Depending on who you are, the very first thing police do when they come to arrest someone is to kill all the dogs, sometimes the neighbor's dogs too. It part of procedure in some places. It's not advertised, but if a person has a warrant any dog in the house with them or a yard next door is dead if the cops come.
The guy was arrested for obstructing justice. Interesting, he didn't get within 30 feet of a cop, touch anything, there was nothing marked off, and as far as I can tell he was being arrested without warning. The guy was 100% compliant, although he did say something about "civil rights violation".
This is the same police department that apparently has a history of arresting people that record them, manufacture evidence against them, detain them for days, and harass them after release. I didn't look for it, but there's a guy from Hawthorn who has a youtube channel of phone videos he's made of them doing sketchy stuff. This particular Officer has a history of brutality, manufacturing evidence, false arrest, etc and has been responsible for millions in settlements. They were apparently trying to add Resisting Arrest to the charges.
That being said:
Dude should have rolled his windows up when he put the dog in the car. The police would have been annoyed that they had to wait an extra 30 seconds to arrest him for nothing, but fuck the police.
Really, just fuck the police. Four shots at point blank range and didn't kill it, then they just let it thrash around bleed out in the street. All those people watching who started screaming should have just started pelting them with shit. That cop didn't hesitate or think twice about who or what was nearby when he started firing.

I probably should've put that in the politics thread more I think on it. And yes, there's no way in most police depts. that guy stays employed after unloading his firearm on a crowded street for little to no reason. One ricochet and this is an even bigger tragedy.
Anyways, that video will be going viral shortly if it hasn't already (I posted it at 301 views). I got it from a political watchdog (no pun intended) down here in MIA who once jokingly ran for mayor.

I really can't understand the amount of violence the police deems necessary in the USA but that's probably mostly due to living in a small (5.4 million residents) country with relatively low amount of violence (between 2009-2012 the police here have shot a total of 5 shots that have actually hit someone)
