If so, I've heard that it can import your "family-friendly" DLC into the game.
I'm wondering if you can also:
Import the Lego:RB tracks into RB2? Import the (non-DLC) RB2 tracks into Lego:RB?

Dunno, but my 4.5 year old daughter is running around singing "We Will Rock You" off the commercials. She's been branded and I think it's only time until she asks for it.

Yes to importing lego RB tracks into say Rock Band2, dont think you can go the opposite direction because they are trying to keep the lego one "family friendly". Songs included on LEGO Rock Band can be transfered to your hard drive to play on other Rock Band games for $10 for all but the Wii version.
PS3/Xbox 360 Version All American Rejects, "Swing, Swing" The Kooks, "Naïve" The Automatic, "Monster" KoRn, "Word Up!" Blink-182, "Aliens Exist" KT Tunstall, "Suddenly I See" Blur, "Song 2" Lostprophets, "Rooftops" Bon Jovi, "You Give Love a Bad Name" P!NK, "So What" Boys like Girls, "Thunder" The Police, "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" Bryan Adams, "Summer of 69" The Primitives, "Crash" Carl Douglas, "Kung Fu Fighting" Queen, "We Are The Champions" The Coral, "Dreaming of You" Queen, "We Will Rock You" Counting Crows, "Accidentally in Love" Rascal Flatts, "Life is a Highway" David Bowie, "Let's Dance" Ray Parker Jr., "Ghostbusters" Elton John, "Crocodile Rock" Razorlight, "Stumble and Fall" Europe, "The Final Countdown" Spin Doctors, "Two Princes" Everlife, "Real Wild Child" Spinal Tap, "Short & Sweet" Foo Fighters, "Breakout" Steve Harly, "Make Me Smile" Good Charlotte, "Girls & Boys" Sum 41, "In Too Deep" The Hives, "Tick Tick Boom!" Supergrass, "Grace" Iggy Pop, "The Passenger" Tom Petty, "Free Fallin" Incubus, "Dig" T-Rex, "Ride a White Swan" Jackson 5, "I Want You Back" Vampire Weekend, "A-Punk" Jimi Hendrix, "Fire" We the Kings, "Check Yes Juliet" Kaiser Chiefs, "Ruby" The Zutons, "Valerie" Katrina & The Waves, "Walking on Sunshine"

In a hysterical almost-coincidence, my 4.5 year-old son is running around singing "Painkiller" by Judas Priest because of my RB2 addiction (and also likely because it is one of the greatest songs ever, and even 4 year-olds recognize this as fact). For some strange reason, my wife finds it inappropriate.

As far as I know you can import songs, for the equivalent of 12 USD in live points. I need to borrow a copy off someone, which might be more difficult with a NTSC console in the UK

RB is better than GH largely because it picks songs that are FUN to play, but not necessarily songs you identify as being great songs.

Yes to Lego:RB to RB2 (for an additional cost). No for (non-DLC) RB2 to Lego:RB.
Except for the lack of multiplayer and the limited access to content, Lego:RB is a bit nicer / more polished than RB 2. Makes sense, being released so much later, and makes me want a game that combines the best of both... :) I've played through most of the L:RB tour (one last venue to unlock, I believe).
There have been a couple oddities that I suspect have probably been resolved with DLC... Songs that appeared in the L:RB store that you couldn't play in L:RB, and songs that didn't appear in the L:RB store, but you could play, if you had them.

I seem to remember seeing a blur that between RB1, 2, Lego, and overall DLC available, they are now up to over 1000 songs total. Which is nice.

Bought it. Had quite a lot of fun with our quick play of a couple of songs that ended up taking 3 or 4 hours.

Well, the dlc is simply a large mix of songs, so naturally a massive amount of it won't appeal to any given individual. Far better than GH's rather paltry selection though.

How, how, how could they have put an Iggy Pop track in a Lego game??? Fuck, I'd probably fire up regular old Rock Band if they released some Iggy/Stooges songs for it.

I've imported all my Lego Tracks into the greater Borg-like mass of my RB2 DLC.
I'm hoping though, that we get the entire Lust for Life album, as well as some other stuff. I could do with American Caesar as well.

The Final Countdown That may be reason enough for me to get it for importing to RB2.

Looking at that list, it occurs to me that the songs haven't been chosen to appeal to the core Lego demographic, they've been chosen to appeal to that demographic's fathers.

Yes, I noticed that while playing through it. It may be "family-friendly" but it's still very rock. Unlike, say, that game with Taylor Swift.

My son's been singing "Yellow Submarine" and "Come Together" for the past few weeks after playing his cousin's Beatles edition.

Currently renting this game to take it for a test drive. Despite it's silly premise and "family" stamp of approval, it is still head and shoulders above everything in the Hero series.

Why wouldn't you just use XBL do download the tracks for RB2?
As a game it sounds like pretty poor value to me. Tracks... not so bad.

That's why you rent it and dump the tracks on your HD. Come on, I'm not the only one doing this, am I?

I have thought of doing the same thing. I imagine this is partly why they put a 10 dollar price tag on it.

10 dollars for all those tracks isn't bad. I can't remember the set list, but I know there are songs there I'd pay full price for.
I don't get why they've done it that way though. I'd imagine most serious RB2 players will rent and get the tracks. 10 bucks for 50 (?) songs is cheap compared to the standard.

I dumped the songs to my HDD for RB2, but I'm keeping L:RB. According to Pennilenko, this is because I'm a thief and a jackass with an entitlement complex.

More like the only reason. I dumped the songs to my HDD for RB2, but I'm keeping L:RB.
According to Pennilenko, this is because I'm a thief and a jackass with an entitlement complex. I wouldn't go that route. I'd use the words "stupid" and "wasteful" and phrases like "unaware of the money grab rhythm games have become."

Heh. Oh Eric, I'm not even sure you know what those first two words mean. As for money grab, I do agree, but then again not particularly more than a lot of other genres. Though they do make an easier reskin.

While the rent/pay $10 for the songs for regular Rock Band option is tempting, I'm not sure any discount is worth the possibility that a Spin Doctors song might get played in my home.

At least with the RB1 -> RB2 move, it would just copy the individual songs over. You could then go into the Memory for your console and delete the songs you dislike enough not to have in your main game.

There was some talk of a one-time-use code that was needed for the song copy to RB2 and that this was included in new copies of the game. Can we confirm that this is not the case and that you can in fact rent the game, pay the 10 bucks, and copy to RB2 with no codes?

CONFIRMED Yes, there's a flyer inside the game. You use the code on the flyer at rockband.com/something and put it in along with your platform, email address and US state (despite being released in Europe and Australasia - I live in Alabama now, apparently). It then gives you another code, which you input into your XBL user profile. Could the codes from the older RB games be used and re-used?
