BF2 server

Since the management here is hostile to BF2, I'd like to suggest a good server to play on, my former clan's server. Only downside is that it's not ranked due to the restrictions on ranked servers (they need to have more control than EA allows, due to competition requirements).

The clan is Fragnastika, do a search for 'frag' in the server browser. It's usually being administrated, though it's still a bit low pop due to almost everyone playing ranked servers. They are looking into getting it ranked, provided they can still host league games.

I'll hop on if they do. I just got finished with a game where three different jackasses were taking off on multi-seat choppers by themselves, leaving everyone else hanging. I also got punished for "killing" my teammate: I was driving up a road in a dune buggy, when all of a sudden some fucking tank jumps off the side bank right on top of me. For some reason he died as well, and it was "my fault". He bitched me out on chat and gave me a team kill. Wtf?


EDIT: And with all of that idiocy, we still won the match. It makes me wonder just how bad the other side was.

Another example: Just got kicked from a server for "excessive teamkilling". One of my teammates kept on shooting me, then healing me, till around the 5th time, I decided to pull out my rocket launcher and blow his ass away.

Banned.

What the hell? I guess this is how these tards are racking up extreme rank numbers...

This game is almost enough to make me quit playing online pvp altogether. I quit almost every session ready to beat someone to a bloody pulp. I guess that's how some sad losers get their jollies, ruining other's fun. Honestly, I'm more likely to just play some guitar rather than boot up my pc, thanks to BF2 and the hordes of fucktards.

Amazingly great game. I've played a few matches that have been pure gaming nirvana, got lucky enough to be on a server with two good teams, using all the tools for teamwork. But that's been the exception that proves the rule: people are for the most part total fucking douchebags.

I've made a new word: ranktards. I also got on a great server...no punishment for tk. So guess what happens? And yeah, nobody seems to realize what transport vehicles are for, and I think the only reason I ever get healed/rearmed is because the ranktards get rank points for it. I shouldn't bitch, because at least it's almost like they are playing for the team, but holy christ, when compared to the rest of their behaviour....it's just not enough.

It's hard for me to imagine how this(playing like a cockmonkey) could be fun, and my non-gamer girlfriend has been shocked by the utter amount and scope of douchebaggery she's seen watching me play BF2. She feels the same way I do: it's an incredible game, completely ruined by the majority of players.

Unfortunately, fragnastika's server has been a ghost town. Even if I had admin rights, you need players to play.

On a good server, this game is easily (EASILY) a 9/10. Unfortunately, I'm more likely to give it a 3/10 because it's all but unplayable. And I /like/ the game. Just sad.

Yeah, it's bad, but I haven't had this much fun in any game, let alone a shooter, for awhile now. I'm just trying to put up with the crap. I'm not one known to be a catass, but I've been playing like mad so I could unlock the G3. Finally got it last night, so I may play a little more casually from now on.

One gripe about the game itself: Needs more maps. It'd be nice if there were some battles on US soil too.

Tactical Gamers servers 1 and 2.

Squads are compulsory, and everyone plays the team game. Voice comms often used, at the least most people follow orders with very few lone wolfs.  Last night saw me taking part in multiple squad action defending against a combined land, water and air attack from the other side.

Did get a good game in last night. Got in a blackhawk group. With a full chopper a flag capture takes less then 5 seconds or so. With a couple engineers, and a medic and a supply person. You can fly a long time. And get some massive scores. Was a ton of fun. Plus - if you get in one of the back seats. You can throw grenades.

Or use your grenade launcher, RPG, etc. Nice touch, not making them helpless...though you can also be sniped as well.

I think copters might be a tad bit overpowered, because many dominant players are chopper pilots. That's also what a lot of the guys in my old clan do on pubs, because they can rack up so many more kills and flag caps compared to anything else in the game. Time will tell, I should work on just taking out copters for a night or two.

The anti-AA tanks are also overpowered. Get two working in tandem and its crazy. Plus. It's more fun taking out infanty with the AA gun then you can believe.

What I hate. Guy jumps into your jeep/tank whatever. Jumps out. Jumps in. Jumps out. Dies. Gives you the teamkill penalty because they run around the tank non-stop.

It could be fun to jump on TS tonight and organize a F13 squad and see if we can steamroller the opposition on some server.

I am ABSOLUTELY up for this. I bought the game on a whim Saturday, then spent about 20 hours playing it the rest of the weekend (I was busy all day Monday, or it would have been closer to 30 hours). Holy shit is it fun, but I agree about the quality of teammates on public servers.  WHY IN THE FUCK do people play support classes and then not support anyone? I followed some dipshit around asking him for ammo for 5 goddamned minutes (both on comms and by jumping around in front of him like a Ritalin-starved chimp)- no help. I eventually went on a suicide flag cap run with exactly dick for ammo.

