Hey,

I'm thinking of grabbing one of these games.  Probably wont stick with it long but I like to try stuff out.  I hardly know anything about either game, but you guys seem to have opinions about everything so..... shoot!  Gimme the  Mob  and the  Rock on!  and the Beating a Dead Horse.

P.S.  I notice you have no FFXI forum, not even in the gaming graveyard, is that like....  a sign to stay away?  or...

Oh yea, hadn't thought about that.

CoX is #3 while FFXI is #16   ACK!

Thats useful information but I was looking for something a bit more comprehensive and maybe... funny (AKA:  Samprimary's comic on DDO, man that shit cracked me up).  I'll look through the top 10 thread for some info I guess.

Do you plan to play 10 hours a week (CoX) or 40 hours a week (FFXI)?  CoX is much more casual.

I have never played WoW.

CoX is more like a console game (get in, kill stuff, get out)

FFXI is more of an investment type game.

If you're a serious achiever, go FFXI.  If you're looking for fun with some long term improvements but no focus on endgame, go CoX.

This thread explains why you should choose CoX:

CoX then.

Post on the CoX forum when you plan to start, you'll probably be able to put together a gang to run through the tutorial missions and early levels at least as far as your your first safeguard/mayhem mission, and so get your temporary jetpack to see you through to your real travel power at 14.

Everyone is always starting alts.

If you have friends that play the game in the same time zone than you in a static party and you're willing to approach a "unique" *cough* control scheme, then FFXI is one of the best games ever. If not, it makes Vision Era EQ look casual.

COX is fast to get into, lots of action, but ultimately somehow unsatisfying and a little repetitious. If you're in for a month or two though, it's about the perfect game.

If you can read this, you're on a board populated by misogynist assholes.

CoX. Just assume you'll be playing characters only until level 14 or so and then rolling an alt. Best part of the game anyway smiley

If you sign up for CoH/V before February 8, you'll be able to take part in the Double XP weekend. Those are pretty popular, so I've no doubt (assuming the servers don't fall over and die...) you'll be able to get on a team and lvl up quickly.

Virture or Freedom servers are the most populated.

They really need to make that double XP the norm and also have double xp weekends. This rigidity on the slow XP thing has always surprised me, and is ironic given the success they're having with double xp weekends anyway...

So what did he decide to play?  I hate it when people bugger off without telling us their decision!
