Augmented Reality thru smartphones... for Pokemon. Shit is addicting way more than Ingress was for some reason.

Literally my only knowledge of Pokemon is that the yellow thing is called Pikachu and the weird South Park episode about "Chinpokomon".

Three quarters of my staff were wondering around the streets outside yesterday after work being traffic hazards. Fun fact, one of the nearby "gym" locations is inside a neighborhood bar. Fortunately it's a pretty friendly bar, but still I can imagine this is one really nerdy way to get oneself in all sorts of trouble...

Me, I'm waiting for the Hololens version...

I don't think it's a coincidence that that blood sample looks a bit like a penis because he is the biggest wankstain ever. What a fucking cockwomble.

Well, he did a promotional video shoot of him getting his blood drawn for the project, and it was on Ebay for a day before it was removed. Speculation is that somebody on Ebay noticed the real blood on the slide. Ebay's ToS kinda prohibits that sort of thing.

Apparently Garriott figured he could get by with listing it as "art."

Crazy like a fox, maybe. The delisted items were moved to another store where half the proceeds go to charity, and apparently two of them have already sold for more than the $5000 minimum.

So, free publicity, and still makes some dough off excess body fluid.

There's one on the private P&G research grounds up the road several hundred feet behind a security fence. Seems like they picked points based on phone activity and are relying on users to tell them which ones were bad ideas. Makes sense because I don't k ow how they'd do it otherwise for all these international locations.

With Ingess you can submit landmarks to be created as special points.  One guy at the embassy here managed to successfully get a sculpture located at the very center of the embassy compound approved.  Can't reach it from the other side of our walls, so he has an easy farm spot.   awesome, for real

We have a long, winding park walking path that follows a river that runs through the downtown core near my area.  Through some means or another, people have the ability to dedicate a memorial placque and have it associated with a tree along the path.  There are probably 40 to 50 or so of them in the 1.5 or 2 km or so section of the path near where I live.  Shortly before I lost interest in Ingress last year, some dedicated bastard managed to get every single goddamned tree in that section of the path tagged as a point.   Bloody insane farming spot if you had an hour or two to and a lot of data to kill.

Hasnt got a patch on Disney World tho.  That place lit up my ingress screen like a freaking christmas tree when I decided to pop the game open for the hell of it while waiting in line at one of the attractions.

When I worked at Wargaming, the whole area around the office was densely packed with solid green nexi. It was an oasis in an otherwise barren landscape for the rest of Kyiv. What happens when you have a large office full of nerds with nice phones in a city where most people just don't care about shit like that.
