I was asked to do a boudoir shoot for a friend of a friend. The problem is that this FOAF is in her fifties and is simultaneously very conscious of her aging and has a very unrealistic self-image. She wanted something to make her feel sexy so I decided that the best way to handle it was to do it as a black and white shoot with a lot of deep shadows to give me cover for airbrushing out loose skin and other unavoidable effects of getting older. Some of the shots are nsfw (none of them show full nudity but there are visible nipples on some). This one was my favourite and the only one I didn't convert to monochrome. Eastern Slovakia. About 40km north of the Hungarian border and 60km west of the Ukrainan one. Anyone else reminded of the Witcher in those pastoral Polish photos?
As The Witcher is made by Polish guys in Poland and is based on a popular Polish novel series, it's no surprise really.

Sorry for spamming this thread. I ran some test rolls through a couple of Soviet cameras I hadn't got around to shooting with. Dan, my Great Dane. Shot with Kiev 19 SLR on Fomapan. Kiev19032.jpg by Iain Compton, on Flickr Christmas lights in the park. We're 1000km from the sea, I have no idea why they are all fish-themed. Kiev19033.jpg by Iain Compton, on Flickr Wrought iron at the cathedral Kiev19019.jpg by Iain Compton, on Flickr These next were shot with my Fotosnaiper Zenit 12. It's an SLR with a rifle stock and a massive 300mm lens. I took these from my window because I didn't want to get shot by the police while walking around with it. Oh they're nice Khaldun. I see what you were going for with the football shot but I'm not 100% sure it worked. I feel like it maybe needed a single fully static point of reference for the movement to contrast against?
And Iain, yeah I agree with Rhyssa, no need to apologise for spamming the thread, it's really nice to see someone taking a lot of shots and clearly enjoying what they're doing.

Yeah, I almost yelled at that kid to completely freeze. I think if the exposure had been just a bit shorter or if I'd blended two shots, one long exposed, the other short, it would work better. I really like images of long exposed human movement but there are techniques for doing it in a controlled way that I need to work on more.

I saw that football one in my Flickr feed and was trying to work out how I knew the photographer. Mystery solved! The fog one with the gazebo is great, really nice mood. I did a shoot with a local hobby model in my apartment last night. Chloe-40.jpg by Iain Compton, on Flickr Chloe-82.jpg by Iain Compton, on Flickr Chloe-123.jpg by Iain Compton, on Flickr This one I'm torn on. I really like the way that her skin blends and all you see is some splashes of colour (she is super pale, even compared to me). I didn't touch vibrancy or saturation at all just fucked about with curves a bit to boost contrast and blow out the highlights. I feel it's missing something though and I'm stuck trying to figure out if it actually does look like a cool effect or just like I pushed all the sliders to the right. I haven't tried to shoot high key, but it does seem to me that it's first a lighting strategy and then second a post-processing one--e.g., if you try to go too much in that direction with post-processing where the lighting wasn't already pushing in that direction it doesn't work as well. I think Chloe-40 has the best combination of pose, expression, lighting and focus--the flower one I feel like the light needs to be somewhere else or that there's not enough fill in front, Chloe-123 her expression is a bit deer-in-headlights in a way that distracts me.

I agree with you on the high-key stuff. I shot almost all of that shoot except for the outdoor bits at about 1.5EV over exposed. There were two key lights on each side, a beauty dish overhead and a fill flash in the front - all through modifiers. But I'm stuck on whether it looks properly high key or just the result of having a spasm on the Lightroom sliders.
