I don't think the cat was shitting, I think he was spraying. Whatever is there now belongs to him. It's a funny thing about male cats. Even the ones that don't actually spray, sometimes still assume the position. My Lister does that but he's never sprayed. He gets way down just like that cat and sticks his tail straight out. He'll do that with new toys and things stuffed with catnip.
