This last episode was outstanding. Nick Offerman stole the show as the drunken lawyer and had the best scene in the series so far. Definitely worth sticking with it this far.

But are you the King of Breakfast? Nice callbacks to O Brother (O Death, and "mater familias") and Millers Crossing.

My god this is incredible. I think this season is one of the best things I've ever seen on TV. The craftsmanship throughout it is amazing. I love the attention to detail - the wood panelling in the ambulance ffs. Someone show the BBC, this is how you do a period drama.
And who knew Kirsten Dunst was such a good actress? Some of the scenes with Dodd and Peggy in the cabin were fantastic. After she's stabbed him and Ed comes in and Dodd looks at his stab wounds then at her and then at Ed. Hilarious.

The scenes of the stabbing in the cabin were just gold. "Keep that bitch away from me." I was laughing my ass off the whole time.

Yeah, I think we're a week ahead. Next week is the finale for us.
The ending of this one though... just holy shit awesome. I can't think of a moment in either season that hasn't been top notch from the writing, to the direction to the acting all the way down.

I am so surprised that season two was actually somehow better than season one. Just amazing. I remember a network exec saying 'they probably wouldn't need an actor as good as Thornton for season two' and I assumed it was doomed. Man was I wrong.

Agree completely. These are, already, for me some of the best things I've ever seen on television.
It constantly surprised me too. I was expecting a far more bloody & violent season finale but what they delivered was so much more powerful. The Mike Milligan scene reminded me of Vic Mackey in The Shield.

I really liked the opening scene in East Germany which had Sylvester Groth in it, who was in Deutschland 83 (which is well worth watching). It seemed to only serve to illustrate what "This is a true story" might mean.

Right now, my guess is that the opening sets up a theme of identity/perception of identity. The grandfather looks like he might have secretly been a big deal SF author in the 60s/70s, the two Stussi brothers are both played by the same actor, the identity of Pete postalwaite's character (he is repeatedly asked his name, finally gives what must be an alias), etc.

This show isn't about the plot so finding things out is about #4 of the list I care about while watching it.

This season is bothering me. Emmit and Sy didn't really do anything wrong besides not doing due diligence before taking a loan, there is no reason for them not to go to the cops at the first sign of trouble. This is really lacking the driving guilt that made the prior protagonists get into deeper and deeper shit.

This last episode was pretty good. The lead female cop is starting to put things together and I like the new female cop and how she is so upbeat and friendly.
The scenes with Ray were interesting too.
I did get a little grossed out as well.

I don't think it is guilt, it is fear. Look what happened to the lawyer who just googled the guy.

Right, the point is when the karma train hits the protagonists in previous seasons it was fully deserved, they all did something fucked up and then even more fucked up things to cover up. I just don't think Emmit and Sy deserve the fucking they are going to get.

I think the original sin is cheating his brother out of the estate, not the loan.
