Is pissing in a coke can while you level a WoW character really as admirable as all of these people seem to think it is?

Can they not POSSIBLY find something better to be proud of in life?

This is on a par with the guy who holds the world record for attaching the largest number of pegs to his face imo.

Heh, I've put a bit of thought into this.

If you:

1.  Level only on rest XP (which makes catassing impossible).
2.  Plan exactly which quests in the whole game give you the best XP/Hr (probably kill X quests where you can tag and have someone else clean up).
3.  Have warlocks all over everywhere to make your travel time zero.
4.  Get your guildies to go everywhere with you (see 2).

It's possible.

Supposedly no rested XP was used.

That's awesome.

I think the only way to do this would be to grab an instance worth of mobs, burn them down at the entrance, exit (leaving only the PL char behind) and let the PL char finish them off somehow.

I'd like to know how these people do this.  1-60 in 14 hours... sometimes it feels like that's how long it takes me to get 44-46.

I imagine, go to instance, gather lots of mobs, dot them so they will die, exit instance before they do so (thus letting the aggro and the xp go to the guy to be PL'd), reset instance once the mobs conveniently close to the zoneline are dead.

I don't know if it's possible to set up a string of collection quests to give constant XP all the way to 70 (have someone else collect the mats and give them to you, have alts standing by to share the quests so you don't have to travel all over).  Probably not.

Is there a command prompt that lets you know how long you've been playing or is that part of an AddOn?

I would REALLY love to know how they do it.  There is no way they can manage that without outside assistance.  They pretty much Have to be tap leveling on stuff or something.

I don't think even tap levelling would do it.  You can't run more than five instances per hour, I believe, and a full clear of SM Cathedral takes 20 minutes on my 70 paladin solo, so if you had four seventies tapping mobs you'd still be sitting around for a huge amount of time.  Plus, he claims it wasn't on rest XP, so you'd think that if it was on rest XP, you'd be able to get to level completely, from one to seventy, in less than a day.

Possibly 1-60, with the buff to quest XP, might be doable.  Have a few groups of four scattered around the world, with a warlock in each so he can pull the guy being PLed to town to pick up quests, then have another group pull him out to where the mobs are at, nuke thirty "Slightly Perturbed Boars" and fifteen "Really Quite Perturbed Boars" in about fifteen seconds, have the first group pull him back to town, turn in quests, have another group at the next town pull him there, repeat.

No idea how the hell you'd pull off 60-70 in like sixteen hours, though.

Most ultra-fast power levelling(ie multiple levels an hour) revolves around what's known as the 'dot and run' technique.  A warlock dots up the mobs in an instance and runs out, leaving the lowbie inside.  The mobs die and the lowbie gets credit as if they single-handedly killed all of those mobs.  The technique they probably used is completely different and revolves around the mobs being green to the 70s AOE grinding.

/played being bugged is also a major factor.

The only issue i have with the "dot and zone" technique is that you would need some kind of rather good timing on that.  How do you dot a large number of mobs so that they all die at the same time, and the zone out, while preventing the mob of mobs from then turning on the hapless lowbie being leveled and instagibbing him just before they die?

1) Zone into an instance with powerleveler and 4 lvl 70 friends.
2) Drop powerleveler from group.
3) Powerleveler tags a bunch of mobs.
4) Lvl 70s kill the mobs in less than 60 seconds
5) Invite powerleveler back into the group before he gets teleported out.
6) Repeat from step 2.
