Ahhhhhh! It's the beginning of the end....of my bank account having something in it. I'm in for Sam and Max, and I really do think that this year I'll brand one side of my wallet "Property of Steam" and the other side "Property of Amazon."

Also, Steam is following in Amazon's footsteps a little bit (and possibly others before them) by giving random winners the games on their wish list. It's simple, but I always like that sort of a contest.

$9.99 for Borderlands seems like a good price point to check it out...

Seems likely you'll get at least $10 play out of it, it's not great, but it's decent.

I guess I should setup a wishlist...I'm actually having trouble thinking of 5 games on Steam right now that I really want.

I had the same trouble. New Vegas was the only thing that immediately came to mind even, and I just sort of padded out the rest of my top 5 with stuff I've been putting off trying or only would want if I got for free, heh.

Yep, exactly what I did, Civ V, New Vegas and 3 games that I would play if I got for free that currently cost over $30, but probably wouldn't care about otherwise.  Ohhhhh, I see.

I got stuck as well after adding Fallout: New Vegas and Dead Rising 2. Ended up adding:

Assassin's Creed II, even though I've been boycotting Ubisoft awesome, for real
Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale
Archon: Classic

Will probably change the last 3 after I browse around some more.

I just had to reorganize the list I already had, added a few new things. My top 5 are New Vegas, Mafia II, Gothic 4, Divinity 2, Deus Ex 3. Thought about Dead Rising 2 and the new Witcher as well. Couldn't put the Anno 1440 gold version in the wishlist, it's just a steam bundle and counts as two separate games :(

Tempted by the Alpha Protocol deal, but I just dropped $15 on WoW today, I figure AP will show up in the xmas deals.

Ugh, I shouldn't be doing this to increase my own odds, but you have to add 10 games to your wishlist to qualify for the contest.

I had to struggle to get 10 games up there. In between shit I already own via the last year's worth of steam sales and shit I'd rather play on a console. sheesh.

I just had to struggle through the site with IE6 having seizures to get 5 games on there and now I have to do 5 more? I wish I could put pre-orders on the wishlist.

Don't you guys know how to play this game?

Buy anything on the daily sale you want.
Wait until the LAST DAY to buy everything else, because it could go down in price and be a daily sale.

I'm seriously considering alpha protocolBOUGHT and I'll also be getting racetear on the last day. Prototype is fun if you like being a complete and utter dick, but I already played through the game last year.

0.27s in the video really sums up this game - your automatic response to a civilian getting too close is to shove his head through a car window. This isn't a button you press, this is just what your char does when a guy gets too close.

Here's the Destructoid review that says the same thing. Watch it, too.

Next up.

The two to get here are

Indie Story Pack for $5 which includes Racettear, Gish, and Puzzle Agent, and some other stuff, all 3 great games. This is a steal
Defense Grid for $2.50

Batman is OK I guess.

I got the Indie Pack and Deathspank (already have defense grid).  Heard good things about Deathspank from people on the forum, so figured I'd give it a shot.

I would like to thank the holiday for making my paycheck come a day early, because FUCK.

The indie story pack is a steal. Also, Kane and Lynch 2 might actually be worth a glance at 5 bucks.

$5.00 for 5 indie games?  Ummm yes.  Even if all five are terrible, I'll get my $5.00 out of them just for an afternoon checking them out.

I'd hold off on DeathSpank; the second one, Throngs of Virtue, is coming out soon, and I'd think maybe there would be a bundle deal thing in the future.

Good advice on Deathspank. I do indeed plan on buying it. But yeah, I can wait for a bundle deal. Which will likely pop up come Christmas.

Alpha Protocol get (several hours ago actually)! That game feels so much like a gamble that 7.50 is just about right.

Fuck. Me.

I even budgeted for Steam's Christmas Sales crap this year and I've still gone over-budget on games this year because of these deals Steam keeps throwing at me. Throw in the inevitable spending on the Christmas sales and I'm going to be about a year behind on shit to play, with a bunch of big games coming up (Wither 2, for example) that I'll want. Going into last year's Christmas Sale, I had 2 games from Steam. Now I have over twenty, with at least another ten coming..

Capitalism Ho!

Some more information leaked from cheap ass gamer on upcoming indie packs and single game packs.

I have picked up the Story Pack and Defense Grid. Very tempted to pick-up a a few others, but most other games I have been interested in are a bit more console-centric (Batman, Alpha Protocol) . I have been burned trying to play some of those through steam before (lost planet, deadspace).  I have been half-ass interested in trying out Cities XL and it has been "on sale" a couple of times in the last few months.  But come on....$29.99? Not picking you up to you are $9.99.

Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box 14.99    Meh
Dawn of War 2: Gold Edition 13.60              I enjoyed it, I think it's probably worth $13, there's a lot of fun in the campaign for the main game and exp.
Machinarium 5.00                                      Some say this was a fun game, for $5 I might see if they're right
Tropico 3: Gold Edition 7.50                       I personally enjoyed tropico, so this is a good deal to me
Torchlight 5.00                                        I assume everyone already owns this.
Empire: Total War 14.99                           AVOID - Napoleon total war is 900% better, wait for that to go on sale
Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead 19.99           If you like this, you might want to just get the arma bundle instead http://store.steampowered.com/sub/4639/
Blur 14.99                                              I never liked racing games
Indie Clever Pack 4.99                              World of goo is a fantastic game, VVVVVV is too, price is very right on this.

Summed up well bhodi.

This days sale feel rather meh. Some reason I'd expect today, being Black Friday, to have the most interesting sales, but this doesn't seem all that more spectacular than the other days sales. Well, at least we get two more days of sales like this.

Oh, todays pack sales are kind of nice, for those lookin for gifts. DoW II expansion if you happen to know alot of people who have the first but the not expansion. (IE, people who were gifted the original copy when the Gold Pack went on sale awhile back)

And Portal. Because if you know someone who hasn't played this game, this would be the perfect time to gift them it. I'd gift Portal to my grandmother.

Assuming Cheap Ass Gamer is accurate, I would like to get myself a copy of Just Cause 2. Does anyone else want to go in on an 8 pack? I can front the money. Obviously price unknown right now, but I would assume 15 USD or less.

Bought Torchlight, Kotor, and the Indie pack for $19.99.  Seemed the right time with no MMO's holding my interest.
