The poor wee bugger.

If you think about it yep. My mind was instantly spoiled by the "Autoerotic asfishxiation" responses on Twitter. David Carradine of Dolphins.

But as I said he was ok:

Quote
Part of the group encountered on 24 July was resighted on 23 and 28 August 2013. On both occasions, the dolphin with the hagfish in July was photo-identified without it ( Fig. 5 ). The animal showed no physical evidence of malnutrition/starvation (i.e., visibly reduced blubber thickness) and no anomalies were observed in the breathing pattern.

I mean, this is the second reason I ever saw posted, and it's certainly convinced me not to shop there ever again, despite a lifetime of previously doing so.  I mean, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, you can't get fooled again.

You're thinking of Earth. Earth is a flat circle.

Dude. Never try logic with a flat earther. They think the Earth is flat. You aren't going to get anywhere with someone like that.

On October 10, 2017 'Cala's Funny Pictures' published an image showing a stupid math question.

The Funny Picture did not meet 'Cala's Funny Pictures' editorial standards and has been retracted. 'Cala's Funny Pictures' apologies to Mrs. Claire Longmoor from Nottingham, UK.

Those are all just depressing enough that I don't question their authenticity.

The least depressing one of those is the ETRADE one since that's at least offering the fantasy that you might get a thin slice of that ruling class pie.

The others are "you're an overworked peasant and you should be PROUD OF IT".

I don't know, I've been seeing those E-Trade commercials (like the one where the guy gets shut out of first class, etc.) and they're the worst to me because they're tapping that rich, corrosive american vein of Steinbeck Syndrome that prevents any real progress. The others are just the usual Protestant eschaton that at least can be argued to keep society working, even if it is straight into the ground.

Steinbeck Syndrome

I don't think that's actually a thing, but I like it.

And yeah, you're right, the fantasy is probably more ultimately damaging.  It's all pretty bad.

Hah! That's the first time I've fallen into the misattribution hole in quite a while! Turns out it's Ronald Wright:

“Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”

Oh, well, Steinbeck Syndrome sounds better. It's like the China Syndrome, except Jack Lemmon takes Salinas hostage instead of a nuclear control room to save millions of high schoolers.
