It's funny how easy you can really make some of these.  Not that it was hard by any stretch, but my first ever run at "around the bend" was stupidly complicated and required many attempts to make work.  And then I when for the minimal approach.

That is WAY too complicated, delete that worthless piece of wood.

Lol, I'll be darned, it did still work.  My brain just assumes that friction is at work, but it clearly isn't.  Anyway, I added another one-piecer above, and I refuse to believe that removing the stick is going to be possible.

And it's probably been done, but here's a one piece Mission to Mars:

And here's the simplest Four Balls I can come up with.  I bet it can be reduced further:

There is definitely friction; the vehicles wouldn't work otherwise.  There's just no air resistance or microscopic imperfections.

You are right, of course.  Maybe it's more accurate to say that the friction that is present is not as robust as it could be.  Or maybe there is a better word for it.

If you roll a marble across a really smooth floor, it'll keep going for a good long time.  The forces most likely to stop it are air resistance (assuming the air in the room is generally still and not moving along with the marble) and small imperfections in the marble, floor, or both (tiny dents, bits of dust, a sticky spot, anything that might result in a slight collision and redirection or reduction of momentum rather than a perfectly smooth contact).

The game world exists in a vacuum.  All of its round objects are perfectly round, and all of its flat surfaces perfectly flat.  And the wheels have an infinite power source that will accelerate them to arbitrarily high speeds if there's no resistance.  Those are the main things that make some models seem "unrealistic".

Not a "minimalist" solution in number of pieces, but an All Sticks Full Up

Another game to try sometime: Gravity Pods.

Pretty sure it's doable with one piece w/o a connection, but I just can't get it myself at the moment.

Fun solution with the unpowered catapault, nice one.

That gravity game was easy, then I hit level 15 and now I have to think a little. Ah, got it. Hmm, the ones after it are easy again...

Uhm, there's a thread somewhere about this game. We played it for a couple of weeks, sharing designs and what not. Not sure where it was, but its worth checking out, some very smart people in f13.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe
