or, The Way They Should Have Implemented RealID In the First Place Battle.Net FAQ on Battle TagsMMO ChampionThey're activating it in the D3 beta at first, but you can go into your account management right now to create a tag. This is much more like what I wanted RealID to be in the first place, so I look forward to them getting this working with WoW.

Took them long enough. Too bad everyone's moved on to WoW in Space.

From a WoW-centric perspective, perhaps. Will still be plenty useful for D3.

Kind of annoyed about name+4 and it being parallel with RealID instead of just being a facing option in it but if people might find it useful they might find it useful.

are we now officially saying that everyone's moved on to TOR fulltime? I'm pretty sure plenty of people will get bored and come back for the pandas.

I'm still playing WoW, there's just not much to talk about besides "Woooooo Heroic Progression!" And personally, my raid group's stabilized now after having a pretty heavy turn over for most of this year. We'll see how that goes when Heroics go from to .

I'm still playing, but this patch content didn't last long. DS clears are fast and the 5-mans just aren't very good. We haven't started heroic DS yet, but I can't really say I'm looking forward to it.
Here's hoping the MoP beta starts by February.
Edit: On topic - Agreed that this should have been the original functionality of RealID, but it's still nice to see it. I'll feel much more comfortable using Battletags in-game over RealID.

and the 5-mans just aren't very good. Two of the three are the best since WotLK.

They're over-scripted loot pinatas with bland fights. End-Time is the only one with any memorable fights in it. The heavy use of dialogue and scripted sequences makes them a chore to run multiple times, and the story they are trying to tell in the dungeons just isn't very good. I don't care about Jamaican Tyrande's relationship with insta-villian Illidain because that storyline was resolved two expansions ago and it's poorly written. Forcing me to relive it every time I do Well of Eternity is just going to make the flaws more obvious/grating. I wonder what the reaction to the 4.3 5-mans would have been if they handed out 353 loot instead of 378. Would people actually be praising them if they weren't being showered with huge upgrades, and the dungeons instead had to stand on their own quality?

Yeah, they should be ultra, ultra hard to allow the common riff raff to get that kinda loot.

The raid was fun but pretty easy, and the final fight isn't even the hardest one in there (for my group). I don't have any real interest in heroic modes this time because a) the gear won't help us any in the next raid zone due to another gear reset (MoP) and b) SWTOR. I'll probably keep logging in for weekly raids though, unless the whole crew jumps over to SWTOR with me.

Missing the point entirely. It's not about whether the gear is appropriate for the dungeons, it's about everyone having purple-tinted glasses on. The question was "would people still think these dungeons were awesome if they didn't have big upgrades?" The answer is probably no since the story, layout, art, and encounters in the new 5-mans are poor.

I spy someone who hasn't quite figured out that there's mechanisms in place to skip all the RP events in Sunwell. The only one that is a tedious trudge is the Thrall escort quest...which is why I said two out of three.

Tedious trudge? Come on. Amani. Never forget.

Counterpoint: The entire instance is an escort quest.

I knew about skipping the longer cinematic in Well of Eternity, but you're still waiting around for lots of small scripted scenes. Waiting for Illidan to weaken crystals, distract guards, drink moonwell water, etc. Waiting for bosses to spawn. The last fight in particular just feels like a long scripted scene because you're given busy work (kill named Night Elf who acts like a trash mob with a huge HP pool) and the majority of the damage on the boss doesn't come from you. You're just waiting for the bleed debuff to hit him enough times so that Illidan will buff you. Well of Eternity is definitely my least favorite of the Cata dungeons.
Worst part: forced to play as Night Elves for the entire dungeon.

I've run them once each (I don't need the gear) and I enjoyed the Well of Eternity quite a bit, in spite of looking like a floppy-eared child molester Night Elf the whole time. I agree though, that if I were repeatedly running it to gear up a toon, that it would get tedious pretty quick. But as a one-time event, to take in the scenery and the spectacle of that time in Azeroth's past, Well of Eternity was pretty fun. The other two didn't leave an impression on me either way.
