It looks like the Eagles are making a move on the small fort in their county, due west of us. Fort Apocalypse II is a small fort owned by some alliance (HA?). They're friendly with Rock Ridge according to their info, but frankly we should do whatever we can to piss on the Eagles I reckon. I'll be heading out to defense later; it'll be a good opportunity to test the Fort XP and item loot system. Battle is in 22 hours or so.

Rock Ridge guys asked us to help defend tomorrow seems HA Little Rock are their mates.

Losers don't get XP rewards afaik, so considering attackers rarely win defending seems to be a good idea.

I'm confused, weren't HA installed in that fort by an Eagles/HA attack that we defended against?  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

No more than I compadre, but I'm gonna roll with the free XP direction, I wouldn't be surprised if we fight alongside the Eagles though. On the plus side we should get to shoot at those thankless furry fucks.

I'm bad at reading between the lines.  Are we attacking or defending?

So many people showed up to defend, I decided to move myself from a building over to the wall.  Come join me!

Got in, and chilling next to Hawkbit. Looks like this is going to be a wash for the defense at this rate.

I'll never understand why some people sit on the flag at the beginning of the battle.  Otherwise, we've got a real strong formation going.

Is there an easy way to see how many players are on each side? 208 people at the fort and it appears like 50-60 on defense?

Closer to 100 people defending, actually.

Edit: Hey, we have 11 people here.  Go, team!

12.

Word of warning. . you need some manky ports opened up for the flash battle app to work.  My employer blocks them so I had to drop onto the wireless network for the last battle.  Unfortunately, they go so quick that I was dead by the time I figured it out.

The help file seems a little ambiguous. Both hiding and leadership bonus's are applied regardless of the team. While stamina is only applied if on the attackers?

The help file is confusing as hell, but it does say very clearly that each shoot or dodge attempt uses three skills.  My reading of it is thus:

Shooting while attacking uses Leadership + Stamina + Aim.
Dodging while attacking uses Leadership + Stamina + Dodge.
Shooting while defending uses Leadership + Hiding + Aim.
Dodging while defending uses Leadership + Hiding + Dodge.

Hence:

Leadership is good for everything all the time.
Stamina is good for everything while attacking.
Hiding is good for everything while defending.
Aim is good for shooting all the time.
Dodge is good for dodging all the time.

Heartbreak strange to see like half of the players vanish when the battle starts, fucking up the positions.

Wow, so it literally lets everyone position themselves and doesn't show you who's likely to get kicked?  That is absolutely ridiculous, half the people on the wall disappeared.

43xp was a little underwhelming.

I picked a bad starting position though (rear left tower) and only actually hit one person during the whole thing.

The damage cap based on targets health is pretty shit as well, especially considering you cant choose targets.

102xp, grey +8 swimming hat.  Not shabby though, it's good to have a little incentive to defend up.

Cocksucker Tirion promptly attacks me as im wearing fort gear. KO's me, how in the fuck does he hit me so consistently so hard with the level of toughness he has?!? Another guy tried to attack me an instant later, obviously preying on the fort participants.

I only count 71 attackers

The xp isn't amazing, but isn't bad I guess, puts it on a par with a 50%ish job. Still a nice added bonus for fighting.

My feeling right now is that forts may be too strong defensively. The attackers generally have the advantage of being able to focus power at a point, but the bonuses awarded by the fort seem pretty strong. I suspect that unless the attackers can rush a corner, and take advantage of having more people in close range than the defenders (who are generally more dispersed) they don't stand much chance. I suspect that on offense our best strategy would be to stack up tight in the bottom-left or bottom-right corners as this gives us as much strength while keeping us as far away from as many defenders as possible. From there, zerg the nearest tower, then head along the walls.

Since each person can only fire at one square per round, and there's no spash damage, or damage on misses that I have seen, spreading out seems to have no advantage, but diminishes your power at a point by putting your players further from the people you want to focus fire on.
