Point being,  ACK! is this game unbalanced for PVP. Why anyone would even play on a PVP server with the state of PoM, Ranger, and ToS is beyond me. Just altogether stupid.

Barb and  this guy looks legit shaman are also extremely op, in fact most classes are.  Assassins and the caster classes need help in pvp, everyone else does just fine.

I'm a bear shaman, level 24.  When does the OP part start?  I've just started feeling balanced after feeling weak to 20.  And 8 to 14 is absolutely broken.

Once I've gotten the hang of my bear shaman, he's gotten pretty crazy.  Not some of the ridiculousness that schild has said the PoM can do, but the character is pretty damn hard to kill and can fight for forever.  I've gone from a class that barely can kill a 2 pull(and lost on occasion), to a class that can take 3 or 4 on at once, with continual adds.  I ended a +1 boss fight that nearly killed a ranger at full health/mana/stam.

Some advice:

1) Spam blood flow.
2) Get the 3 point regen talent in the Wrath tree.  I have it on constantly.  I don't know if this is wise, as it ups the damage I'm taking, but I've got an unlimited stam pool while it's going.
3) Your butter move is Crush Armor.  Try to lead with something that hits high so they adjust their shields there. An unprotected Crush Armor is going to wreck someone.
4) You have a knock back and a stun.  If stuff starts going downhill, use them.
5) Spam blood flow.  If you've got some points in the spirit line, you can spam up the damage add before a tough fight.
6) Start working toward Empowered Renewal.  I don't have it yet, but it's +50% damage on the hit that triggers renewal. That'll set up some nice alpha strikes with Crush Armor.
7) Turn off auto facing and make sure your combos and regular swings are hitting everyone in an arc.  If you're not, reposition yourself (while spamming bloodflow).
8) Since you're likely in Connarch, close to melee range on archer mobs.  They fucking hurt, but apparently they forgot to pick up a sword on the way to the battlefield.

Once your dots start scaling better (and I just got a new level of blood flow), you're going to be near impossible to kill unless you get knocked back/stunned and then unloaded on.

My one real gripe with the class is the number of attacks to trigger some of the combos (can be annoying) and the fact that the class is 2HB only.  I like the edge weapon fatalities better.  Also, it's a very active class.  You're constantly casting and triggering combos.  The UI really gets in the way with this.

As a bear shaman, I agree with everything you said.  I feel OP at level 25 and destroy everything.  Level 29 boss, no problem, 3 level 26 mobs, sure why not.

I'm 100% in spirit and empowered renewal+crush armor is just sick, 1 shotting equal level mobs basically.  I spam blood flow like I need it to breathe.  I never run out of mana, stamina is my only concern.  I do use stamina pots fairly often.  I am thinking about starting down the wrath tree to get the regen talent.  It seems like the general talents are basically crap, but there is one down there that reduces the cooldown of blood flow from 3 seconds to 1 second which might be nice...

I think you can get by without it.  You'll be having more problems with stam regen perhaps, but you'll be taking less damage across the board.

Another thing I hate.  Travel times.  I have yet to go to my guild's city because it is so out of the way of everything else in the game it's retarded.  Hell today I had to run back and forth to and from Fields of the Dead and it pissed me off.  The fact that even though I am 43 and am still about 2.5 gold away from getting a mount doesn't help me annoyance.

I imagine you'll be able to hearth to a built guild city. I can't see that not being a skill you get from building the city itself.

I hope so?

Haven't heard of a way.  Even if I can change my bind point to the guild city, right now why would I?  The cities aren't done (no npcs are in our buildings) and again, it's so far out of the way from where I would be leveling that I see no benefit in going there.  It would have to be a totally separate ability besides our current "port to bind" ability.

I bind where I quest (right now the eligwhatever mountains) and death hop across zones when I want to visit the trader or gathering zone.

With level 50 food/drink and a fatality every 4th or 5th mob I don't have stam regen problems.

The big finishing moves can take to long to play out, a couple of times I've been in a scrum where I end up getting killed by the last mob who I would have been able to beat if I hadn't spent 10 seconds on finishing moves.  Combat goes fast and a few seconds is all the difference in the world.

Find a Wayfarer of Asura and talk to her. They're in most of the big quest hubs or cities, and show up as a grey dot on your minimap.

They do? Cool, that'll save me all the running about trying to find them!

On a related note does anyone know how to turn off the quest objectives overlay on the minimap? The option in the, er, options, does nothing for me :(

There's an option for turning off quest objectives on the minimap in the same menu as where you select instances. Click the small downwards-pointing triangle on the top-left side of the minimap, and you should see a dropdown-menu with two options - one of them turns off quest objectives on the map.

Thing I hate:
Tortage (sp?) The entire starter city has to go. Most of the people I know that started, thought that was the whole game... thought it was like Guildwars or something.

I see some people on the official forums complaining about Tortage too and I really don't get it.  I thought Tortage was great.  It had nice zones, a good storyline, you could go play solo when tired of the daytime.  All the lowbies are together answering questions and grouping together.  I could see it getting tiresome on the third alt but you can blow through it pretty fast anyways.

If you didn't like Tortage you might as well just stop playing now really.

Tortage might get tired doing over and over, but on the first run through it is the best newbie zone I've played in any MMOG.

Finally got to Purple Lotus Swamp and after 30 minutes or so I absolutely hate that zone.  Can't see a damn thing and running around gathering is tedious.  Never did much like swamp zones though.

I can't see them NOT implementing a player centered light source sooner rather than later.

It feels like an oversight at the moment.

There is absolutely no explanation in-game that you are in a newbie zone. On top of that, you spend more time there, than in any other noob zone I've ever seen. Like all noob zones, it feels small... cramped... controlled... which is all ok, IF you know you're in a starter zone. I knew I was, because I had played a bit in beta and had friends in beta. But everyone I know that bought the game after release had no idea it was a starter zone until I TOLD them it was. I had someone say to me: "This feels just like Guildwars" and he was right. You've got 1 town... with maybe a few mobs outside it. Your first quest takes you into an instance, by yourself, at night... None of this is really how the rest of the game is played.

The silver-sands (or whatever its called) is nice, but its location kind of hides it. Granted we should all be able to figure this stuff out, but being a newbie zone imo all of it should be glaringly apparent.

What do you mean?

The first person you talk to in the tavern gives you the option of skipping tortage and the destiny quest.

Also, the moment you have to be hit over the head with a "Monsters this way" sign (and what you're offering is comparable), then all immersion is broken and we're in shittown.

And the night time quests completely say "Night - Solo" and the other option is "Day - Multiplayer."

They tried as hard as they could to NOT have a MONSTERS sign. But I guess if confusion is possible, someone will be confused. No matter how Not confusing it is.
