Dropped some more barbed wire off; there's now 5 in the Resource Stock.
Going to do some other jobs but will hit up the barbed wire again tomorrow.

Good stuff. I'm just back from a post-KO nap so I'll put another couple of hours into the Gates which should take them from 2 to 2.5 most likely.

Been awhile but here:
Jbona ======= I think that if your duelers stopped being cowards and ONLY preying on DEFENSELESS builders with NO dueling skills and a weak weapon, then you would not be such a hated group, and you would not be constantly being KO'd by everyone around you.
I told Quantrillo that if he thinks he has the courage (which I HIGHLY DOUBT he or ANYONE else in your town does), I will leave myself out of a hotel with $5000 on me for him to TRY to take from me. And I am no "fake" builder. You will regularly see me Building A Fort, Firefighting, Drilling For Oil, and doing Town/Fort Construction.
I DARE ANY OF YOU TO COME TRY ME. It seems only my obviously pure builders get any attacks from you guys, and then you RUN to a hotel with your tail between your legs.
You are ALL a bunch of cowards, and should feel pathetic for feeling the need to play that way.
Lorekeep ======== I bet you put more time into writing that then I spent reading it.
Welcome to The West!

Jbona sent me a telegram called "Hey Tough Guy" saying "Come hit ME, coward". So I replied:
Big bugs have little bugs Upon their backs to bite them. Little bugs have littler bugs. And so, ad infinitum.
In other words, if I'm a coward, your soldiers are whatever makes cowards seem brave. Good day.
Then I blocked him because I anticipated a lengthy whine in reply.

Chief smelly BS knocked me out again, 8 hits for 120 damage, ouch. Once I got all my duelling gear, I am going to redistribute my points for some asskicking... *shakes his fist*

Gotta leave town for a while. I'm too busy to even queue jobs cause of RL work. I got home and queue 2 jobs and collapsed to bed. Goddamit. I might re-spec to full worker stats or something.

What's the level cut off for dueling? 20 over? Seems like a huge range.
I'm gonna drop out of town for a bit, as I'm on vacation and out of town the rest of the week. I'll be back on Monday, with a fort gun!

I think it's based on your duelling level. And duelling level only seems to go up so if you win any battles at all eventually you are fighting people well over your level.

Yah I was looking at dueling level. My Dueling level is 59 but I keep getting hit by one guy at dueling level 76. (I'm actual level 39 they are level 49).
Ah well, at least it's only 1 or 2 guys that can really wail on me!

I'm impressed that you hit him every time like that. Or was he just not dodging at all?

With that kind of damage, I'd wager he was not dodging. His weapon was max 85.

Just started an hour on Headquarters with the Granite I managed to pick up. We're still desperately short of barbed wire though. Is there any point trying to get more when my motivation for that job is really low?

I was getting Barbed wire when my motivation was down to 60-70% or so; so I assume motivation only primarily affects XP and monetary rewards. Obviously this is based on a tiny sample size and should only be taken as anecdotal.
I'll be back grinding barbed wire when I can.

Headquarters needs a granite and one more hour of work for the next level. I'm putting an hour into the Protective Barrier now after which I'll spend the last of my energy trying to get some more Barbed Wire. My 48 hour immunity expires soon so I won't be building again until after I get KOed.

That Schizo guy is one of those Melee resist builds they switch dodge off on every round as it doubles your aim for the next round. Also they don't tend to put any points in dodge or charisma just pump aim, tough, reflex vigor.

I have a granite, putting in one hour on HQ now. I'll go look for barbed wire after.

Just aim, reflex and vigor - the FOTM build that is rampant on W7 & W8 (and presumably W9) largely as a result of one quested weapon. Toughness gives half resist value against ranged attacks, reflex gives half resist value against melee. So they get their toughness from strength, put points in vigor, reflex and aim each level and end up with equal resists.

Hernando's sword is a supremely retarded item; especially since I recently realised that I am now ineligible to get it through a choice I made 15 levels ago. This games quest system is beyond retarded.

I don't think motivation matters when you're just farming items. I got 2 this morning in a 2 hour job at 70.

Do Tactics and Appearance have a significant impact on dueling strength or are they inferior to other stats?

Secondary at best, both stats have utility beyond just dueling unlike dodge/aim,they also exist in greater amounts on lesser leveled gear. Also unlike aim/dodge they are not ubiquitous in duels. Maybe combined with a premium soldier bonus tactics may near the same value of aim/dodge, but i highly doubt it.

Virtually all the FoM people I get duelled by these days are melee builds.

They are basically inferior yes as you can only use on or the other depending on whether you be defending or attacking. If hey enough they can help reduce your odds of getting hit by gimping your opponents aim, tactics is worth double to a premium soldier so that's always good to have at a reasonable level.

I've been putting all my attribute points into Charisma for a long time, and tossing the rest of my skill points into Aim/Shoot and various other dueling skills. I get fucked hard by melee weapons, though.

Dex focused but a similar outcome. When I see an attacker hitting me for about 150-200% of what I'm doing I already know he has melee weapons. And I can't spare points for meaningful investments into tactics and appearance because I need high shooting for jobs and to get through their high resistance.
I'm hoping it might balance out a bit at higher levels because there's some stupid high vigor gear in this game and some insanely good low level strength jobs (picking agaves) that have given them a level advantage. Though that might just be optimisim and lack of willingness to re-roll / respec.
