Took this a couple of weeks ago on one of the few walks I've been on under lockdown. Been without my camera gear for a while, but the best camera is the one you've got on you...

Is there a limit to how many times in a row we're allowed to post in this thread? Couple of shots around London practicing with the telephoto.

No limits!

Glad to see the shots.

My plans to do portrait work have kind of gone to shit, but I might do some self-portraits just to explore.

Was toying with going to a protest tomorrow with camera. Am covid-nervous about it.

Have some flower shots from earlier this spring that I need to work with, have been kind of unmotivated lately.

I feel your pain. We've recently had an incredible run of Spring weather, but I can't really take advantage of it as we're not going to travel just to take photos. I hope you find something that scratches that photography itch.

I really like Chihuly's sculptures, and they had a few down in Kew Gardens in London last summer. Some photos:

A friend got her full tattoo finished, healed and wanted some photos of it. She's also super into latex clothing so we did a tattoo shoot that then morphed into an alt-fashion thing in the machinery room of my condo building. Be aware that if you click through on any of these photos, you may end up in an album that has some NSFW images. Nothing explicit, but there is some see-through latex, and some nudity facing away from the camera.

For how much I travel the world, and how many pictures I've taken, I've been terrible about ever posting anything to this glorious thread.  I don't expect that to ever change, really, but I was just looking through some more recent photos over the last few months, and this one struck me.  Just a random photo from my cell phone from walking through Hledan market in Yangon, but I liked it.

If you don't bring your own photogenic young lady to the flower festival, wait until someone else's gets into position.

Really nice set-up with the women at the flower festival. Those are the kinds of scenes that make me want to take a painting class where we really get into color theory so that I can make smart choices.

Luck mostly and a good lens. That was with the 24-70 f/4L and a lot of crop. I went back on Saturday with the 70-200 and got some better pics.

So, the older I get, the lazier I get. Which, considering I started life lazy, is probably not a good thing, although I've always said the best engineer is a lazy engineer (who figures out the way to solve something with the least possible effort).  why so serious?  Maybe when I retire (Real Soon Now) I won't be so tired all the time and will have more energy for fun stuff like photography. At least that's my hope. In the meantime, I've learned of these cool-sounding newfangled (not really) thingies called phone camera lens attachments. Basically your clip-on tie for a cell phone camera.  I'm not too lazy to carry my phone around. I'm probably not too lazy to keep a case of lenses handy in the car even. I do have binoculars and map books and Audubon identifier books and gloves and hiking boots and a rock pick and fanny pack and portable microscope and such in the car after all, just in case! And a (beach) towel.  I actually used the towel once to help put out a brush fire in a horse pasture! I call the car my self-propelled purse. Camera gear running into the several thousands of dollars worth I don't generally stow in the portable solar furnace/car though.  But back to phone lenses. Are they any good or too good to be true? Anyone have any experience with them?  My Pixel camera is pretty good, and I even have a couple (full size and desktop) tripods I can mount it on.  A lot of the stuff on Amazon is super cheap so I'll probably get something just as an expendable toy to try it out soon, but if anyone has any concrete suggestions or warnings, that would help enormously! If I can get half the fun out of a $40 set of phone camera lenses that I've gotten from the $20 hand held plastic lensed microscope I got at Radio Shack 15 years ago I'll call it a bargain!  But I'm willing to spend a good deal more if it's actually worth it.

<psa>Speaking of solar furnaces/cars, keep your hand sanitizer handy, but not on your dashboard or anywhere the sun can reach!  That stuff is basically low grade napalm, and quite ignitable under the magnifying lens of a car windshield. </psa>

No experience with phone lens attachments, but modern mirrorless cameras and telephoto lenses are incredibly small.

Nice photos Iain, I really like the squirrel. Did you have to go far out of central Bangkok?

I wish I could say why exactly this whole thing has killed my visual feeling. I've done shots at home, of home-like action, but it's really messed with my exploratory desires and my wish to do images of people. I feel bad about not making images more often but I also just can't somehow.

Nope, all of those are from a park in the north of Bangkok centre - Suan Rotfai park.

I had a long weekend at Krabi, which is a beach destination on the Andaman coast of Thailand.

Some highlights.

I've been in kind of a rut recently. I was in Koh Chiang a few weeks ago and took ages to even get the regular landscape shots edited. Here are a few of the ones I don't hate too hard.

Medium format slide film. I fucked up by guessing wrong on the reciprocity of expired Fuji Velvia so most of the two rolls I shot were hopelessly overexposed.

I was going through camera bags looking for something and I found a roll of medium format film that I had forgotten about. I had no idea what was on it so I developed it quickly to see, and there were actually some nice images on it from last summer in Bangkok.

It was a narrow alley and I was using a 6x9 folding camera with a fixed 105mm lens. I had nowhere to go to make it wider, and I wanted to get the width of the car more than the full height of the girl. Also, it's a rangefinder and there's quite a lot of parallax between what the viewfinder shows you and what the lens sees.
