Why does anything this guy says surprise me anymore?

Rickey Williams is apparently studying to be an Indian healer, studying a form of medicine called Ayurveda, something I am completely ignorant about.

Quote from: Goodhealthnyou.com
Ayurveda is the Vedic system of health care that developed in India over 5000 years ago. A gift of the Gods, it was codified by the sage-physician Charaka and the sage-surgeon Shushruta. This ancient science is health, not disease, specific and takes into account the patient's entire personality - body, mind and spirit.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

Quote from: The Science of Medical Marijuana
Literature from ancient India describes similar medical conditions for which various marijuana preparations were used. One commentator notes that marijuana "has been intimately associated with magical, medical, religious and social customs in India for thousands of years." Sushruta, an ancient Indian healer, recommended marijuana to relieve congestion and as part of a cure for fevers. Ayurveda, a traditional Hindu system of medicine practiced in India since the first century A.D., cites marijuana as an appetite stimulant, a digestive aid, a pain reliever and a sleeping potion.

No wonder Mr. Williams is interested.

Ahhhh, so I should have said Rickey Williams - KRISHNA! instead of Shaman. I forget Indian isn't used to describe Native Americans anymore.

Sounds like Guru Williams won't be running from scrimmage anytime soon. His agent sounds pissed.

In other news, the NHL still makes me want to vomit blood. Perhaps some dope would open the player's minds towards a cap.

Wait, it gets fucking better.

Rickey Williams close to being reinstated.

Rumor has it that a deal is close to being done that would reinstate him at the end of the year, he would serve a 4-game suspension, then come back next year with his Dolphins' contract being enforced. Meaning, the Dolphins would trade him to some team, because I don't see any Dolphin wanting to suit up next to him.

When your team is 1-9, you'd suit up with the Devil himself. Ricky is the only thing that might save that teams offensive woes. Miami is second to last in points for (only the Skins are worse) and they have a -70 point margin PF/PA (3rd worst next to Oakland and SF). They haven't even crested 900 rushing yards on the season after 10 games, and they only have 4 rushing TDs.

And they'll trade him if he comes back?

Yep. Most of the Dolphins' players and front office wants nothing from Rickey but the $8 million signing bonus he owes them. Another team will want him, and they can probably get something decent in return.

Ricky still doesn't want to play. His most recent quotes showcase that pretty clearly.

Quote from: Shaman King
Williams' agent, Leigh Steinberg, and his attorney, David Cornwell, both think it's likely that he'll return to football next year. Steinberg calls Williams' departure "a sabbatical.'' But Williams said, "I understand their wishful thinking. It's easy math. If I play, it puts more money in their pocket.''

Yes. Presumably for a decent RB, or a draft pick that they can use on a decent RB. This time, one without a propensity for rockin the bong.

Bring the noise.

A few weeks ago they were talking about Williams on ESPNews, and to be honest I have more respect for him now that I know that one of the reasons he takes pot is that it helps him with his anxieties. I suffer from anxieties myself and if I thought pot would help me without any side effects I'd take a few hits too.

Would you do it if one of the side effects was losing 30 million dollars for playing football?

Ol Ricky may end up in the CFL, you watch.

As far as the NHL, this should really be a seperate thread, but fuck the players. I'm disgusted every time I see one of them on TV trying to give some kind of lame explanation for their side. It makes me want to vomit pathetic.

Just come out and say "Hey we like making lots of fucking money and really couldn't give less of a shit about the fans or anything other than ourselves", and I'll at least respect you for being honest.

Mr. Williams is pretty honest about his situation. His stance is "Hey, me rikey drugs and I'm fairly nuts" - and everyone is pretty ok with that.

Ricky Williams' career as a football player may be over after he decided not to accept a proposal to re-enter the NFL and serve a four-game suspension for violations of the drug policy, according to his attorney, David Cornwell.

Does anyone still care?

Only for the comedic possibilities.

I wonder how long a Vedic doctor would take to pay back $8 million?

About 4 reincarnations, assuming he doesn't come back as a toilet brush.
