Supposed to be on Sunday.  With Tom Welling making his first ever Comic-Con appearance.

Did they do the reveal at Comic-Con yet? I'm surprised personally that Time Warner is going to let them do this after all these years.

At this point, it's the least of their worries regarding Superman.

Yeah, let TW be Superman on TV.  Then after a year or two bring out a new Superman movie to re-start the franchise.  Hey, we'll get Abrams to direct, it'll be a smash!  Let's have lunch! Call me! Luv ya!

They need to start production on a Superman movie by 2011, but plans for really rebuilding the franchise might be a bit premature until they see what they can work out with Siegel and Shuster's heirs in 2013.

Well they didn't do a reveal of the costume like it was rumored was going to happen, but they did show him in the costume on the season 9 preview clips.

Also looks like they are going for a Season 10.

Also there's going to be a Chloe-Lois sex scene.   DRILLING AND MANLINESS

I like the outfit, and the fact they didn't just jump him into the iconic uniform.  I mean really... have to admit the Superman outfit is kinda gay looking.

Okay so my doubts about TW granting usage rights of the Superman trademarks and copyrights weren't unfounded as they aren't using the "Superman" costume.

It's still very similar to the black Superman costume used in the comics though.

I can't tell what the S looks like on his chest from the video. If it is in fact the Superman stylized "S" then they would've had to have gotten permission from TW for that and maybe TW and the Siegel heirs worked something out.

I'm pretty sure it's the Superman-S. They've been using that symbol a lot, like on rings and hieroglyphs and such. I can't imagine they'd be blocked entirely from using it. If they are, then TW needs to get crackin' and sue them for the past eight years of throwin' it around!

The biggest flaw of Superman as a character for television is that the costume, while iconic at the time he was conceived in the 30s, simply has not aged well, and looks pretty ridiculous on film (though I concede he can be made to look pretty good in print)

I honestly thought the point of the "Death of Superman" storyline was to revamp him, and I really liked the black costumn they had him in for a while. But they shoved him back in the red and blue for whatever reason.

That costume they have in the show looks pretty good, though you cant see it clearly

Alot of this stuff was because of the original showrunners Gough and Millar.  They were the ones that never wanted to see him in the suit or flying.  Since they haven't been part of the show since season 7 that has pretty much changed.

TW lost the rights to the "Superboy" IP (which is separate from the "Superman" IP) in 2006 when a judge reverted the rights back to the Siegel heirs (since Joe Siegel is dead). The Siegel heirs claim that they own the rights to Superboy properties from 2004 on (the date the Judge backdated their rights reversion to) including the Smallville episodes made since that point. TW of course disagrees so there's been this contention since that point over who owns the Superboy character on the show.

Interesting. Since the show started in 2001, that would mean he was Superboy only through 2004. Buuuuuut I'm sure that's been brought up already in their wacky proceedings.

And I agree the red and blue look good in comics. I think the black or the white ones look lame because of the medium. But in TV or film, the black or the white would be just fine.

Is that some Kryptonian cross between a trenchcoat and a smoking jacket?

It's supposed to be his first attempt at a costume.  I mean even if I had superpowers, I would not be jumping into a friggin skintight body suit.

How is that even an attempt at a costume?  Just because he slapped the s-shield on it in what looks like chalk or spraypaint?  If not for that, it would just be a picture of Clark Kent getting ready for a night on the town.  Hell, even with the S I'm sure most people would just assume it's some sort of designer label.

Well it plays into the whole issue of how do you hide the secret identity of a man who doesn't wear a mask.

Wow, they really borrowing from the Superman comic recent plot lines. Not a lot of ham in this episode but could have done without the Clark still can't fly bits.

Its the horrible balancing act of creating most of villains while he is still a teenager while at the same time trying to fulfill the cannon of a 30 year old superman....I don't expect the angst to go away sadly.

8 fucking seasons.

I loved this show when it first came out. But god-DAMN. They've turned it into the "How close can he get to being Superman without acually being Superman" retardo-show.
