I second the Surfer recommendation. He's really good. Star Lord isn't as good, but he's still fairly good. I just think he's kind of squishy.

The hotkey thing was kind of annoying. There are ways to fix it. There's a thread in the Gameplay Guides forum with instructions on how to add keybinds. It does kind of suggest though that you should most likely only invest in 6-8 active abilities though.

I don't get the animation distance thing. For example, several characters have a skill to channel a beam and swing it across things. Off the top of my head, Ms Marvel, Iron Man and Cyclops all have the same skill with varying graphics and inexplicable different distances. Yet there are a more than a few other abilities that will freely extend beyond the viewable area, things like Storm's damage aura, Cyclops Ricochet Beam and Daredevil's Rebounding Club of awesome. I just chalk it up to 5 star vision and 3 star talent.

I'll give you the odd environment. There are somethings you can blast right through and other inexplicably indestructible potted plants.

I will say that this game is odd in that it rewards constant F2P player and sort of shafts the more casual player. For example, retcon potions, I have these coming out of my ears now, but when I started they were gold. Then there are the crafting whozits, I'm rolling in those as well.

Started up Venom yesterday. Man is he rugged once you hit his first passive. I like that you can choose resource methods, you can build to spend health or ichor. His webswing travel power has a great animation as well and continues the good trend of resource free travel powers.

There is only one or two heroes who should need more hotkeys, most abilities are just different ways of doing damage.
Yeah I generally just throw stuff like toggles on it. Maybe CC break if I'm hurting for room on the main bar.  I think Strange and pre-review Rocket were the only characters where I had active abilities on it.

I was going through my roster to get everyone up to 30 to try to get an idea who I wanted to take to 60 first.  Venom just kept on going all the way to 60, along with Surfer and X-23.  Half of me is afraid to play him and gear him up in case he gets a massive swing of the nerf bat and the other half is telling me to enjoy it while it lasts.  Although given how good the recent heroes have been I'm hoping they plan on bringing the rest of the roster up to that level and not nerfing the new ones into oblivion.

They haven't nerfed magneto or juggernaut or psylocke or ghost rider or Thor, I wouldn't worry. In fact the last character to get nerfed was surfer and they undid most of that.

You're making me want to drop money on Venom.

You Monsters.

I haven't even got ANYONE to 60 yet because of you people.

If you are considering money, I might wait to see if they expand that big pack they offer with most of the heroes. While it's a big chunk, it's certainly less expensive than piecing them out plus you get their stashes, many of the cards and a chunk of Gs for if something else shows up.

Almost anything that requires level 49 or below, vendor without remorse. The only exceptions are:
- Some visual artifacts (these) only come from events or fortune cards and may have value
- If you play a summoner, Latverian Regalia and Raptor Stone are somewhat useful, as I believe there are only 3 non-excessively-rare summon damage artifacts (not sure if this is true anymore; I don't play summoners)
- Scrolls of Pama, Mark of the Odinborn, and Pym Shrinking Serum have some really nice spirit return for low-level or lesser-geared characters who need it.

Stuff you definitely want to keep (apart from super rare boss drops):

Advanced metasensory array - this babies go to 325 generic DR 8% atk speed and +1 to all skills, a top four arti on practically everyone and drops like candy
xerogen crystal - generic DR, brutal and brutal damage, move and attack speed - not bis compared to boss drops but very good if you can't afford or won't farm those
Ziggurat of Kargul - crit chance, crit damage, a free teleport that costs a bit of health - if your character doesn't have a teleport you want this for sure, the health cost is actually a benefit since it lets you medkit at will

Who's a good bounty terminal clearer? I usually use Cyclops, but he's pretty much as geared as I'm going to get him outside of the raids for the item level and challenge upgrades, so he's getting a bit dull. Based on my leveling experience, I tried Venom for a bit. While he clears the bosses well, the big spread packs of trash can whittle him down fairly quickly. Juggernaut does the trash well, but while the running around is fun, it can be a bit tedious on ST boss fighting.

