A collaboration between some Russians and...Obsidian.   swamp poop

The Russian closed-beta has been going on since September, technical beta in "the West" just started. What I heard so far:

-- Apparently extremely theme-parky.

-- Targeting is reticule based, ie no tab-targeting/target lock.

-- Leveling one character allows progressing through all classes. Characters can switch their class, a bit like dual-spec on a WoW rogue works. All classes can switch to all other classes. So no need for alts.

Cryomancer class

Berseker class

Devblog explaining how leveling works.

Not sure if I have any interest in this, but surprised it didn't show up on F13's radar so far.

Thoughts? Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

Cryomancer. I know it's and ice wizard, but it should really be a forum title in every MMO forum ever.

Do you have any beta keys?  If not, get to playing their beta key minigame (Aelion’s Treasure).  No yah, a beta key minigame.   awesome, for real
Really though, start playing so I can have one.

They are selling three different founder packs that gives you access to beta. $20 for cheapest, $50 and you get the benefit of playing berzerker during beta, $70 and you can play berzerker and gunner during beta. Most expensive also gives you a legendary weapon, rare rings, an exclusive mount, credits, spark replicators used for character advancement in the ascension atlas rand a huge chunk of enhancement stones.

Russian p2w crap.

I have 2 keys for the next closed beta, which starts tomorrow.  If anyone wants them, let me know.

Is it a game you can solo in, or do you need to be social and group up?  'cause a key would be completely wasted on me if it requires any of the latter.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

If you only want to solo, you definitely can (at least for the first chunk of the game, who knows if that'll keep up in endgame). There's group/raid/guild war content with drops that you can't find in solo content of course, but if you don't care about that, the main "storyline" such as it is seemed entirely single player, at least for the eight or so hours I played in an earlier beta. I never grouped with anyone and didn't hit a wall.

So I've played this a bit more and have its not too bad.  Combat is sort of a cross between Tera and Neverwinter Online, with more action type combat with dodge rolling.  It is a linear type theme park set in a sci fi meets Rome setting.  I've so far been able to solo everything but you can group and have an option to makes things more challenging.  There is a cash shop and it does sell some boost items but it doesn't look to be as bad as NWO.  I still have the 2 keys if anyone wants them.

No it is not at all like Tera. It gives the illusion that moving around and aiming matters but it really does not.

I played the gunner class in Tera a lot and the gunner class in Skyforge feels very similar.  I didn't try the melee classes much so I can't comment on them.  The combat is obviously not the same between the two games they're more similar than other MMO's.

Someone gave me this so I dl'd it.  I suppose I must have two extra keys but I don't know where they are.  If I find out, I'll pass them along.

Game's out now in founder headstart, open beta kicks off next week.  It's fairly entertaining thus far playing a laser cleric.

Been playing this since the headstart, just hit my first weekly 'cap' on stuff.

I'm enjoying it thusfar, how responsive they will be with patching and so on is yet to be seen, and there is some inconsistency on tooltip labeling in the translation that is a little frustrating, some minor keybind stuff (can't rebind shift) - if they can address these and do keep up a patching pace, it could be a fun side game.

There is an infinite amount of stuff to unlock, it reminds me of Marvel Heroes a bit in that way.

This is the thing I enjoy most about the game. I always liked the FFX sphere grid and PoE skill web, etc and this is that taken to an even more ludicrous extent. I sort of question just how satisfying it's going to be in the long run though considering all of the content is constantly scaling up to meet you. As such, unlocking another x more stats is practically meaningless, outside of the prestige you gain possibly unlocking new zones. It would help if there were more build defining abilities available on the Ascension Atlas, but other than picking up new classes, it all seems pretty dry.

That's a concern for the future though. Right now it's fun working towards class unlocks, and that's going to take a long, long time.

BTW, does anyone playing this have a decent pantheon? I'm probably ahead of the curve, but I didn't min/max greatness, like a lot of the hardcores did, so I'm sitting at about 5900 prestige as a gunner.
