I didn't notice that, but I haven't been in Midtown this weekend as I've only run for an hour or so to do holo sims. That's dumb, Midtown was the group hub and picking up shared quests was easier that way.

The one where you get a midtown to yourself unless you go in a group instead of it being a shared open area.
Wow that's a horrible change.

Yeah, i can see why they did it but it really misses the whole point of the zone in the first place.

The Midtown change to a private instance is listed as a known issue, it's not a permanent change

Yeah, thank god. It does make the annoying parts of the midtown SQ go fast though.

Wow, this is surprisingly fun so far. I am a special kind of nerd that never read any comic books... so Marvel, DC, whatever, they mean nothing to me; which is probably why I skipped this at release. That said, I'm kinda motivated to try to collect a few more heroes.
I haven't made it to 60 yet, but at 32 the leveling speed has been about right, which makes the game kind of attractive from the new alt/collectible sort of way. I like how things are (mostly? all?) account wide - this is something that ALL games need to do... I play the game, not my characters. I like the various synergy concepts and the many abilities. Hardly groundbreaking, but so far the "flow" seems better than D3 or POE. Hopefully keeps it up at the higher levels or my interest will flag.
I wish they would provide more info about the heroes and their abilities in the store, and I wish their questing system wasn't so hinkey... but now that I've discovered legendaries, it doesn't matter as much it did starting out.
So, mid-game $0 investment initial review: Thumbs-up.

Heh, I read the thread here and picked Storm... I wanted one hero to get to 60 (easily) to fund the collection game.
I'm ok if other heroes are clunky since I'm an Alt/Mechanics junky... I'll just play another one... but yeah, if storm is a class of one, and every other hero is a slog, the game will be dead to me. It is precisely the palying-card/collection aspect that appeals to me. If Thor sucks today, but is good tomorrow, then I'll play him tomorrow.

Storm is very middle of the pack, you'll find plenty of better and worse heroes.

Storm's a great starter hero though. She's really tough to screw up unless you just start dropping points here, there and everywhere. Looking over the starter hero list, there are a ton of bad stops on that train. Punisher and Hawkeye are god awful. Colossus and Daredevil aren't bad per se, but they are both rather dull. Black Widow is a bit confused. Luke Cage is a lot like Colossus and Daredevil, but he gets better once you can Cage Was Here everything. I've only gotten Black Panther to the mid 20s and he was kind of dull, but I think once he gets his body guards and whatever that big cat animation thing ishe'll probably be fun. I've got Captain America, but haven't ever played him so no clue there. Storm, Rocket and Torch are all solid starters though, in that order. Anyway, new code from here: http://www.tentonhammer.com/interview/marvel-heroes-2015-juggernaut-interviewUNSTOPPABLETENTONHAMMER - Valid until 12:00 PM Pacific Time on Friday, November 7.

I haven't played panther all that much but everyone says he is the best of the starter heroes, torch and colossus are solid too.

Of the starters, I've pretty much only played Captain America. He was okay, but once I got a chance to try Loki, I dropped him. I'll return to him at some point, though. He wasn't bad. I just enjoyed Loki more, and so far the new heroes I've acquired have been fun enough to where I haven't really looked back yet.

Yeah, I've been pretty pleased with him. Though I feel a bit silly running circles around bosses whenever I use his signature ability.

I had forgotten how fast Omega leveling gets with this event. I was getting 2 and sometimes three per cosmic boss with bounty hunter boxes last night.

Yep, very fun, can tear through enemies, and take a beating. He's a beast.
Though fair warning, he's not one of the free starters, so you'll either need to play with another hero to save up shards to purchase him or pay them some cash if you don't want to wait.

Going to guess that getting enough shards to unlock a character you want is a grindy unhappy affair?

Not really. It's grindy, but the idea is you should be getting them as you enjoy playing another dude. Which has worked for me.
That said, I purchased, er, one or two....

I will just buy Juggernaut if I decide to play. Thanks! Is there a Bat Country guild?

Shards drop at a rate of almost exactly one per 8 mins of playtime, heroes cost either 200/400/600 shards or 175 for a random hero box that could be a repeat.

Will take a guess and say Juggernaut is 600. So about 80 hours to unlock the game I might want to play!

Nah, only heroes that require extra work cost 600. Most heroes are at the 400 tier. Plus it takes zero hours to buy him.

For me at least, the game is all about alts and trying different characters. While I've bought heroes for cash, I've also gotten several via splinters. I don't even really track how many I have at this point, I'll just occasionally glance at the currency tab and if spend them if I've saved enough for something. The only thing that I would call a necessary cash purchase is storage. Your default bank tab will fill up very quick. While you could probably get by with one tab if all you play is Juggernaut, if you stick around for alts, you'll want more storage.
Though to be fair, I say that as someone who is a bit obsessive with the hoarding of items for eventual alts.

You really just need one crafting tab for all the runes, those will fill up a page on their own.

Also do not save crafting mats, they are very easy to get and high level ones turn into hundreds of the lower ones. Hero specific stash tabs are a cheaper way to store any hero uniques you are saving, also insignias that hero can use and any unbound uru forged item.

Mats break down as well as combine up? Didn't know that. What is a Hero Stash Tab? I was surprised when I got my 2nd hero that the "character" stash was shared.

They're STASH tabs dedicated to a specific hero, but they are fairly lenient as to what qualifies as 'hero' loot.

Also, there are splinter potions that become available every so often. I've bought a few with the 100/200 points I had left over from point package & hero purchases. They increased my splinter rate by at least 2x and last for, I think, 2 hours.
