Just wondering if anyone else caught this?
First episode was a few nights ago. Interesting take and makes you wonder throughout what is and isn't real. While watching the GF was saying that she had no idea what the fuck was going on.

Overall I thought it was well done and the guy playing David/Legion was good.

I am not sure how or if they will tie it in to other Marvel/X-Men stories.

This was pretty amazing, looking forward to more.  Prepared to get a Fight Club ending though.

I've got it recorded but haven't watched it yet. The guy playing David is the actor who played Matthew on Downton Abbey.

Also, this will not tie into the X-Men universe. It's a separate entity.

There seems to be a gazillion comics I've never even heard of... like this one.  Some of them seem to make really good TV.  Hopefully, this will stay good!

It was interesting, if excessively disjointed and after the first 27mins FILLED with commercials. It was kinda nice to get to hear the M word a few times.

I had it buffered on the dvr, so the commercials weren't too annoying. It was kind of all over the place, but that works for a show about Legion. I think I only read the first few collections of his book, and there were only a couple hints of them in the show. I'm at least interested enough to see where it goes, it's a different and interesting concept in the comics and they've captured some of that feel in the show.

The X-Men movies can barely tie into each other properly. Best to avoid that cluster-fuck of a continuity anyway. They have said that David's parentage will likely stay intact although if his father shows up he won't be played by any of the actors who played him in the movies.

Also the writer on this is the showrunner and main writer of the Fargo TV series (at last couple of actors in Legion were in that show as well) .

Overall I really liked the first episode. Even knowing the character there was a lot to piece together here which makes me glad they're only doing an 8 episode first season since I think it will be worth a rewatch after it wraps up.

Legion is another character I know nothing about, and I'd actually forgotten that this was an X-Men thing until about half way through I realised that Rogue was Rogue (after 15 mins trying to work out where we'd seen the actress from, and then the Fargo connections all dropped at once too).

Really enjoyed it, excellently done. Most definitely on the weekly watch list.

Edit: The internet tells me that Bill Sienkiewicz, one of my favourite comic artists, was one of the Legion creators. I'll have to see if I can find some of those comics.

For the Bill Sienkiewicz stuff you'd have to get New Mutants Classic vol. 2 (for issue 25) and vol. 3. Actual physical copies of it can be pricey but I think you can get them digitally. He's a prominent character in the Muir Island Saga but I don't think that's ever really gotten a collection outside of the Essential X-men books which aren't ideal. He also accidentally created the Age of Apocalypse timeline in the lead-up story Legion Quest. More recently he was one of the main characters in X-men Legacy vol. 2 written by Simon Spurrier.

Noah Hawley does cool shit, so I'm looking forward to where he takes this.  Also liked that one of the characters from the mental institution was "Syd Barrett".

I realised that Rogue was Rogue

Is that Rogue? I thought Rogue's powers were to absorb other mutants' powers not body swap with them? I have no comic knowledge though.

Thanks Velorath, that's very handy.

I noticed the Syd Barret name too, and in the background music playing in the scenes where they're leaving the hospital there was a threadnthat sounded a lot like something from Dark Side of the Moon. Ironic or delinerate, seeing as how that was recorded after Syd Barret was in a mental hospital barking at the walls...

And yes, you're right, it wasn't Rogue but just a character like her. Alternate reality and all that. Christ, Marvel really do shit up the whole idea of continuity, don't they?

My wife hated this. I thought it was kinda awesome. But I know the history, so there's that. Also, Aubrey Plaza.

I was hoping they'd avoid using the shortened 'Syd' and just stick with Syndey, which I still thought was way too obvious, anyway. Overall it's pretty heavy-handed and ham-fisted, I was hoping they could've done a more interesting and nuanced story....but hey, Fox. They generally suck. I was chuckling while watching the new Avengers teaser talking about structuring the Infinity Gauntlet stuff going back to the first Avengers flick and building it through all the movies since...and then there's Fox over in the corner just giggling and randomly throwing stuff into a blender. Maybe Legion is a metaphor for Fox?

Anyway. Follow SinKEVitch, he's got awesome stuff, though he's super political right now.

Don't know anything about this character but I liked the first two episodes. The first episode was kind of dull until the big thing in the middle, but after that it's been very exciting. I don't really care for superheroes much so I don't want to set myself up for disappointment later, but it definitely seems a cut above the Netflix stuff.

This doesn't seem to be superheroes so much as people with super powers. Also, it's really stylish but I shouldn't have watched the 2nd episode while tired. It can make one very drowsy.

This show is still amazing, and now it has Rachel Keller's ass.  Apparently nobody is watching it and it is highly unlikely to get a new season.  This upsets me.

So far I'm seeing no compelling reason they couldn't put this in the fox X-Men universe. If they done that, I'm betting the ratings will be a hell of a lot better.

It is a very nice ass.

But it's supposed to be confusing. All kinds of things are just not meshing, in ways that make it clear they aren't supposed to (fashions are all over the place, technology jumps from 60's to 90's to current to futuristic, and rarely matches the fashions, and that's just what I have noticed).

Yeah, it's intentional weird and the general public isn't all that good with anything not obvious.

I have a feeling this is going to be one of those cult shows that fans bother the stars about for years after.

I think so, too.  It's not confusing in a bad way, more like a Twin Peaksy way.  It's definitely not something I'd expect from Marvel.

I love this show.  Given what I know in the comics, nothing/everything/somethings/all the things could be real.  Or not.  They do pretty good on the creep factor with the bobblehead boy and fatface.  (I'm intentionally not naming suspects).

My only issue with it was that the 'you've really been in a mental hospital the whole time and everything was just your crazy delusion' trope feels a bit old. But I get the point of it here, it's not really the same old same old.
