Just played through the demo as the berserker and found it to be a lot more fun.  Felt a little faster paced and I was actually able to complete the arenas without much problem.

All I know is that the demo convinced me that it is the game I was expecting and I reserved a copy.

Just finished the demo up and I liked it quite a bit.  It's nothing ground-breaking, but I've been in the mood for a beat-'em-up for a while now (I'd been considering loading MUA up again), and this seemed to fill that desire pretty well.  Near the end I was getting a pretty strong Hellgate: London in caverns vibe from the game, although that's a good thing for the most part.

My main complaints are related to the ranged combat and the sword slide.  The sword slide is awesome, but I never got a feel for what my range actually was.

Unless some friends pick it up at launch as well I probably won't buy it off the bat, but it's sitting at the top of my GameFly queue, so that's something.

I am so utterly pissed that this game bored me to tears. Honestly, it's just hard for me to like any game that's requires use of the offset analogs. I can't explain why. But there's a reason I like Stardust HD more than Geometry Wars. It's bothered me since the early days of dual analog sticks. I realize Microsoft didn't want to be Sony, but that's really the most annoying of changes. :( :( :(

It's a problem I don't normally verbalize because it's my fault for not getting attuned to them. But fuck, after Katamari on the PS2 and then the 360, my brain is wired to hate offset sticks. It was a bad enough issue for me on the Xbox (original) and now it's only amplified by a thousand.

I guess thats just opinion. I love the offset. Especially for my left thumb. I find the stick in a much better place than the ps3 sticks.

I finally got around to trying the demo. It sure didnt blow my skirts up or anything, and I am not sold on the "slide" mechanic for melee combat, but I had fun enough to want to pick the game up for some XBL Coop.

I had a few issues with the demo:

I can already see that the plot and dialogue are going to elicit nothing but eye rolls, sighs and the desire to hold up a giant sign that says "GET ON WITH IT".  Voice acting seemed poor, and the dialog, due mostly to the wacky ass subject matter, was just stupid.  All I wanted them to do was shut the fuck up and let me get back to killing shit.

There did not seem to be sufficient feedback when taking damage.  All of the sudden see "Oh hey, low on HP".  I didn't even know I was getting hit in some situations.  And I had no idea what to do when I jumped up on that big robot's back.  It wouldn't let me swing, shoot or anything.  I tried to avoid getting shook off, nada.

Other than that, I didn't didn't love the control scheme, but I didn't hate it.  Action was fun.  Loot was neat. Seemed like something that would be worth a play.

I agree about the dialog. I found that if you mash every button on the controller it will skip it.

I don't know why I'm as excited for this game as I am. As for the slide mechanic, did anyone ever play Phantasy Star Online? That used button combat in an online dungeon crawl blah blah blah... whatever, it fucking put me to sleep everytime.

Some notable slide control games that worked: Amped 2, Fight Night Round 3, and Rockstar Table Tennis. Everyone complains about games just being more of the same but when a developer comes along and introduces a new mechanic, people get up in arms and declare it broken at the demo stage.

Sure you could probably go through the demo never initiating an advanced attack move, just sliding along from enemy to enemy and clear it without much effort. However, when you meet up with your buddy on live, your sure to want to show off your gear and your most flashy attacks. Speaking of gear, another complaint from some of the preview "reviews" was about the lack of character appearance customization. How many times have we seen games where you select everything down to chin dimples in a game, only to slap a helmet on your guy halfway through the first zone, level, stage, whatever.

The only thing tats got me bummed is knowing the amount of time I'm going to have to spend researching weather or not to pick human or cybernetic skill trees, it basically changes the entire gameplay...

I agree about the dialog. I found that if you mash every button on the controller it will skip it.

or if you RTFM you will see that there is a specific button (X) just for skipping the scenes. (except for the ones you control your character through like the elevator thing or the forest place)

Demos have manuals!?

Have you tried the internet? It's made out of millions of people missing the point of everything and then getting angry about it

Demos have manuals!?

and by "manual" I mean the big splash screen that pops up before the game with the entire button layout.

I'm not trying to make people want to buy it. I just want to talk about it with people, but all I'm getting are comments on my horrible typing and the go-to complaints about camera, skipping cut scenes, and this newfangled slide mechanic. Sorry for wanting to talk about a video game on the f13 forums.

I hated the inventory screen. That was enough to make me not buy the game. The controls were just icing on the cake.

We are talking about it, it's just that you're coming off as defensive when some of us have complaints.

Yeah I guess so. Maybe I've slipped into fanboy territory with this one. Anyway time to go home and pick up some nachos and a coors tallboy on the way.

See? Advertising works! On MMOs and everywhere else.

Anyway, just downloaded this demo, so will give it a run this afternoon and report back what I thinks.

So I tried the Too Human Demo.

Well, I tried to try the Too Human Demo, anyway.

Loaded it up. Various company logos. Some tree with camera rotating around it. Press start to continue does... nothing? Chatty bitch begins chatting about the history of Idontcareland. After she finishes we cut into the dropship sequence of Aliens, right down to the way the fucking APC looks some very totally original sequence of space marines jawing off as they strap themselves into their dropship's vehicle, which in a turn of originality turns out to be HOOOOOOOOOOOGE.

Then the space marines raid Arthas' Tomb or some shit. At that point, I'm expecting to play the demo, but instead the creen changes back to The World Tree rotation with chatty bitch again. Start still does nothing.

Reboot, reload, same shit again.

This is soooooo sloppy.
Because for serious, if their demo is this fucked up, how bad is the game going to be? Yeah, I know, "it works find for me /shrug", but I've got a standard 360, and it seems decidedly broken that it doesn't work for me. Even after reboots. Which makes the purchase very less likely.

FAIL

Given that I haven't heard of this happening to anybody else, I'd suggest that maybe your download got corrupted somehow, and you might want to try deleting it and downloading it again.

Gave your suggestion a try. Deleted it, re-downloaded it, same issue again.

Ah well.

I suspect it's a PEBCAK issue.  I remember watching the intro sequence, then starting it with the start button and having to watch it again.  I don't remember how I got to the character select but it wasn't incredibly obvious, more of a design thing than a technical one I think.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

I vaguely recollect that it was world tree > new character > intro sequence

And then it places you at the entry to the tomb... in what looks like it should be more cutscene, where the first time I played I watched it for about 30 seconds before going "oh, I'm supposed to do shit now. Give me a fucking UI when you think it's user turn damnit!"

Never got sent back to the main menu though.

Well, the reviews are out and it isn't looking too good for this game.  IGN gave out the highest score so far out of all the major review sites, with a score of 7.8.  After reading the reviews, I think I'll likely be waiting for a price drop before picking this one up.
