I'm thinking of buying Mass Effect 2 on Steam. I was wondering what DLC is available there, as I can't seem to find a way to search for it. Is all the stuff listed on the Bioware site available?

You can only buy the DLC through EA directly.

A game of the year edition with all the DLC is bound to come out sometime before ME3 is released don't you think?

Maybe? Even if it does I wouldn't necessarily expect to see it on Steam, given EA's recent relationship with them.

You could play it without the DLC. I like most of the non-equipment DLCs, but I wouldn't say the game would suffer without 'em.

At least Bioware points are sold in quantities that are needed for the DLC. So there won't be leftovers.

Steam did an overhaul of the ME2 installation a few weeks ago...most people thought this was to coincide with their redesign of the content delivery systems that would allow DLC and such to integrate better with the content and allow it to be sold via Steam.  Guess this didn't come to pass.

Yes, the scaling is the same as Microsoft Points ($1 US = 80 Points) but you can buy them in DLC-sized quantities with very few exceptions.

As for playing it without paid DLC, it's fine.  I think you miss out on one of the better characters in the game and a couple of good missions, but it's still an excellent title.

I caved and bought it on steam anyhow. I blame procrastination from study... What is the best DLC?

Kasumi? Shadow Broker? Arrival? Overlord?

Shadow Broker is the best one IMO, Kasumi is worthwhile, Arrival is pretty forgettable, and Overlord is pretty decent but do the free Cerberus Network vehicle stuff first to see if you like the vehicle well enough to buy DLC that uses it.

I'm a little higher on Kasumi than Ingmar is, but that's how I'd rank them.

Kasumi, Shadow broker, and Zaaed are the only DLC worth thinking about downloading, and tbh if I ever download ME2 again (steam decided to reorganize it to be more efficient and broke it in the process), I'd only bother with Kasumi.

Shadow broker is only a big deal if you give a shit about Liara and Zaaeed is pretty unremarkable.
