Boss totems are really annoying. Duplicate boss totems are even more annoying.

Rocket seems to be really good for this, gotta love having an unkillable tank pet + on-demand teleport+invisibility while pewpew from range! Well okay, the "no signature for you" affix can die in a spirit-starved car fire.

Also, this happened in my very first "real" danger room (it wasn't even a boss fight, just some random mooks):
Staying out of fire has never been so fun! I tried to teleport in with medkit invul, drop a few turrets to draw aggro and teleport out. What can I say, it worked out better in my head. why so serious?

Yea those damage amp zones stack, for you AND the enemies, you can see the little buff in your buffbar on the side, it's a fist. If you can position things so your stuff is in the circle but enemies are outside, its gravy!

Otherwise, PAAAAIN.  ACK!

Just did one where it put all my movement powers on a shared six second CD. Never Again! That Affix can go into the DUMPSTER.

Giving this a whirl for some reason, despite telling myself I was done with MMOs and F2P forever.

It's quite fun so far, got a Cyclops (the Cyclops? My Cyclops? All sound wrong) up to level 18 or so, unlocked the Angel team-up thing with my day 2 login bonus. One thing annoying me however is having to wait around for quest NPCs to spawn in heavily camped areas. Is it like this all through the story areas or does it thin out later on?

Yea, some of the early 'quest' enemies tend to be camped, mainly by prestige powerlevelers since they made leveling via story quests the most effective way to do things. Grouping may work for some of them, so you can give that a shot... I usually just took a detour to Midtown for a few boss waves if there were too many people standing on the spot (especially 60s).

It doesn't apply to the teleport from the Ziggurat, so you can still teleport around if you have one!

I did some more Danger Room, and it seems that enemy types >> frenzy > map affixes >>> challenge level > map quality (common->cosmic) when it comes to difficulty. AIM and mutate enemies seem to be the most brutal, and some HYDRA units have nasty burst... others are mostly forgettable. Hazards and most enemy affixes aren't a big deal except for frenzy, and map affixes seem to vary wildly depending on hero. The first danger room I did in the screenshot above (level 30 rare with damage amp zones) was way tougher than a level 53ish cosmic with frenzy on everyone and an ignorable challenge affix (the movement cooldown)... well okay, the enemies died a little bit faster, but so did I.

I've never run into this camped quest boss problem for story mode. Be sure you have auto-join groups and / instances turned off.  If you mean certain events like Electro and Venom in the docks and Devils Alley those are side quests you can skip.

I've had camped quest mobs a lot. And only some quest objectives are tracked, others they just expect you to wander around aimlessly until you find them. swamp poop

Yes, yes it is. Though Doom can just about walk through it. Had enemies that were taking +25% damage from Energy and another +25% from Ranged who absolutely destroyed Surfer. I couldn't get past the first big pack of min-bosses without using all survivability so I said fuck it and left. Took in Doom and completed the whole damned thing with only a single defeat because I was cocky.

 awesome, for real

ALSO: I don't know how I didn't realize this before but wanted to share since I JUST figured it out. Do not waste Odin Marks on blessings for multiple heroes. Under Misc on your crafter there's a "swap blessings" option. It works on blessings for artifacts regardless of who they're bound to.

I thought it would only swap between artifacts bound to the same heroe. Nope.  Ohhhhh, I see. So now Magik has full blessings since I no longer mess with Juggernaut, and I have like 4-5 full sets of blessings I could have spent towards one of the L80 Legendaries strewn around different heroes. Goddamnit.

Well it does get kind of annoying to be swapping blessings all around any time you feel like playing a different character, plus its 100k each.  But yeah, don't buy more than one set unless you are swimming in odins.

Random tank hero 'fun factor' question!

I typically play ranged heroes only due to bad latency (thx shitty trans-atlantic internets), but I've been looking at playing a melee tank type after all the defensive changes. Somehow I ended up with both Captains (America, Marvel), Colossus, Hulk and Thing from my random boxes earlier. Which of these are the most fun to play as a tank, ie. "get in the middle of the particle effects disco and punch shit in the face until it falls over, dodging is for pansies"?

Hulk and Thing are both now tons of fun after being looked at and thought about.  Not entirely sure about 'tanky', since it doesn't really work like that, but tons of fun.  Colossus is still utter dick.  Steve Rogers is awesome.  Never played Marvel.

Sounds good! And yea, for tankiness I mostly meant just staying in melee range at all times without having to dodge everything, even if it's a 5-boss clusterfuck in MM... maybe using a defensive cooldown or a dodge for the telegraphed "fuck you" moves like Man-Ape's leap.

In my experience, Thing is stronger for just not leaving things. Note, that that is because I use the Food Cart Fling ability which spawns orbs. He can be spirit starved. I run right on the edge with needing to pop Clobbering Time every CD for the spirit refill.

The only one i can think of that is "tanky" based just on their power kit alone is war machine who has a very tanky option in their spec choices and a defensive passive that also doubles as spirit/health regen so always gets maxed.

Captain Marvel lives in the middle of all the fighting, she has a stupid amount of passive health regen, a suite of defensive passives, her sig doubles as a defensive CD, she has a on demand heal and her spirit and secondary resource bars are fueled by how much she gets hit.

The only time I need to move is to avoid the one-shot arrows and depending on the difficulty of the content, not even then.

I would pay 5000 Omega points for the "you do 25% less damage, but all your cooldowns are 50% shorter" 'debuff' to be on all the time everywhere.

4 min cooldown on my ult? 2.5 second CD on my DFA? 4 second cooldown on my room clearing PBAE? 12 Second cooldown on my signature? Fucking gimme!

I keep telling myself the reason they don't let you is that they really don't want a few hundred thousand solo instances running at the same time for multiple reasons.

Most likely it's because they don't want you to have a ton of Merits when you hit 60, so that you have to grind more.

The thing I find weird about danger room is thematic.

The game is telling us that the preset encounters we run over and over are the 'real world' while that random scenario, never the same twice, is simulation.

Weird.

Got my first character to 60 yesterday, thought I'd try out this Danger Room thing. Couldn't even get past the training. Died ~20 times on wave 3. So what're my best options for gearing up as a newb?

What challenge rating did your Danger Room have ?  I don't find the white ones to be that bad, even for undergeared blokes, and you get a guaranteed unique and tons of cosmic shit.

As a newb your problem is lack of omegas, gear is secondary to that. Best way to get more of those is level another character for more synergy bonus, run short instances in groups (taskmaster etc), do your daily quests, and do whatever the events are giving an xp multiplier for. As a new player you can probably get a fair number by looking for easy achievements that give omegas too.

Make sure you complete the story quests that reward xp pots.

I think the DR was something like 11 rating? It was definitely white. I'm probably very badly specced and a bit rubbish as well as being undergeared smiley

Thanks eldaec, I've started levelling Cyclops for the 10% XP synergy and I'm doing it mostly through following some guide that lists all the story bonuses and filling in gaps with Legendary quests.

Now that you have a 60 i recommend you do the GLF dailies and weeklies since they reward raid currency used to buy the recipes to upgrade your uniques from level 63 to 66 and 69, this actually makes a serious difference.  The severe diminishing returns and lack of many good choices make the first couple thousand omegas the most important ones.

I wondered if they were a good thing to do :)

Got Cyclops to 60 today, went so fast that I think I'll level a few more and get a feel for what I enjoy. I got some  of the 2-for-1 random hero boxes so I've got a handful of characters to play with.
