I'd sort of assumed in the back of my head that the widespread use of photoshop and the internet put them out of business as everybody copy catted them for free.

They still make money actually printing the calendars, posters, and t-shirts. They have their own "demotivator" frame-your-pic app on the site, and will sell you merchandise with your own meme included. Think they pick some of those up as "official" merchandise when they catch on. --Dave
