Minecraft - f13 Server is: chugging along... again (Read OP)

With MP at the moment all I really want is more stuff to build/buildwith and bug fixes.

Some time in the future when there are a lot more working features I look forward to a MP world with a much different playstyle, so that rather than everyone running to their own corner and playing lego it makes sense to actually secure the spawn and then carefully expand through teamwork through a hostile world, with some sort of meta achievements/goals available.  I have plenty of patience for this though, and this sort of server style will only compliment the free build peaceful style that should be available forever.

I have to agree. I've mostly moved on to Wurm at the moment for reasons I can't really explain, but I really do think that Wurm takes it maybe a wee bit too far in the grinding direction again.

A nice intermediate between wurm and the current minecraft would probably be good, because while it's fun to see what things look like with wurm's graphics, and the fact that you have to put so much effort into f.ex building a damn villa (I've now spent 2-3 days chopping down trees, levelling land, making planks, shafts, large nails and small nails, and I've put up all but 1 wall section, which means I've hammered in at least 220 planks so far, with up to 20 to go, of 30 seconds each), it can become TOO much.

In fact, one of the most fun (and at the same time sad) things I've done so far has been run around almost the entire freedom server and just look at what other people have either built, or built and abandoned, and marvel at how much time has been sunk into their creation which is now slowly eroding away.

While I don't dislike the style minecraft has (in fact I rather like how it's a thumb in the eye of people who whine too much about how they need the latest AAA graphics), but I would've liked it if it had
1) A bit more granularity to the height/size of the blocks
2) a bit more than +-64 blocks, for truly massive mount dongs.

My primary issue, just me, is that if it takes more effort in a game than in real life, I might as well do it in real life.  For great justice.  I'd never be able to build a stone tower or mine into granite in real life, though.

Llamacraft has some issues with lava with latest server -- people's worlds are going up in flames

I'm not so sure I'm liking the current iteration of Minecraft, even with changes (I don't know if the game itself or scripts on my server) to stop me dying and give me quick regen are limited, I'm still dying a lot from being too close to TNT or dropping really far. Luckily I'm working on the spawn area. A continuation of the area my friends have been working on, all sky high buildings or floating constructions miles and miles from spawn, is on hold for now.

I know what you mean.  I am building an area 1152 blocks square, from bedrock to 48/64 above sea level, and it's a 17 minute walk from spawn.  I'm a nervous wreck since health update.

Really it needs to be a toggle.  I'm not going to raise my tower walls for the time being, since it's on a frozen lake and all that.  Yeah, I might not punch a hole in the ice but I would rather not risk it.

I'm trying to figure out how what he said implies this?  It looks like if you buy it during beta you get the pro-order in that you get the base game when it goes live, those who bought during alpha get content updates as well after it goes live.   Thats just from reading the blog post though, there could be other information I don't have.

Also, for the weeding out thing, what?

My guess is that he made the policy before he realized how it would play out, and he didn't want to arbitrarily stop it once it was going to avoid bad press.
