I have two chances, as I see it. One, the matchups seem to favor me slightly this week, which is probably why the point projection is favoring me.
I think bigger question is whether or not Gronkowski will be able to contribute. I deliberately built this team up and set my auto-draft to ensure that I got Rodgers and Gronk (and Cruz to a lesser extent). Having him out over the past several weeks has fucked me hugely.
Victor Cruz has also completely disappeared since the Giants began their skid, so may that is my third chance.

Thanks Nebu. Turns out my first round draft pick made the difference. Rodgers went out of his mind this week.

Yah, my draft won it for me. Slow start to the season, but they came though. 1. (3) Calvin Johnson (Det - WR) 2. (18) Adrian Peterson (Min - RB) 3. (23) Andre Johnson (Hou - WR) 4. (38) Michael Turner (Atl - RB) 5. (43) Tony Romo (Dal - QB) We'll choose to ignore that #4. Not sure what I was thinking. Romo is now the 2 time defending champ.

Yeah, grats. Romo really took the Saints' D out behind the woodshed there in the 4th quarter.
I just couldn't get anything out of any of my receivers over the second half of the season. I suppose I should not have kept counting on a Giants/Cruz rebound, but I couldn't really see any other options.

Any interest in making one of them a pay league? Nothing extravagant, but maybe $25 or so? Pay top 3 spots?

I'd play for money if the scoring system were changed. QB's have too great an impact in the current system.

I disagree. That's pretty much the way the NFL is right now. The fact it's shifted away from RB's isn't the fault of the system, it's the fault of the league. The QB has the biggest impact on every real team.

While I wouldn't mind passing TD reduced to 4 or 5 if it only requires 20 yards-per-point for passing, and more penalties for fumbles (ex: fumble -1 but fumble lost -2) I'm with Paelos. Changes to only the passing QB stats (as you can't separate QB-rushing from RB-rushing) really does mess the league up. I think that is unneccessary since the league is small enough that there are enough QBs for every team to have a 300-325 and higher scoring QB. Also, those with those top 3 QBs are lacking in other places, while a league with tough passing stats will now have a QB with drastic point reductions while the other players are playing at full point values. Since I didn't feel like working this last half-hour, I've done a couple of quick comparisons to some other leagues I'm in.
These are all based on the top 10 QB of JV league (only did top 10 as I can't access the free agents which includes R Wilson who would have been #10 or #11).
JV league QB:
Slgihtly tougher league but most competitive: Used 4 point passing TD, -1 for fumbles and -2 for fumbles lost (vs 0 for fumbles and -1 for lost) but made it slightly easier in being 20 yards-per-point for passing to help traditional QBs not be hurt as badly compared to hybrids, and no negatives for sacks. tl;dr - these rules reduce the top 10 QBs average by 15 points, mostly hurts traditional QB while Hybrids aren't nearly as effected, most games were +/-10 points between the opponents.
Toughest league for QBs: Used 4 point passing TD AND 25 yards-per-point for passing. -2 for Fumble lost (vs F13 -1) no loss for a non-lost fumble, and no negatives for sacks tl;dr - these rules are the toughest which drops the average of the top 10 by 65 with traditional QBs being more impacted but also having a large impact on hybrids as well but this league had more blowouts then I've ever seen

My current money league uses the following for QB's: 4 pt thrown TD, 6 pt rushing TD, -1 sack, -1 fumble, -1 INT, 20 yds per pts gross.
We also have a 10 team league and each team must use 2 starting QB's (and 2 starting RB's). With the requirements and IDP stats the drafts are brutal.
Edit: I wonder if my bias is based on my draft strategy. In 15 years of my pay league I've never placed worse than 5th. I guess you prefer what works best for you historically.

Yeah, 10 team league and 2 starting QBs is a world of difference. IDP even more so. As for drafts and strategy - I think it can get you a good start on the season, but it won't win a season for someone. Strong free agency can overcome a strong draft imo. In two of the leagues I was in last year, I missed the drafts and didn't even set up an autodraft order. In those, I had the 6th and 7th spots but still ended up taking 3rd and 1st respectively through decent free agent transactions. The one where I took first - my starting QB for most of the year was Philip Rivers

To be fair, drafting in the middle of a snake draft will usually produce a team with the best risk/reward players. I do agree that the waiver wire separates the men from the boys. The waiver wire/free agents are where most leagues are won. That and the team that picked up the most sleepers in the late rounds of the draft.

Waiver wire separates those with kids from those without kids. I used to win with pickups, now I just hope to draft well and get lucky with injuries.
Well, that and I can expect to win the JV league every other year.

This. I am not complaining and would still totally be in on a cash league, but I have to hope my opening picks are halfway decent or I am screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewed.

It's easy to fix. Just have all players on waiver until Tuesday of the following week. That way pickups are given based on waiver rank and not who can grab them during the ongoing game.

I won last year because I hit home runs with my first 5 picks. Aaron Rodgers, Roddy White, Adrian Peterson, Miles Austin, Frank Gore. I picked up the Denver defense on the wire.

Won the JV league because the core of my draft finally started producing. Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, and Adrian Peterson. It was a slow start (lost me a lot of games) but they more than made up for it at the end. Romo also did pretty well.
Yeah, I won with Romo. Deal with it.

Romo is a perfect fantasy QB in a league that ends in Week 17. He doesn't truly shit the bed until the playoffs.
