Painting the table half orange is the only real compromise in the picture. The rest is pure awesome.

My wife pointed me to this video of it being made. Even watching it I hit that point where my eyes started thinking it was optical illusion.

It looks like blue masking tape. They also used it on the white shelf in back. And they forgot to wrap the table leg.

I get what that photo is trying to do, but that doesn't look like a sweat shop to me. It looks like a regular business. The dude in the foreground is wearing a nice hat, has a decentish looking tatoo, and looks physically fit. Also somebody has to make those masks hehe. Or maybe I didn't understand the picture's narrative at all.

Even at that level, it's still kinda ironic.

They're mass producing V for Vendatta masks for consumers.  That's pretty high on the what the fuck ometer for me.

Like that old joke about the guy who got the tattoo saying 'individual' because all his mates were doing it.

I think even without the context, it's a pretty cool photo; all those blank faces are interesting I think. But then the mass-produced icon of anti-consumerism angle that IW mentions just adds to a bit. I have read that Warner Brothers get commission for every one of those sold.

Makes sense. I'd laugh more really if there was some lone artisan out there hand-producing masks for angry teens to wear to protests.

I look at it as a sign of the general state of discontent that so many of those are being worn as a recognized symbol. Something ideas, or symbols or some such inserted here.

It's from a factory in Sao Paulo producing masks for the current protests/riots.

That misses the part where the catcher stands up, steps to his right, and barely catches the ball... and where the batter swings very slowly and poiltely at the obvious strike. Still awesome.

It's a first pitch. Most of the people they trot out there are usually lucky to get it to the plate throwing it normally.

Different strokes man. I find this stuff fascinating and beautiful at face value. I full well know about the underlying horror and keep both stored in separate parts of my brain.

Yeah, that's pretty amazing stuff SpaceX is doing on that front.  Would be a massive game changer if they are able to integrate that tech with their rockets somehow.  Not sure how they'll pull it off though, seems like they'd need to have a pretty good amount of fuel left over after it makes it to orbit.

Something about that shark picture is terrifying on an irrational level.

I wonder what would be worse - feeling all those teeth grinding into your calves after having been swallowed whole, or just the knowing that you've just been swallowed whole.

I don't think that shark is as big as you people are making it out to be. That's not even a Great White and even the majority of those could not swallow a human whole.

Great whites are in the mackerel shark order, but, yeah, the teeth make me think it's a mako.   Still would leave a mark, though.

Wrong mako:
