This is why I'm playing more and more of my games on console these days. Shitty ports. That and invasive DRM.

Conversely, this sale is why I continue to play games mainly on PC and not consoles. My PS3 doesn't randomly offer me year old games for 75% off.

Company of Heroes : Tales of Valor. 75% off. Stormrise. 75% off. King Arther - The role-playing wargame. 50% off. Jade Empire - Special edition. 75% off. Mr. Robot. 80% off.
They seem to be digging fairly deep in the dusty old cupboards.

I was thinking about Silent Hill, but I've still got RE4 on the shelf for a survival horror fix.

I guess I don't see silent hill thanks to being in Australia, though I believe its rating has been successfully challenged.
The meta-critic reviews for Stormrise are very entertaining for the intensity of the hate the game generated. I'd never actually heard of it.

For $4 I bought it because, well fuck it. Silent Hill not needed I just bought Dead Space (it is fucking awesome, what a great great idea with the menu/inv/map system) so I'm good on my horror game fix. I may by Cthulhu on the 2nd as well if its on sale.
King Arthur temps me but not for $20 since there are other things I'd rather get for $20 and I came here wondering wtf was up with Stormrise. I watched some YT and it looks cool visually but the comments are all over the place seems to have inspired a ton of hate.

How's Jade Empire?
A horribly botched opportunity to do something different than their usual Judeo-Christian "absolute good vs. absolute evil" decision choices. They pretend that their "Open Palm"/"Closed Fist" system is different but they lie. Oh and the combat sucked too. But otherwise it's a decent RPG.

Oh shit. I might buy everything in today's sale. Assuming they don't SELL OUT.
Jade Empire was great. It'll feel like proto-Dragon Age now. I enjoyed the King Arthur demo. Sort of a Total War game with quests and leveling up.

Do you like Bioware games? I do, and enjoyed it a lot. More than worth it at the price imo.

Jade Empire ran for poop on Vista and the resolutions are trash.
Edit: Haven't reinstalled in Win7 yet.

Ran ok in XP for me, there is something wonky about movement but I got used to it quickly (forget what it was, even, something about strafing iirc). Trash PC resolutions > original Xbox version.

Meh, I went ahead an ordered it. Consensus seems to be that I'll probably enjoy it as long as I'm not Trippy.

I didn't say I didn't enjoy it I bought an Xbox just to play that game. It was disappointing in many ways (some mentioned above) but I still finished it.

Jade Empire was such a Potemkin Village of a game. The gameplay was nice, but immersion was shit.

My appreciation for Jade Empire went downhill very quickly when I just realized I could spam the same one or two attacks every fight to get through everything. But it held my interest long enough to finish (maybe because it's half the length of KOTOR).

I haven't been able to figure it out yet, there seems to be a ton of debate about what platform it works on. The pc people seem to say the controls blow and the console people say its fps sucked or something. It wasn't clear, probably too late for someone to buy download install and play before the sale is over at this point.

I liked Jade Empire plenty, though it was funny that I was able to stunlock the final boss to victory untouched. No, I didn't munchkin.

From browsing the reviews it looks like the main problem was "whip select" which was trying to be a novel answer to RTS control on a console but ends up being terrible, especially on the PC. Though it sounds like the rest of the game is overall bad too. "Stormrise is one of those games that makes you wonder, "What were they thinking?" This real-time strategy game is, from top to bottom, misconceived, frustrating, frequently broken, and rarely fun. Developer Creative Assembly has built an entire product around a fundamentally flawed control scheme and neglected almost every important facet of the RTS genre. Embarrassingly busted pathfinding, infuriating interface problems, abysmal mission design, substandard visuals--these unpleasant elements and many others make the whole thing an unseemly mess." (gamespot, though most of them sound similar)."

I tried, but you (enkebesh, right?) don't show up on the recipients list. I'm guessing the region blocking applies to gifts as well?

Might be time to pull the trigger on that Eidos pack.
Could spend a lot of time in Deus Ex, Thief, Hitman, Batman, Just Cause. . sorry, where was I?
Edit: I did it. Plus Spellforce 2: Gold and Europa Universalis III Complete. Damn you Steam!

Touche' A better way to put it is that more big games on the PC are console ports, and for those it applies. I've gotten plenty of smaller games and PC-native games through this neverending Steam sale, the one before this and weekday/weekend specials.

Everything else they make seems to have major issues.

There's only 5 on sale today that I can see. Ahhhhh..... figured it out. Silent Hill Homecoming got the OFLC banstick and was released in an edited version here. Ah well, I'll just continue to wait for it to drop in price on console. Tell me more about King Arthur. For $20 during this torrent of quality for cheap it has to be pretty damned good.

I honestly go back and forth. For awhile I was into PC games because for the most part I can reinstall old games from years ago and replay them, whereas once the console goes obsolete I may or may not get backwards compatibility. The problem is that PC games are getting more retarded with their "3 install ever" type ideas and it's driving me away from PC again. When you consider that I can just insert a disc and play on a console compared to maybe spending hours tweaking shit to play on a computer it makes me lean even more towards consoles.
