3 sessions of play, 11am - 1pm; 1.40pm - 3.40pm and 4pm - 6pm, so a full test match has 30 hours of joy and bliss (or pain if you're watching South Africa).  One-day cricket has been around 25 years, as the name implies the rules have been modified so a game is finished in one day.  In the last 2-3 years another variant has come around, called 20/20 cricket, which takes 3 hours to complete, right now its really popular, but old curmudgeons like me think its just a passing fad.

You get an extension of play if the bowlers don't bowl 15 overs (six deliveries per over) an hour too - it's frequently more than 30 hours. International tests also tend to be played in series of five matches, so you regularly have more than 150 hours of play between two teams to determine the ulimate victor.

All I learned from that scene is that apparently, in Cricket, if you smack a large mutated turtle into a bin, you're awarded 4 runs.

Not sure I ever saw that on the BBC.

Somehow I got this same effect watching curling at the last winter Olympics.  I'm actually kind of looking forward to it coming around again.

Chalk it up to a South Floridians fascination with ice.

Curling is a lovely sport to watch on hangover mornings. They talk nice and quietly, there is no huge crowd noise, and the Canadian team has a couple of decent looking women to ogle between naps.

I'm past worried about where they're going with the Baltar character on BSG, and I'm heading into annoyed.  Either just tell me he's batshit nuts, and be done with it, or relate to me what's going on in his head in some discernable way.

He is batshit insane, and/or possibly under Cylon control.  If he is being directly manipulated, they aren't really doing a great job of it, so I am going with the "off his fucking rocker" explanation.  I mean, if they were directly controlling him, why not have him detonate the nuke already?  You know, before a_sharon_00248 landed in the brig.

Its not so much he is crazy as he is a colossal egotist with a sense of self importance that even outshines his libido.
Everything he does is primarily to benefit himself.
He is the lord high narcissist of not only BSG, but possibly TV in general.  He is that self absorbed.

Why did he give Gina the nuke?  Because he felt slighted by Roslin's letter, even though to my eyes it was trying to
make him a better person.  All he saw was insults, and how DARE anyone insult him!?

The only great thing about curling is thinking about how pissed out of their scull the Scotsmen going home from the pub must have been, when they invented that game.

"We need stones width handles, RAF insignia and wee brooms....!"

I've invented weird games and competitions when drunk/stoned, but usually the rules (written in ballpoint on napkins or beermats) aren't readable and none of them has gone on to the fuckin' olympics.

The really sad part about curling is, that I think it's the only game my country has ever won at the winter olympics... and we're supposed to be Scandinavians.

I agree with all of that and still I think he is off his rocker, in addition.  Unless you hold the theory that he does have a Cylon device of some sort in his head which is the source of his visions?

I wasn't sure I was down with the Baltar-is-a-good-guy thing anyway.  I just wish these plot developments weren't getting so cliche.  And less deus ex machina, please.

I wasn't sure I was down with the Baltar-is-a-good-guy thing anyway.  I just wish these plot developments weren't getting so cliche.  And less deus ex machina, please.

That's been my only real gripe.  The Cylon-human blood = cure for cancer stuff was too easy.  I wonder if Roslin now somehow is connected to the Cylon hive-mind now that she has their blood in her.  Otherwise, that was just too much deus ex.  Same thing, IMO, with Boomer knocking out those hundreds of raiders when she hooked up to the Galactica.  Too neat, too last second, too convienent.

The week before though, I thought was perfect, especially since I called it when watching the previous episode.  "None of them goes through with it, Gina-Six gets her".  That wasn't too deux exy due to (my guess) that a Cylon wouldn't commit suicide due to it being a mortal sin and that Baltar wouldn't be able to kill the physical manifestation of his love.  The only other path for Gina would be revenge.

Baltar is just a horrible, selfish person that happens to be off his nut too. The survival of humanity means less to him than his own personal aggrandizement. The easiest example is the Cylon detector.  It worked, it told him who's a Cylon and who's not.  He just passed everyone and the Galactica nearly got blown up and Adama got shot for it.  You'd think finding out who's a Cylon model and who's not might be a fundamental thing for human survival that you might want to take a bit seriously.

Still, he's entertaining, especially when he retreats to his "fortress of insanitude".
