So which one of you small-gang specialists is going to volunteer to run some pewpew?

And how many people here actually signed up and are looking for got gang-on-gang action?

PS If the worst comes to the worst I'll FC, but we'd all be learning together.  Plus, my problem has always been finding realistic targets to shoot at.  The few non-convoy gangs I have run seem to spend 3 hours wandering through lowsec while a succession of potential targets see my (non-GF) character (in a probing buzzard) jump alone into their system and seem to think "hey, a solitary character with positive sec status who is a member of a known anti-pirate alliance: time to dock up!"

I run one if need be, but will probably consist of us taking on a very weak gate camp just to get the blood pumping. Finding targets isn't hard, but finding targets that won't just blob or wtfpwn us will be. Maybe a little Sunday PVP run?

P.S. - And remember, doesn't matter if you are Bob/Fix/Goon/Tri/empire trader ... you can make an 800k fighter with small hybrid/projectile 5 and gunnery 5 just from character creation. So make a guy and join us ....

Sunday is fine by me, too.  I'm in euroworld, so by 2400 Eve time I am off to sleep, but anything up to mid evening EST is fine by me.  I really want to try out this thorax.

You're doing it wrong. Pew pew should be happening all the time. Head out solo if you can't get a gang together. Worst case, you'll die; best case, you'll loot something from a wreck you stumble across (you wouldn't believe what people leave lying around); on average, you'll hone your running away and tackling skills more. Can you hold a point on someone until they decide to deaggress or someone with decent dps logs in? Can you scan someone down in a belt and distinguish empty ships at POS? Isk is not EXP. It's not mandatory to gather a big bunch together before PvP.

The guidance I gave new players in SLCG was to get T2 small guns and frigate V unless they're very dedicated players. Cruisers with T1 guns seem like an amazing deal (fully insurable!), but the cost of cruiser insurance exceeds the cost of a few T2 smalls and the upfront costs are prohibitive (5M vs. 700k). In addition, a frig with level V frigate and T2 smalls will do at least 2/3 of the damage of a cruiser with unnamed T1 guns, give or take depending on fitting, plus the frigate gets all the natural advantages of the hull: agility, speed, scan res (<3), and signature. That makes the frigate less likely to die when faced with overwhelming odds. Perfect example: myself in a Hurricane and two Vagabonds found a Thorax and a Jaguar in a belt a couple weeks ago (pretty sure they were pirating themselves, but who knows?). There's no way that fight goes against us, no matter what kind of fabulous tactics the Thorax and Jaguar execute. The Jaguar got away because we couldn't get a point on him before he warped. The Thorax popped. I'm not condoning the use of assault frigs at their current price levels, mind, but the point about frigate survivability should be clear. Incidentally, if we'd had a 1M SP noob in a frig with a MWD and 20k scram, we could have gotten that Jaguar, too. I'm looking at you, new guys.

This is not to say that low SP players can't be effective in larger ships. It just requires sinking some isk into good named mods. Best named blasters still pwn, and arbalest HAMs and torps are good too. Arbalest HMLs are nice, too, but damned if I can justify that price.

The problem with telling noobs "Hey just go pew pew" is they don't know rules of aggro at gates, low sec, where to expect gate camps and how to use your map to find where to avoid/seek out.  They will get their T1 frigate owned constantly, and its not a ton of fun to go....well great lets refit another.  They don't have a lot of disposible income to just throw away ships.

In a pack and on voice comms they will learn twice as fast how you are supposed to PVP.  We may catch a battlecruiser alone and swarm him, and then take his loot. A tech II kill or two would pay for every frigate we took out that day.

But what we need is people joining f13 corp and chat, and really showing some initiative to learn to pew pew. Sign your name here, say you want to join us/help. You lurkers/posters around here take some time out from your big alliances and stop by for some fighting with an alt of yours.

Sunday, 4pm EST: F13 Wolfpack Hunt

Bring a frigate or a cruiser. Expect it to go boom by the end of the night. I'll hook people up with some isk to cover loses. Please, post saying if you are going to come help...as well as your relative experience level...Come on peeps step on up!

Once you're consistently running Level 1 missions it's easy to drum up the cash for a new frigate in an hour or so.

Yeah, ask The Groundskeeper (my alt) for cash if you are needed.  Ill be happy to dispense largesse to my F13 homies.

Also, for insanely profitable missions run lowsec level 1 agents.  I have never even been targetted running minmatar republic fleet agents in lowsec, and the missions pay out six figures per go with zero social skills, so you could literally afford to lose an insured rifter on every second one, not loot, and still make some money.

Well, 90% of surviving in 0.0 is knowing how to run back to the gate. If you jump into enemies, right click on the gate and add as next waypoint. Approach the gate and immediately engage your MWD and autopilot. You'll jump on through and foolish enemies will be stuck on the other side. Smart enemies can follow you through, so rinse and repeat until you can warp off safely.

I still think setting up shop in NPC 0.0 by empire is the way to go for the new player.

Didn't even know NPC 0.0 existed, thought it was all fought over by corps.

In a sense, it kinda is. The difference is that there are non-conquerable stations and its impossible to get official sovereignty. Doesn't stop corps/alliances from claiming it as their space...just makes it harder because the enemy can dock up at any time.

Heh, I think I might be ready to start dabbling around in 0.0 but I have a feeling for a while it's going to just be a lot of me warping somewhere, getting blown up, and then trying to figure out where I went wrong.

I'll say it again: wait til Tri leave Providence and then head there.  With the NRDS policy that CVA enforce it's a great place to learn about 0.0.

Oops, sorry.  Providence is a region in Eve.  It is conquerable 0.0 but is right next to empire space.  Tri are Triumvirate, a large and effective Pvping alliance who are currently focussing on Providence and most of its residents.  CVA (Curatores Veritas Alliance) are the dominant alliance in Providence, and they enforce a Not Red Don't Shoot policy, which means that anyone they haven't explicitly set as an enemy (with negative standings) can do what they like in CVA space.

TRI aren't heading out anytime soon.

I'm thinking we should focus our attention to the East/Northeast or Northwest...

Well I was thinking Great Wildlands ...but...meh.

My other idea is check out M-o (Taisy) and p3(Obe), then EC (torrinos) and 93PI (Saranen)

Some noob alts in these places would be helpful, I have one currently.

And it shouldnt matter who we fight, noone will be flying any big alliance flags (We'll be on alts).

Well I was thinking Great Wildlands ...but...meh.

N-RAEL is usually camped fairly hard, and we are just outside RA/Goon space on that side, so it might be them doing the camping. I've sniffed about in the NPC stations around the Derelik entrance, and there seems to be lots of different people around there. I think I have a jump cloned around there so I could sniff about a bit.

Yeah, I don't know how drone boats run some of the L4 missions: i imagine some must just be impossible.  In some where you can pick off groups of enemies with sniping, the whole room will aggro if you launch drones, which can mean 45 ships, including c.15 battleships, who do not de-aggro but immediately proceed to attack the foolish drone user as soon as they recover their rapidly melting drones.
I think the standard idea is to "Fly up to a group of ships and piss them off". Then "launch drones". Hopefully you kill the group you're on in time to recall your drones before they can be fired on by the guys halfway across the room THEY aggroed, and let the next wave latch onto you before releasing the drones again.

You can fit a mean-ass tank on a drone boat, especially when your drone skills are high enough that you don't use guns.
