NPCs don't change how they hit you each round. If you're having trouble beating him, adjust your defenses to match up with where you are being hit, and change the attack pattern you're using. After 2 or 3 different setups you should be able to get him.

I'd love for that to be the case, but he hits me in places I dodge away from about 50% of the time, and he takes half my life per hit, so . . .

hay guyz.

Pick a construction project and stick to it.

1. Mortician (on virtue that it's just about done)
2. Tailor 2 (on virtue that it's just about done)
3. Town Hall 3
4. Residences 4

The dueling mechanic in this game is a piece of crap. I just almost killed myself by hitting the duel button 3 times in row trying to complete a quest because it didn't tell me I was losing hit points.

I did kill myself, lost my wad of $250 and a day spent resting.

It stinks.

It's not the dueling mechanic, it's the fact that the header doesn't update with your life/xp/etc after you do stuff.  It's a significantly less irritating, but still irritating, problem with gaining xp.

I log out/in after most everything.  The refresh rate sucks and it is important for us to know levels of xp/health/energy and such.

Hm relogging shouldn't be necessary though. Doesn't it update if you go to, say, your character sheet?

Also, we're out of money. Oh, and uhmm that other thing is done, whatever it was.

You can see what it has for sale without being in town. You just can't actually buy anything.

Hmmm, nothing that I haven't seen dropped occasionally (like the shirt I'm wearing). Shoes are decent. Level 3 looks to yield better stuff.

You can't see the most recent two levels. Only level 1 up to current level -2.

In town you can see the lot.

I was sticking to the original list. Mortician is now done, and we should focus on the town hall for one more level.

Got corn & steak, so lack of donkey is now holding back 170xp. If I can get a quick in/out to town I can knock that out and deposit a further $320 for building things.

Getting the donkey would be great.

Am I the only person who cannot seem to get one of those indian necklaces?  Getting one would make some of this so much easier...

Yes, I found the blue one on one of my very early quests and it's awesome.  I've seen some of the big towns selling them in their stores if you really want one and are willing to pay cash for it.

Awesome, finally some decent footwear. I hadn't gotten any boots upgrades except for one quest.

Walking to town now. Once I sell duplicate and low level weapons, I should have $500 to donate.

Any policy on dueling?  I just lost my first duel to an higher lvl dueler.  Can I start dueling random town, would it cause a diplomatic incident for Bat County?

Wow.  I don't know what workers are supposed to do vs soldiers and duelers.  I hope there is diminishing return based on your dueling lvl.

Not complaining, it's easy money and good xp.

My level is 18.  So is my dueling level, despite the fact that I have no skills in dueling at all.
