Possible, but the artist's "her father got pissed" story seems more likely.  Or she got pissed and isn't mentioning it since getting a tattoo while drunk probably wouldn't have gone over well either.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

I don't know... it looks kind of nice actually. And she could have quite a lucrative career at any one of the major amusement parks around the world. My question is, why the face? Thought that sorta tattoo was confined to the insane and the ex-con population (which are not really that distinct)?

I call bullshit. When I got tatted on my chest, and they approached the ribcage area, it was a while body reverberation. Now apply this to a skill. Yeah.

Second, I very seriously doubt that any professional tattoo artiest working in a studio is going to "just do a few more" considering how most are paid. That shit ain't free. If he was just some guy, and did not work at a parlor, then WTF was she expecting?

Ya, I'm thinking she got what she asked for and then later realized it wasn't what she thought it would look like. Or someone made fun of her. Or whatever else caused her to regret her decision.

Why would a tattoo artist do 12 times the work for the same price? Falling asleep during a face tattoo that was supposed to take 10-15 minutes.  swamp poop She got a retarded tattoo while probably high on crack her parents/bf were horrified so she makes up a stupid story.

I couldn't make it past the opening statements of the stuptarded panel on the clip. What a bunch of raging douches, I really need to get into that line of work once I get better at keeping a straight face while spewing forth garbage.

I've got ink in weird spots, but I've never once fallen asleep during them.

His work looked like shit, too.  Half those stars were really crusty.  Looked like he damaged the dermis more than he needed to.

Depends on the artist.  One of my friends was getting a pretty simple grim reaper done but the guy really got into it and did some very intricate cross-hatched shading and other touches.  Though he still only did it with permission and did tell him explicitly to not worry about the extra time as it was on him.

Gonna have to go with bullshit regret story on this one.  While the tats I've gotten weren't super painful, there's no fucking way I'm sleeping through it.  Hell, I'd have liked to have gone to sleep for the last one, as I was pretty fucking tired.

Getting tattooed right over your eye?  Shit no, she wasn't asleep.  She's just stupid, and from the looks of it, chose a shitty artist, or the dude did a shitty job because she was being a douche.

For reference, my latest tattoo

And if she slept through that whole thing then I'm fucking Jessica Alba.

It's bullshit and the only part I don't understand (I can accept a kid doing something stupid and telling lies to their parents) is the media picking this up and making a story out of it.

She chose a stupid tattoo and instead of having something awesome (chicks with ink are hot) she went for some stars that make the golden arches if you look at them the right way.

Unless she goes into pron this is just a bad decision on many levels for her.

That story triggered a debate about changing the legislation surrounding tattoo's here. They are debating a mandatory two day waiting period for tattoos done to hands or the face and a signed contract describing the design and placement in detail before any tattooing is done.

The French guy who did the tattoo (picture below) is getting some flack from the tattoo artist community because few artists will do such large facial work so readily on young people due to the life long consequences.

It's bullshit and the only part I don't understand (I can accept a kid doing something stupid and telling lies to their parents) is the media picking this up and making a story out of it.

Here is why the media picked up on this and made a story out of it: You clicked on it. CLICKS = MONEY. People making message board threads to discuss stupid stories = MONEY. All the people reading the thread click on the story. They go and make threads on other message boards. People email it to their tattooed friends, who click on it. It snowballs into a gargantuan clickfest.

The more you click, the more money Rupert Murdoch makes. So online news editors like me are paid to find more stories like this.

Read up on CPM/CPI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cost_per_mille http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cost_Per_Impression

Get it? The advertiser pays a rate per 1000 clicks on the page where their ad is shown to people. That is, they pay for clicks on the story, not clicks on the ad.

Most high-traffic sites sell ad space using CPM, not just the news media. But it just so happens that sensationalised news stories are one of the things people will click on most. A story like this will generate more clicks on its own than an entire website full of good, honest, worthy news. Because people don't click as much on the worthy stuff.

The stupidest thing is the people who discuss the poor journalism ON THE STORY PAGE ITSELF. They debate it for days, posting comment after comment, refreshing to read other people's comments, i.e. c l i c k i n g.

Controversy makes clicks. Dubious stories make clicks. The best thing is, you run a shitty story like this, then the real facts come out a few days later and all the people who clicked on the original shitty story return for the real story, maybe taking a look at the original story again, i.e. c l i c k i n g.

Other online media outlets pick it up as an attributed rewrite, milking it for clicks from their own readers. Commercial TV networks pick it up because it makes people watch (freaky pictures), and for them it's similar: eyeballs on the ads. Newspapers and magazines do it too.

Everything works the same as my "Recruiter told not to hire WoW players" thread.

All kinds of good points...
Hrm,

You are right. I'm going to see if I can resist the urge to click stupid 'news' stories that I am emailed, etc. so I don't feed that system. Any time I find a good one that I just have to share, I'm going to full quote the story and save people the link. It's fun for a few seconds to laugh at stupid -- but feeding the system that encourages it isn't worth the yuks.

Take a look at the anatomy of that news page. You've got a video to watch, earlier stories to read, and 200+ comments to read and respond to. Most of which are along the lines of "why did the media even cover this?". None of these people realise they are answering their own question :)

Oh, but this isn't over yet. Everybody involved is doing their utmost to generate as much follow-up stories as possible. At least these people are doing their best to jumpstart the economy, one pageview at a time.
On saturday, her dad, uncle, mom's latest boyfriend rearranged the tattoo shop and threatened to tear the tattoo artist a new one if he didn't pay for the removal of said tattoo (10k-15k € if you want it done right).
On sunday she gave a couple of interviews admitting she changed her mind after her dad, uncle, mom's latest boyfriend freaked out when he saw her new tattoo.
On monday her lawyer told her to STFU but it was too late and the tattoo artist (who isn't flattered by sunlight, see below) will sue for damages and slander This morning, the tattoo shop across the street of where she got her 56 stars announced Kimberley will be giving a workshop on Friday on the dangers of choosing the wrong kind of tattoo for you. I shit you not.
