My old GBA got used for playing FF:Tactics, and Advance Wars on long plane journeys and in hotels in countries that insist on dubbing television into foreign languages. Anything turn based is good, but basically open ended stuff that doesn't involve wrestling with tiny controls (ie. no shooters) is the key.
Any advice appreciated.

Age of Empires Advance Wars Dual Strike
and the just released Final Fantasy III (remade in 3D!)
Edit: I should mention that AoE for the DS is in fact a TBS, not a RTS game like its parent games. It does have some of that AoE RTS-flavor where you have to capture resources, build structures to produce units, etc., but the movement and combat is all turned-based.

I'll make a pretty comprehensive list when I get home tonight. I like talking about the DS.

My wife's pretty fond of the new Mario game, Nintendogs, Big Brain Academy, that Kirby game -- she's really wanting Elektroplanktan. She's fond of any of the games that use the stylys/touchscreen inventively, though.

Then how come you didn't list FF III and Elite Beat Agents in Weekly Releases? You've been slacking off!

I found Dragon Quest: Rocket Slime, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, and Meteos to be pretty good games.

Add to that Final Fantasy V, and that's basically my list too.

Add to that Final Fantasy V, and that's basically my list too. That's a GBA game, though, so if you want to include those there's FF I&II (together in a single cartridge) and FF IV as well. There's also Summon Knight Swordcraft I & II but those might be a bit "twitchy" for eldaec's tastes.

Including GBA games you MUST get both Fire Emblems.
I liked Meteos but got old for me after a while. Advance Wars DS has been my favorite game so far. For some reason I couldn't get nearly as into Age of Empires even though it was a very similar game. I didn't like a lot of the setpiece battles it had.
I really enjoyed Mr. Driller Drill Spirits. I only played Mario Kart at E3 but it was a lot of fun.

Not a TBS or anything, but Trauma Center might be something neat to try if you can rent or borrow it.
Also, while the second Fire Emblem game was good, it got kind of boring for me. If you're any kind of good at these kind of games, the latter half of the game becomes painfully easy.