Been having a blast playing a medic- I really get a thrill out of reviving a critted teammate under heavy fire (and then getting away without dying myself). The urban maps are the best for this- so many concentrated firefights.

I should be online by 5:30 PDT or so tonight- shall we all jump into TS and find a server to take over?

I'm so tired of the teamkill shit. I'm only guilty of certain accidents probably less than 10 or 15 times, but I always get punished. It's like, just because they "can" punish you, then they "will" punish you.

Medic unlock gun looks sweet. I might have to start playing one. The accuracy on the saw is horrid. Have to run up and gun the person down - its good for making people duck down though.

Speaking of unlocks, I went on an 'unlock test' server just to see, though I'm not close to unlocking yet (I think it's lance corporal? I'm almost PFC). I mostly play assault, because I love the m16a in single shot mode + my very favorite weapon, the grenade launcher. Not so much the newb power of the nade launcher, rather the indirect fire options it gives me. Anyway, the 'upgrade' for the assault kit...has no grenade launcher! Whawhawha?

I'll probably unlock the .50 cal sniper rifle, even if I think snipers are douchebags. It's massive. Or that jackspammer, a full auto shottie is just dreamy.

I'll jump on TS, though I have no mic (and I must scream!). I was trying to get my vocal mic working, but it wasn't so hot according to the guys who were on, and it's a shure sm58, a stage mic, with no damn mic stand...so yeah, no mic.

I'll warn you I'm pretty crappy at fps games, for all I loves 'em ;)

One other gripe. Those idiots who run into an enemy flag area, grab a vehicle - and zoom out when there is only 1 flag on your side left.

Shockeye had issues with it crashing Teamspeak. So it was removed.

There will be no BF2 server running on F13's box. DICE does not have their act together and the Linux server is full of bugs.

I thought I should give an update on what we know about this bug.

We have been working hard with this here and have found several bugs in
the networking code that could explain things. Some of the fixes were
included in the demo, which is a later build than the one we sent out to
production (2446.12 > 2442). This explains why people haven't seen the
issue as much there. Other fixes was done after 2446, and will be
included in the patch we will release "soon".

It wasn't really an issue with the speed of the internet-connection or
the speed of the machine running the server. It was rather how the
server prioritized which objects it should send updates about to which
clients. If the client doesn't receive object-updates it will try to
update their position based on the latest information it has (basic
interpolation). This makes objects behave weird when updates are not
frequent enough.

Hopefully we have fixed all issues concerning this. If not we should at
least have made things a lot better. I guess we'll see the truth of it
when we release the patch Smile

As for the Barrett, it's definitely cool, but if you don't like sniping, then you're going to kick yourself for unlocking it. At least the standard sniper rifle is a semi auto....It can be used a little bit for other types of encounters. The Barrett dishes out the most damage, but it's also bolt action. Don't expect to be doing anything but sniping with it.

The Public (free) server license only allows 8 clients.

I was going to jump on f13 TS last night, but while the eqholic was over, my mouse started with it's old lockup problem. Very intermittent, it's like interference, but there aren't any new appliances running or anything, unless it's my downstairs neighbor doing something. I was kicking some major ass (showing off for my buddy) when suddenly...no mouselook or fire! Woops, that ended the gaming session damned quick. Hopefully it was an isolated incident...but it seems to recur at the very worst times (like that black dude spitting out his mouthpiece when Chavez was going to KO him...)

I think we will get more when it gets patched into stability and the server browser is improved. The game is a HELL of a lot of fun, and the fun goes up exponenentially if you have competent teammates. Hell, even if we only had 6 or 7 folks on one side (with the rest filled in with pub server retards), we could wtfpwn a 16 v 16 game. The added goodness of an f13 server is the ability to kickban the worst of the fucktards.

Of course, we couldn't get it ranked without paying EA, so it is pretty much a moot point. Pity.

I visited there - I didn't want to lose the bottom of my screen. So I am playing at 1400x1050 stretched. (Stupid game is always 4:3 - so when you go widescreen 1680x1050 it just cuts off the bottom of the screen) I like gunning in choppers a lot so losing my field of view there really hurts.

Play the game in a 4:3 resolution. Then play it in a 16:9 resolution. Stand in the same spot and take a screenshot.

The game is still in 4:3 mode either way. Imaging you are watching a widescreen movie on a normal screen. You get black bars on the top and bottom.  Now you zoom in to get ride of those bars when you up the resolution. You then lose the sides. Basically the game is doing the same thing and you lose the top and bottom.
