Sakura Spirit is a mediocre VN by a bunch of weeaboos. Avoid.

That sentence alone was like someone shit in my brain. I will avoid with delight.

What was wrong with the sentence?

A virtual novel made by weeaboos that is mediocre at best. None of those things are good in and of themselves, all combined to make a brainpan frappe of filth.

Ahh, right. Well I enjoy VNs, but (aside from KS, which also has the benefit of being free) set-in-Japan-made-by-white-people VNs are shitty in general and Sakura Spirit manages to come in below that low bar. Admittedly, I have a very strong distaste for Western-made, "anime-style" things in general.

Ha anyone tried Life is Feudal: Your Own?  It looks like a cross between Rust/7 Days to Die and Mount & Blade.  Its $40 and I'm not inclined to pay that much for an early access game.

Looks interesting. I will follow this one, but certainly won't be buying an alpha for $40.  Ohhhhh, I see.

And what's with indie games that are Windows only. Seriously? The whole point of indie games is that I can run them on my mac.

Anyone know anything about Abyss Odyssey?

Looks sort of interesting.

Abyss Odyssey is a fushigi no dungeon done in art nouveau style.  The main bit of that game type is that when you die, you start over at level 1.  It's not offensive to me but I just can't seem to get into it for some reason.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

Did not even look at it until you said Fushigi no Dungeon. At which time I realized it was ACE team. Boughted.

Adding Sunless Sea to the cart also.

Edit: Oh, Grimrock II is already out? Will wait for real sale.

Aren't the fushigi no dungeon games topdown roguelikes? Abyss Odyssey looks like a side scroller.

Yes, but ACE team is p good. They at least produce reasonably fun if mildly wanky things. And Fushigi is a descriptive.

I had some issue with the controls but otherwise Abyss is fine.  Specifically if I attack, I can't turn until after the animation completes, and I'm apparently pretty bad at that when surrounded.

So Landmark is on a 67% sale, which makes it cheap enough for me to want to check it out.

Can anyone tell me what I'm actually supposed to buy? If I click on the Settler Pack, it says that I need the base Landmark game. But I can't see the game itself anywhere.

Does it not let you buy the Settler pack?  AFAIK Landmark is going to be "free" when it launches, but you can't play it in Early Access without paying, so they have the pay option listed as DLC (i.e. the opposite of how it usually works, where you can't buy the DLC without buying the game, here you can't get the game without buying the DLC).

Cool, thanks for the clarification. The wording on the settler pack is confusing - it states you can't play it without the base game, which implies that the Settler Pack alone isn't enough. So good to know that the Settler Pack is all I need.

And yeah, it feels odd to be paying to play an incomplete version of a game that will be free down the road, but at 2/3 off, I don't mind.

Saw this too, it looked interesting.

Gods Will Be Watching is 50% off at $4.99. Worth it?

Defender's Quest. Billed as Final Fantasy Tactics meets Tower Defense, which is very relevant to my interests. Anyone know if it's worth $5? I don't think I've heard it mentioned here before.

Very interested in hearing some feedback on that as well.

I haven't played it much, but as far as I remember it's more Tower Defense than Final Fantasy Tactics.  I don't recall ever moving units or anything (meaning, instead of placing "towers" you place "units" like swordsmen, archers, etc.).  The "RPG elements" are mostly just leveling up your units and buying new skills and gear (I think?) and stuff.  It's a pretty solid game if you're in to tower defense, nothing really massively wrong with it that I recall.  It's not super amazing or anything either, though (at least, not to me, but I'm not much of a tower defense guru).  $5 seems pretty reasonable if you're into the genre.

I'm tempted to get Forest of Doom if just for the nostalgia factor.  I use to read the Fighting Fantasy books when I was younger and absolutely loved them, along with the Choose Your Adventure books.

That Forest of Doom video looks just The Shit.  I may purchase that for Nostalgia also.  I'd be very interested in the Sorcery! Quartrilogy in that engine...

Has anyone given Lords of the Fallen a whirl? I'm thinking summer Steam sale but it has me interested. I like the look of it.

I can't get excited about it. Its so obviously a wanna-be Souls game but those games are such a special blend of things that the chances of a knock off being any good seem incredibly slim.

It's gotten OK reviews but it's essentially a Dark Souls clone with a toned down difficulty and more technical issues, though at least, from what I've read, when it works its much more playable on a PC than Dark Souls is.

I picked up lords of the fallen. I wish I had waited for a steam sale. Its just a worse souls game from what Ive played so far. No real interesting loot/builds that I've seen so far.

Has anyone played "Depth" which is on sale at the moment?  Multiplayer combat thing where you play either a treasure hunting diver or a big fucking shark? Don't really do these games any more but, well, diving and sharks.  DRILLING AND MANLINESS

Gav Civ 3 is on sale for 1/2 off.  Does anyone know if it brings anything new to the space 4X table, or is it more of the same?

Is Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag worth paying $40?  It looks pretty good, but I've not played any of the AC games and not a huge fan of fighting/parkour games.

It is a good game but it's not worth it if you don't like the fighting or parkour, and just sailing around and being a pirate requires both of those.
