Jeff Lynne

He may not have been the star player in The Move, but most of what ELO did in the 70s was excellent, particularly Eldorado.

Ah, I actually like their disco shit believe it or not -- and he's a great guitar player -- but quite a bit of McCartney influence would slip in to ELO albums from time to time. And not the cool "Helter Skelter McCartney", but the utterly square "When I'm 64 McCartney". I hate that shit.

All of those guys should have been more like Bowie, who just listened to John.

Why? John Lennon wasn't some song writing god - he produced a fair amount of mediocre guff - probably a greater proportion of his work than the more prolific McCartney. You have to take the bad with the good - without McCartney, Mercury or Lynne some of the greatest works of the Beatles, ELO or Queen would not have been even slightly possible. After all, Lennon-McCartney without McCartney is just Lennon, and look at the solo albums - a handful of good songs and a bunch of appalling crap.

I think that Brian Eno influenced David Bowie more than John Lennon ever did.

Well I am fonder of Lennon than that. But it is hard to say other than Lennon was the poet, McCartney was the musician. Silly love songs but songs never
 the less.

I started with nothing, and I still have most of it

I'm not a complete idiot... Some parts are still on backorder.

John showed his balls more than Paul. He was the older cat of the bunch, and the biggest rocker out of them. So that's why I like him more. I don't think he was some sort of god though. Paul had a lot of things going on besides rock -- whatever you want to call it, I don't know -- he was more in touch with the older genres, British folk, and definitely the best musician of the bunch, and the best singer. Also, even though I think Lennon was cooler, I did mention Helter Skelter. For some odd reason, Paul wrote that! And John really didn't get that nasty until after the Beatles, I think (with Plastic Ono). John still gets more listening out of me though because he consistently had the Blues, both musically and psychologically -- even when it was psychedelic shit about flowers, it was still blue-sy -- and I like that.

This entire thread confuses and infuriates me.  Did people actually get upset about Jackhob?

I hate the new title- it reminds me of necrophilia.  So we want to have sex with dead people?

No Nerf, but I put a link to this very thread and I said that you all can guarantee for my purity. I even mentioned your case, and see if they can take a look at your lawn from a Michigan perspective.

I think they're shooting for "insignificant" and not "a Chinese stone statue army."

I also think "Jackhob" should be Geldonyetich's permanent grief title.  (As if I get to pick them myself.)

Actually while being lined up in military formations, no two Terracotta warriors have the same face. They are all unique.

Some idiot cut Righ off on the highway yesterday and he called him a "Jackhob."  He also called a Jackhob after I called him "Miss Sassy Pants."  I think we should change it from Terracotta Army to Miss Sassy Pants.  It sound more righter.

Also it will be more funny for some people.  Details to follow.

I'm not sure what that sign means but, when combined with a pre-existing state of confusion over why hamster wheels need USB connections, it's devastating on my fragile message-board psyche.   I give!  Uncle!  Uncle!

Geldon was officially banned.  Scroll up- it all makes sense.  Kinda like that movie Fight Club if you go back and rewatch it.

I agree.

f13 has (almost) always functioned as a democracy (except for that time I unbanned Bruce). When more staff wants someone gone than wants them to stay and that said person gets insulted by more people than he is praised, well, it's hard to argue with them.

If you count out the Day 1 bannings and all the gold spammers/link exchange/numbskulls I've deleted after 1 post, we've had so few bannings around here that you probably couldn't remember them.

Even HRose has become more than tolerable. Geldon on the other hand is an obsessive nut who didn't change even one iota. Go check out his blog. He's still a whiny kid. I gave him the benefit of the doubt at the beginning and he proved me otherwise, which is a shame. Call it a stupid banning all you want. We're more than fair with our share of nutjobs.

No one is complaining that we banned Hyu again either. Though his was simply a case of ban avoidance.

Edit: By the way, Geldon's banning was planned nearly a month ago.
