It's out! Anyone playing? I can't because the game crashes on startup. Seems like a common problem. #BuyingNewGamesIn2015

I'm trying to play. It bluescreens my PC after 15-30 mins.

I'd like to, but the reality of my situation dictates that I wait.  MGSIV was probably my favorite console game of the previous generation.

It's a bummer, but I can wait for the technical kinks to be worked out.

There's a beta patch on Steam for Phenom II processors, which solved the crashing for me. The game's off to a cracking start!

I think I have a different issue, that's possibly not MSGV's fault, since Minecraft is also bluescreening me :-(

That aside though, I have managed about an hour of play, and have got past the very cut scene heavy and nearly interaction-free intro section. So I'm being teased with some actual game play possibilities... if I could get my PC to actually work for long enough!

Do you get the puppy as part of the story or is it hidden? Still on the first open world mission, didn't have time for more yesterday. Also couldn't find the horse poop button, which is disappointing to say the least.

So far, I'm impressed by how realistically difficult stealth is, and how easily you die once caught out. The AI seems pretty good too, I neglected to kill a guard and he ran all the way to the big base to alert the people there.

After I did my first side ops mission (translator) and was waiting for the helicopter, the little guy was running around at the pick up site. I tranqd and ballooned it, no idea if there is a more humane way to get it.

It's an incredible game. I'm playing on PS4.

When you deploy to a mission take a minute to look around your immediate landing site. There are usually several plants to harvest.

Near I think the 3rd and 4th mission deployments you will hear radio comms chatter about playing with the wildlife. This means the (tiny, cute) puppy is nearby.

Don't bother looking for him if you haven't visited your mother base yet.

This is a really good game and a great swan song for Kojima.

Sad that the shitfuckers at Konami get to keep his engine I imagine because wow people could do great stuff with it.

Once you get the medical platform, you should definitely head over there right away. Turns out one of the doors there opens and leads you to a big DAFUQ scene. Which I guess might be hinting at something plot related.

I heard both games are dangerously similar to Far Cry 3.

29 hours in an I'm at 21% completion. This game is enormous! A huge part of it is playing a mercenary company management sim, but it's well done and there's always new stuff to discover.

I gave in and did a clean install of Windows 10 today. And it worked! I can play this now! Hurrah! Managed to play for a couple of hours without a bluescreen, and reminded myself how bad I am at stealth games. I was getting super pissed off with how dark it was at night and then I discovered that I had NVG's all along.

Well, once you learn how to use Quiet it breaks the game. I'll have to try something else my next play through, because this is outrageous.

Well, I take it back, it's still really crashy. It's just not taking the entire OS with it when it goes now.

Combined with the annoying console style checkpoint save system it means I've not yet managed to clear the first village. Well, I have, about 3 times, just not quite enough to trigger the next save point  Shaking fist

What's all this stuff about Microtrans I've heard about? Intrusive? P2W? Or minor and easily ignorable? Is there a shitload of DLC in the pipe, or is it pretty much a complete game with no substantial DLC likely? Most reviews simply fellate the game, but I want to know if it's something worth picking up now or later.

It's got a freemium model for building multiplayer bases, but the servers are still too fucked to tell how it impacts the gameplay. The really shitty part is that the mp bases cost tens of dollars each and there's no alternative way to get them.

So it's settled down now and is actually playable, yay. I'm totally not going to be winning any awards for total stealthiness.

Also, is Hideo Kojima gay? Serious question, because the main characters and story are absolutely dripping with homoerotic over(under?)tones, and although I've not got Quiet yet the things I've seen about the character on the internet just make me think she's a beard.

Played this for about 6 hours or so.  2% complete  awesome, for real

Man is it pretty.  We have indeed crossed over uncanny valley.  This game has better graphics than real life.

Seems fun, too, but I wonder if I will end up wishing it was more narrative heavy like its predecessors.

Really? Wow, I find the story terrible and uninteresting. It's just so, soooo badly told. But I've always thought that about the MGS games. I've never understood why Kojima gets such props for storytelling. It's always come across as ridiculous, needlessly complicated and ponderously told to my mind.

It should be well documented by now that I have poor taste in a lot of things, and that I am quite able to suspend all disbelief and otherwise ignore gaping plot holes, bad story telling, etc.  I shut my brain off and asked to be entertained.  I have always loved Kojima's crazy bullshit.

I don't really understand this game but I've never played the series before. Its like you go around putting parachutes on guys after you stun them and they flew away and join your army or something? Also what's up with the cardboard boxes? I think I'm playing the game wrong when I just run around and shoot all the guys and then achieve the objectives

http://kotaku.com/why-quiet-wears-that-skimpy-outfit-in-metal-gear-solid-1729329735

Quote
In September of 2013, not long after the reveal of Metal Gear Solid V’s scantily-clad sniper, Quiet, director Hideo Kojima took to Twitter to talk about one of his latest creations.

“I know there’s people concerning about ‘Quiet’ but don’t worry,” he wrote in a series of messages. “I created her character as an antithesis to the women characters appeared in the past fighting game who are excessively exposed. ‘Quiet’ who doesn’t have a word will be teased in the story as well. But once you recognize the secret reason for her exposure, you will feel ashamed of your words & deeds.”

For a long time people theorized about this “secret reason for exposure.” Now that the game is out, and we’ve learned the explanation behind her outfit, are we ashamed of our words and deeds? Well...

I'm not going to write any more in case of spoilers. I'll just say that the examination is FUCKING STUPID and the article points, with video, out that somehow Quiet still does a lot of really NSFW shit, including bending over to show off her T&A, if you sit with Quiet in your helicopter for a little while despite her deeply tragic reasons for exposing all her skin. And it points out that a character in MGS III had something like the same problem and somehow HE didn't need to wear a bikini.

So after finding it out I'm sure that you will be deeply ashamed of all your comments on Quiet.
