I just want to know why they made him look like a chubby, aging, butch lesbian crooner. Short answer: The Venom Suit. Long Answer: Hollywood.

While I don't ever recall an instance of the symbiote altering a person's personality, I know it can. In the comics, Peter took it to the Fantastic Four's tower because he woke up while the thing was controlling him.

Touche, only Hollywood would have him dating Gwen after he got the symbiote, even though she long dead before he got it...

I think the whole thing was Sam Raimi's 'fuck you' for being forced to use Venom in the first place. I know that's not really true, but I like to pretend it is.

If real-life infections can alter behaviour, then there's no reason why these things cannot happen in fiction.

Not quite the point I was making. I was saying that while the movie is technically accurate in that the symbiote can alter its host's personality, it didn't do that with Peter or Eddie Brock. In fact, in my knowledge of Spiderm,an which is outdated, the symbiote has never done that, rather its personality is derived from its host. The reason Peter found out is was a symbiote because he woke up one night suspended in mid air on the side of some building.

Shut the fuck up.
Right now.
Who cares what the symbiote does or does not do? who even cares if that was scene-for-scene lore?
Spiderman 3 and that particular sequence in particular was shit on a shitty shit-caked bun...with sesame seeds.

HUEG PIXAR vs DREAMWORKS IMAGE I'M NOT GOING TO REPOST
Ordinarily I'd agree to the entirety of that. I mean, I own a functional brain and am over the age of 5. But I will defend Kung-Fu Panda tooth and nail - it's a great movie, the only decent thing Dreamworks Animation have put out. It survived the godawful hire'n'fire Dreamworks development process and managed to actually be funny and timeless (so, so, SO sick of pop-culture references every 2 seconds. God I hated Shrek and its horrible sequels) and more than that - beautifully animated, perfectly sequenced, dripping with atmosphere AND a proper homage to kung-fu. It's the one shiny diamond in Dreamwork's rough.

I really need to see that one. I've heard it didn't suck from multiple sources. I've just been burned so many times before, it's hard to believe that this time it's different.

*I* care, and apparently so do some other people around here. If you don't like me using a "lore" based answer to a questionn, you can go fuck yourself. This board is full of video games and comics, what the hell did you expect? As for the movie, it wasn't that great, and that fact is only reinforced if you compare it to the story from where it was derived.

It is. Although I enjoyed Shrek, King Fu panda sticks out as a good movie.

That's all there to it. Arguing about comic lore etc isn't going to change anything. I watched the cartoon when I was a kid and I could've sworn Pete went a little violent. But that's all there to it.

I should get back to nature, too. You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer. Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached. Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

Or it's a club in Budapest where Eastern European women and men go to dance. They aren't dudes, they are foreigners. If they were dudes, the thicker one on the right would have a much better haircut.

You see, even if you're right, you shouldn't flaunt your extensive tranny knowledge. It leads to questions.
