Hell up at my granpas cabin he had blackbears rip apart a cast iron incinerator looking for garbage. If a black bear can pull apart a very solid cast iron incinerator those window frames would do jack all if that polar bear REALLY wanted to get in there. But polar bears are pretty curious creatures so it may have just been looking around to see what the hell this weird thing was.

Also one of only two species that as a whole will actively hunt humans. Crocodiles are the other IIRC. Tigers, sharks, grizzlies etc. will on an ad-hoc/good animal gone bad basis, but generally they stay away from people. Not polar bears or crocs apparently. They know easy pickings when they see it. |

Tigers, sharks, grizzlies etc. will on an ad-hoc/good animal gone bad basis, but generally they stay away from people.
In the case of tigers at least, its not so much 'gone bad' as 'got old'. Humans are dangerous to hunt and tigers are smart enough to know that. However, when they're too old and slow to hunt antelope, they'll sneak up on lone humans and ambush them. If you spot a man-eater and keep its gaze, you'll probably be safe. Don't try that with a lion. |

Yeah, this actually goes double for the god damn polar bears as well. I went college San Diego, and a friend of mine took a 1 unit specialty class where they learned about administration of zoo's, exotic animal handling, etc. As such, they got to go on special trips behind the scenes at seaworld and other places in San Diego. He said the zoo keepers where explaining that polar bears where incredibly smart, and very very dangerous. If you ever go to a zoo and see one, all its doing down there when it looks at you is trying to figure out a way to get out and eat you. They constantly have to do things to keep the animals occupied so they don't have to much time to think about how they can escape from the enclosure (things like freezing their food in ice cubes so they have to work at getting it out, etc. And he said when you go to the special holding areas behind the enclosure, everything is super reinforced because the handlers say the bears will just stand up and start pound on the doors with all their weight/might. Overall, the amount of things they go through when handling polar bears sounded exactly like the speech Muldoon gave about the fucking Raptors. DESTROY THEM BEFORE THEY DESTROY US. |
