It has Bruce Campbell, which should be enough to make anyone want to watch this show.

First season was great, this second season is starting off a tad slow.  Plenty of cameos by Tricia Helfer and a really evil Michael Shanks to make it interesting.

Sort of reminds me of Simon & Simon.

It's so hammy, but it kind of makes it endearing. I enjoy it.

Plus - Bruce!  DRILLING AND MANLINESS

It's fun and campy.  I had no idea that Michael Shanks could play such an evil fucker after years of being Dr. Jackson, but he pulled it off well.   Definitely agree about this season though - it feels a bit off its game and I'm not entirely sure why.

USA has had trouble keeping a good thing going for years, and the half hour format doesn't really allow for any sort of complex writing whatsoever. But I'm not sure there's a single writer for USA that could do "complex." Burn Notice only worked for me because I watched it in 2 sittings. Otherwise it was entirely pedestrian. Shame, really, because uhhhh Bruce.

One of my favorite shows. This season is a little slow so far, but not so bad. I think they are trying to figure out where to take the overarching plot.

Edit: This is an hour show, not 1/2 hour.

Half-hour? It's an hour long show.

I love it. It's another one of those House like shows that is interesting not because of the problem of the week, but because of the chemistry of the characters. It's the modern-day Equalizer with a cooler main character and actor, and Bruce. They are definitely doling out the main arc bits in dribs and drabs, but that's likely a consequence of having to write X number of shows.

Michael Donovan (the main star) was in Touching Evil for a season on USA a few years before this, and that show getting canceled was a crime. This one really highlights his talents.

I rarely look forward to anything on TV.  I always expect the worst and I'm very nearly almost never disappointed!

I watched most of season 1, missed most of season 2. I swear season 2 lasted about 2 months.

Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Finally saw this show after seeing the adverts the last year or so; I always forget it's on.  Caught the pilot and ep2 on hulu tonight.

Love it.

Season 1 will be a box set buy when/if it comes out.

I saw a couple of these a while ago and it was good and caught another episode recently.  I don't know what season it was and I also never remember it enough to actually look for it.  I don't LOVE it, but it was pretty entertaining and if I had a memory, I'd continue watching.  I can see renting each season but I wouldn't go so far as to own it even though Bruce is in it.  I love Bruce.  Gabrielle Anwar, not so much.  Besides being really good at the Tango, she is and has always been a very mediocre actor.  On the low end of mediocre, actually.

Kept seeing ads for this during Monk and Psych and always thought it looked interesting, but never bothered adding a season pass for it.  But now ads for the new season are on and Bruce fucking Campbell?!  Nobody tells me these things!

Now I have to figure out how to catch up.

The narration which explains the bleeding obvious a dozen times each episode is dreadful. The show never really gets funny. It never really gets exciting. The characters are paper thin and the scripts are rubbish. I'm not sure how everybody puts up with this nonsense. Its the skinny bint, isn't it?

It is fun to watch.  Any other hyperbole you'd like to use over something you aren't forced to consume?

To maybe clarify my point, did/do you react the same way to Mr. and Mrs. Smith?

It's fun to watch, but a bit campy and perhaps shallow. I can't help but find myself entertained by it though.

I'm not sure what this series has to do with one of Hitchcock's weaker films. But guess what dipstick, not everybody is going to enjoy the same things as you, and sometimes they might want to share their opinion.

Before you deign to climb down from your mountain-throne of enlightenment and bestow upon me the TRUTH, I'd like to clarify I was talking about the Doug Liman action/comedy flick with Brad Pitt.  It doesn't take itself seriously at all, and doesn't expect the viewer to either.  Burn Notice has a lot in common with it, I feel.  I guess the blatantly-obvious, gratuitous transition shots of bikini-clad miami residents didn't tip you off that they're trying to have fun.

You were the one that was pondering on how anybody could like the show.

I'm not sure how everybody puts up with this nonsense.

Don't be surprised if those of us peasants who do like the show give you our answer.  Don't worry, though, because we won't ask you to like it.  What if the worst were to happen and you saw something in a different light and OH MY BLEEDING JESUS GOD!!!!!11...you ended up enjoying yourself?  Well, shit, that would certainly make your condescension seem a bit silly, similar to classic Dr. Who fanatics talking shit about Red Dwarf and vice versa.

I eagerly look forward to your biting riposte, full of bitter-tasting truth nuggets from the God-King-Emperor of Serious Business on the Internet.

Dipstick.

Not sure how you read all that into it. I merely wondered why it was popular. You were the one who flew off the handle and accused me of hyperbole. So you like a low brow show. I like plenty too. I don't get all defensive about it when other people can't understand why. Idiot.

The "skinny bint" is actually the worst part of the show. The other characters are great and it has Bruce Campbell which goes a long way with some of us.

No, I understand that a lot of people misinterpret what I say as pompous, overbearing and elitist. I can confirm that it's not my intent, but I can't do a lot about it short of taking hours to write what I could otherwise say in minutes. I was educated in an elitist school by pompous overbearing pricks. If that makes me a prick to people reading what I write online, I can accept that. The best I can do is apologise for any hurt feelings.

But I still think the show is rubbish and the narration is downright irritating. Bruce Campbell can't save it for me because his part is too minor and he's not given much to work with.

The narration kind of reminds me of McGyver so I don't mind it. I kind of enjoy knowing what the main character is thinking. Different strokes and all that I guess.

I actually think it is one of the cleverer aspects of the show.  It deconstructs the spy business from the commonly held viewpoint that it must consist of loads of highly specialised training and intricate, convoluted machinations.  Instead, it's really more just a bunch of common sense rules to live by that are SO common sense that most people don't think to use them.  When the tactics are described out loud, you want to say, "well duh," but in reality the average joe wouldn't think to do this stuff.  Or, at the very least, they wouldn't think that something that simple and straightforward would work.

I like show. Fun good. What I this language you others use?

It has the conventions of many modern snacking shows. You're ONLY supposed to be entertained for 42 minutes. You're not suppose to overthink it. You're not supposed to talk about it the next day. You're supposed to have escapist fun and then forget about it.

In my opinion anyway smiley

I agree.  It's entertaining.  It's light.  There's nothing deep about it.  If I notice it, I'll watch but I don't look for it.  I love Bruce Campbell but he's really not on that much.  Everyone else is mostly just okay, except for Anwar - she's awful.

I find the show very entertaining. If you're picking apart the show with any kind of "intelligence" then your nose is too far up in the air and your brow is a bit too high for it. It's like a weekly tribute to 80's action flicks. Not meant to be anything outside of fun to watch.

The same can be said really for those who try to attribute some kind of deep meaning to shows that are obviously nothing more than a bit of sometimes entertaining fluff.  Sometimes I have to laugh at professional critics because of this.  I once read a really involved review of The Simpsons, complete with metaphors and references to psychoanalytic theories.

What I love is that it really sets the spy up as a conman who is paid by the government. Honestly, most of what he does is cons with a little physical violence at times.

Sadly this show is now losing out, Other family member goes watches Private Practice or ER(last season nostalgia), I watch Eleventh Hour(hoping we get more conspiracies or evil plots instead of random occurences needed to be explained) So its sad but Burn Notice just gets/got shuffled to you are 3rd/4th TV option at that time, and now that I've missed a few weeks and backlogged on story your pretty much done for and cancelled.
