I agree with Merusk.  I don't understand the Cata underwater hate...clearly they've not played underwater in other games  why so serious?

Vash'jir didn't suck simply because it was underwater. It was terrible in the amount of gating and inability to go off the rails even a little bit.  The first time I did it, it was great and I had a lot of fun but every subsequent alt went to hyjal because the pace is much quicker and there are a couple spots where you alternate the routine if only a little.

That's really a complaint about Cata as an expansion, IMO.

No doubt but Vash'jir was the worst example of it.  The mechanics of the underwater zone were great but unfortunately you can't divorce it from the rest so the zone was still terrible.

I loved the underwater zone in WoW, I think people hated it because the very first area you start in is just way too packed with mobs, you can't move without getting aggro.  This combined with what was a harsh transition from one shotting wotlk mobs to suddenly having to be careful again was a bad first impression and tainted people's view of the whole thing.

The underwater mount also should have been something far cooler than "seahorse".

The Underwater zone was way too long and repetitive. Half a dozen "oh no, the Naga found our hiding cave... AGAIN".

I agree about the length. It dragged on. I think the mechanics were fine and I thought it looked pretty good. It had a cool feel; it gave the feeling that there was a lot more to Azeroth than what's on land. I found it interesting. I could be pulling this out of nowhere, but I swear I remember reading a dev quote saying they probably wouldn't do another underwater zone again.

"The Dark Below" was registered in the last day or so in Eire by the copyright firm who does all Blizzard's European law work.
So that's interesting.

Any 3d zone sucks nuts. It's almost impossible to see both above and below your character.  The game is designed to be played with the camera above and behind your character, which means you can't see above and z-axis movement is awkward as hell.

Hyjal was painfully generic where it should have been grandious and epic, Deepholm was okay until you realised you were essentially repeating the same quests three times over (once for the Earthen Ring, one for the Eathen, and once for the Earthmother), Twilight Highlands was a disjointed rush-job where decent ideas were piled up next to kill ten rats in a slap-dash manner and Uldum? Uldum was decent for the first third of the zone and then threw away all the interesting bits to do a tedious fifth-rate pastiche of Indiana Jones where your character was forced into the role of "bumbling, cowardly side-kick" while an NPC figured out the problems.

So by a process of elimination Vash'jr was the best zone.

E: It helps that Vash'jr was gorgeous.

I liked Twilight Highlands more than Vash'jr; it was a good build-up into Bastion of Twilight. Mount Hyjal was also more fun.

I don't get all the Vash'jr hate. I thought it was by far the best zone in Cataclysm. I didn't have any trouble with 3D movement or mobs. The only problem was the length. It was so different than anything else on the main continents that I thought it was great.

I also liked Vash'jr. It basically *was* broken into 3 zones, so I'm not sure why people are making that particular criticism.

It felt like a long, long, long, long, long single zone, though. At least to me. You kept thinking you were done but wait no, time to kill a zillion more naga or elementals or whatever. It was the Belsavis of WoW for me.

That was my issue with all the Cataclysm zones, though. They were all way too fucking long.

MMO Champion has pictures, I assume they're caps from the live stream.

Since Draenor is Outland, I wonder how it's going to be a new world. Time Travel?

One of the other highlights reads "Build and Upgrade your Garrison". Player Housing? The equivalent of your Tillers farm in the new xpack?

Also, updated character models. They have a before and after pic up of a Dwarf and an Orc.

Edit: I forgot, another highlight says you can "Boost to 90 and play immediately." That's great news, if you didn't already level all of your toons to 90 o.O