Thanks to reading this entire thread I gave MH2015 a quick run.
Got Magneto w/ my first 400 ES and am now totally hooked on this D2-like.

He friggin plays exactly how i remember from Xmen Legends 2, which I loved. I wouldn't even bring other team members as Mags was all I really needed.

Did my first Midtown Madness Monday & got myself a full Cosmic set that has the invulnerable chance plus a juggernaut medallion (more inv.)  He feels real good now.
Spamming Steel Storm when the screen is full of baddies is glorious DRILLING AND MANLINESS.

Got a couple AoA uniques & was a lil' dissapoint that there was no cosmetic change on the avatar. I guess the costumes are what keep this game free so I guess it's... ok. But damn is that all black Mags sexy as hell. I told myself I was spending no monies on a F2p... no spending dammit...

*side note* this game works fairly well in 3d stereoscopic mode w/ the Helix mod.

Cosmetic changes from items would be hilarious.  I would love to see my Iron man in his sandals of hercules and mask of algrim wielding a big ass sword.  Hell i would farm red skull until my fingers fell off to get a gun to put on hawkeye, i don't give a fuck call the cops.

What should I be keeping and not keeping? I'm a bit confused on what my gear does even when watching the 3 hour youtube video, it helped allot, but still a tad bit lost.

Crit rating, crit damage rating, hero appropriate damage rating, brutal rating, brutal damage rating are the core stats. There are some heroes that make use of odd stats, but those are the key. Depending on the item and hero, you also want to look out for look out for +skill items.

On the defensive side, you pretty much just stack health and maybe some life on hit if you need sustain. Other stats are nice to have in your kit but they almost never come in big enough chunks on gear to be worth much. At cap I generally value 1 health = 2 defense and ignore dodge and health regen entirely.

So... 2 random heroes later I get Black Widow & Hawkeye. fuk. Had I been a little more patient that could be 1 good hero.

So not being patient, I just signed up w/ another email & got me some Venom.

Other than Synergy points, is there a downside to just using another account whenever I feel like a certain hero?

You get a stacking exp bonus for every hero you level, 30% for the first 60 20% for the second 15% for third 10% for fourth and 5% for everyone after that up to 200%.  Plus yes the synergy bonuses, which are not huge but not insignificant either.  Black Widow is not top tier but she isn't terrible, actually does pretty good damage at end game now.

I liked Black Widow, but I didn't take her far and she seemed to have a lot of 'either or' powers.

There is more detail in one of his shoes than in all the original characters put together.

Well, I picked this back up last week and got Magneto to 60.  He's not too bad but he seems a bit squishy.  Now with the Omega week coming I am gonna level another, but I have no clue who to do.  I kind of wish Cable had his review already or Punisher even.

I have no idea how you chaps manage to get heroes to 60.  It's very, very grindy once you hit mid 40.

Once you get the first one that do boost really helps. As does cyclops once you finally do him.  Then you abuse the fuck out of xp boosts like omega events and the bars/ potions you randomly get.

Prior to that, yeah the first is a bit of a slog you have to either focus on or drag out by doing your legendary/ daily quests on that one hero.  It does get easier though.  Back at the Christmas event I got x23 to 58 without really trying.  At least there's industry city now which gave so many events and boss kills that those levels were flying for me. Wasn't that way when I ground out Strange last year.

Yeah, but you can't really count the Christmas Events.  That was just an explosion of loots, boosts and screamingly huge XP.

Glorious.

The last few days of Omega are bigger XP wise, aren't they? I wasn't sure what the boost was during the event.

Oh, I also forgot, get a bunch to 30 before pushing to 60.  Someone here clued me in that there's a minor Xp boost for each char at 30 in addition to the ones for 60.

The buff during the christmas thing was 100%, omega goes over 200% on the last couple days.  It takes like an hour to level to 60 just with the common boosts.
