My wife and I duo mages. To avoid confusion, she used sheep for her polymorphs, and I used the pig. We haven't played in months, until this afternoon.

So I used to use this, from WoWWiki:

/focus [button:1]
/cast [button:1,nomodifier:shift] Polymorph; [target=focus,exists,button:2,nomodifier:shift] Polymorph
/stopmacro [nomodifier:shift]
/target focus

I had it set up slightly differently, though - through simple trial and error, I managed to set mine up to use Polymorph: Pig

/focus [button:1]
/cast [button:1,nomodifier:shift] Polymorph; [target=focus,exists,button:2,nomodifier:shift] Polymorph: Pig
/stopmacro [nomodifier:shift]
/target focus

I found out today, that my modified one no longer works. That's because the spell "Polymorph: Pig" is now known as "Polymorph Rank 1: Pig"
It does have the same effetcs listed as my highest-ranked regular poly, though.

So I'm at a loss, since regular sheep polymorph is listed as "Polymorph Rank 4

wowwiki to the rescue:

/cast Polymorph (Rank 1: Pig)
/cast Polymorph (Rank 1: Turtle)
/cast Polymorph (Rank 4)

Easiest way to get an exact spell name for any spell is to open the macro, place the cursor where the spell name goes, then open your spellbook with your mouse and shift-click the spell you want to insert into the macro.  The exact spell name including rank will be automatically added to the macro.

Protip: In PvP, Polymorph (Rank 1) is just as effective as Rank 4/Pig/Turtle and costs ~1/3 the mana.

If you're on a PvP server or do BGs at all, I'd add a control modifier to do R1. It's also handy if you don't need to actually CC a mob, just interrupt its cast.

I did not know that, either. I've just made a seperate PVP polymorph macro as well.

i seem to recall that you can also leave the rank modifier off the spell if you want to, and the game should automatically use the highest applicable rank (great for leveling cause you never need to change the macro as you learn each new rank of spell)

This is true.
