I started watching Rescue Me when the new season started up a few weeks ago. Wow.
This is goddamn great TV. And I never watch TV.
It's like a Greek Tragedy. The characters are generally likeable, with glaring personality flaws that insure the most fucked up results will happen. And some of the lines.....
<Dennis Leary starts laying down piles of money on his kitchen table.>
Leary: "Kids, come here. Who wants to tell me about moving to California?"
Daughter: "But.... Mommy says we can't talk about that when we're over here."
Leary: "That's why we have the money, sweetheart."
I'm really cracking up at Leary hallucinating Jesus while he's drying out. Man... "You going to make me that sandwitch or what?"

Did you see last season? Or The Shield? Or 30 Days? Nip/Tuck (though I don't watch it, it's supposed to be good)?
Hell, FX is producing some really good television with "edge" and while sometimes they go overboard on the melodrama/cursing/shock aspect, it's always generally compelling television. I worry about their lineup of comedies starting Thursday nights in August, as well as the "soldiers in Iraq" show called Over There that's starting in a few weeks. I think that the latter is just coming at the exact wrong time to be anyway respectful to our soldiers and their families.
But yeah, Rescue Me is great in that Deadwood sort of way.

Nip/Tuck is awesome if you can physically cope with eye-rolling every 15 minutes or so within the show. The Shield remains awesome, thanks to Michael Chiklis and the greatness of Vic Mackey. I'm afraid to admit I have not watched Rescue Me yet, though, and I am ashamed. Hell, I've seen Two If By See just because it had Leary so I should have watched it ages ago. I'm a bad television viewer, Nielsons will be upset...

The Best TV got canceled 3 years ago when Indiana Jones Veritas got booted off the air as Bush needed to invade our TV every 5 minutes. That said, FX is kicking ass. I bought Nip/Tuck on a fluke because it looked different and I ended up loving it (season 2 was just recently announced for DVD).

You got that one wrong, it was cancelled when Keen Eddie and Titus were shitcanned.
Yeah, Nip/Tuck has unbelievably good writing and most of the dialogue is outstanding, I just sometimes find myself hurting my eye-sockets with some of the twists they place in the show, like McNamara's son and his whole thing...

Season 2 is when I stopped watching Nip/Tuck, it just got way too damn ridiculous for me. The season 1 ending was a bit of a let down also, they'd be dead men by now. I like it that my favorite shitcanned shows show up on DVD with much rapidity. I never picked up Keen Eddie, but Wonderfalls was in my hands before the corpse was cold.

Rescue Me is definitely one of the best shows on. I have been a huge Denis Leary fan since his days on Remote Control (bet you young'uns don't even remember that!), and the writing and acting on RM are top notch. I can't believe the shit they can get away with on that show- everything except F-bombs and full frontal nudity, as far as I can tell.
Other current favs include Deadwood, Arrested Development, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Hell, I've seen Two If By See just because it had Leary so I should have watched it ages ago. Yes, but did you see "Operation: Dumbo Drop" because Leary was in it? Unless the answer is "yes", you have nothing of which to be ashamed.

I remember it.... And count it as one of the many unredeemable things MTV has given us. Don't take it personally though: I pretty much hate TV in general.

"Remote Control", yes I forgot about that. It deserves to be #1 and Puck #2. Thank you for reminding me.
That's back when Adam Sandler and Colin Quinn were funny.

I don't...not one bit. Though for years there was no MTV in my house, which may have something to do with it. Something about how my mother didn't like the objectification of women, so she had the channel blocked out.

I quit watching MTV in 85. Aside from that, the only show I have been watching with any regularity is The Closer. I find myself spending to much time watching TNT programming, think I need to just toss the TV.

I'm working my way through Season 1 on DVD right now. Some of this stuff is heart-rending....
Just watched the episode where they find the little girl underneath the collapsed sealing. Leary has a conversation with her, trying to keep her calm and tell her everything's alright.
They pull the girl out, the EMT tells Leary that the girl has a crushed spine and was killed instantly. Leary had been imagining a conversation with the girl for about 5 minutes.

Anyone been watching "30 Days"? Its by Morgan Spurlock, the same guy who did "Supersize Me". It's same idea where they pick something and have someone do it for 30 days to see what happens.
First episode was where Morgan and his wife went to Philly and tried to live for 30 days on minimum wage. They lived in a really cheap apartment with furniture from a local church charity organization. The ate beans and rice most of the time. Unfortunately even with all the scrimping they couldn't make it due to an ER visit (no health insurance) for both of them.

I've watched 30 Days since it started, and have enjoyed every episode. The only quibble I have with it is the obvious bias Spurlock has. It's not offensive, especially since I generally fall on his side of the debate on most of the shows anyway, but I can see how douchebags like Triforcer would go apopleptic on it and try saying it isn't a documentary, it's liberal propaganda.
Every one of his shows have been interesting, and he's just an entertaining guy.

Just a tad bit of bias on 30 Days?I asked the show's executive producers--all of whom worked on "The Awful Truth With Michael Moore," a cable TV show--how this could be a documentary when they had decided the outcome in advance. Wasn't it possible that Mr. Stacy would come out seeing that there isn't Islamophobia to the extent that the Muslim community claims? Might he see that there is disturbingly strong support in the Detroit-area Islamic community for terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah--a fact regularly documented even in the normally pliant Detroit media?
No, the producers told me. "Morgan wants the show to demonstrate to America that we are Islamophobic and that 9/11's biggest victims are Muslims." With this in mind, I agreed to be filmed only with final approval of my appearance, which I never gave. Thus I will not appear in Wednesday's show.

Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye! And yeah, Kari was hot, wonder what happened to her... Then again, I'm considered old, I guess. When installing a wireless network for my buddy last night, I was teasing his kid because she had no internet the night before (she's 14 or so). I got into the "back in my day, we didn't have no internet, youngin!" But I lost her with "Then again, I did run a BBS out of my bedroom..." Kids, no respect, I tell ya.
