I sure don't, but I would recommend asking on www.militaryphotos.net as those guys can pull up some pretty obscure pictures involving the military. edited because I don't understand bbcode.

Here are the problems with that picture:
  1. You're wearing ACU's off base.
  2. You look like Joe.

On one hand, he might just be a giant Airsoft nerd who shops at the military surplus store. I can't imagine what state allows a civilian to carry a full-on assault rifle in public. On the other hand, that's a pretty bayonet mod.

No rank insignia and the sign in the background looks like it says **RSOFT which I am guessing is airsoft.

Okay, so I'll apologize. I have a weak spot for some things.
I guess that isn't Brogarn, but whoever that Baker asshole is, he's assigned the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.
And everyone needs to quit wearing their stupid uniform out in public.
  But back to the pictures!

It's not heights that bother me -- it's the edges. Even with a railing, I get really nervous. Like somehow I'm going to fall off, even though the railing comes up to my waist. Heights, though -- not so much. I've stood near the top of the Shuttle launch assembly, which is some 300 feet up (if you count the blast pit) on what's basically a steel mesh floor. I could see all the way down, and it didn't give me a moment's pause -- until I got near the rail.

I don't know, but that kind of sounds like a pretty good defintion for a fear of heights as I've ever heard.  Isn't it less about the actual height and more about the falling and going splat?

Guess its by degree's.  Some people can't stand seeing any sort of height, or being high up.  Like, hiking up mountains or being in a plane.  I can climb up cliff's and fly all day without any fear (as a matter of fact, I love it).  However, when I'm on a structure that's really high up, then I get wobbly knee's.  Like, riding in a glass sided elevator will force me to turn my head away, (beware of the Tokyo tower elevators if you're like me    ).  I think the most terrifying thing that I can ride on is actually a Ferris wheel.  Jesus Christ those things will scare the ever living fuck out of me (especially if its those ones you ride at county fairs, where your just sitting on a metal bench stuck between two steal circles).  Roller coasters are great, but I cant handle even small Ferris wheels.

I'm not afraid of heights but I do get nervous around edges. Is there another term for that?
For example, I've gone sky diving (and enjoyed it) and I fly a plane, so it's not like I'm scared of being up high. But when I'm on the edge of something, it's almost like there's this strong gravitational pull that is trying to make me go over the edge and I have to constantly fight it. Obviously that's all in my head (I think!), but it still makes me nervous.  (Oddly, I'm OK on our roof, even while hanging up Christmas lights on the gutters from on top).
Conversely, my mom is really scared of heights and doesn't like being in airplanes or on the top of a mountain or anything like that. She'd freak out if she had to jump out of a small plane - or even thinking about doing it.

I'm going to go along with Teleku and say that it must be degrees of the same thing.  And Viin, I think what you described is what most people would be fearful of.

So like being scared of sea monsters/sharks/etc grabbing your legs while swimming and pulling you under water isn't exactly a fear of water, it's just an auxiliary fear that involves water? :P

Pretty much. Sartre used it as an analogy for existential dread, you're not afraid of the height so much as the thought that you're entirely capable of (free to) throwing yourself off.

Yeah, basically.  Anyone who stands on the top of some tall rickety building near the edge without some kind of ledge is going to get a little nervous.  That's a rational fear of heights (or maybe just fear of dying horribly).
