Just got back from one of the local EB's with Collectors Edition installed and currently patching. Very cool evening. Saw a bunch of former students and had some good laughs and met some new folks as well. The store even had goodies in the form of chicken nuggets and soda. Very well behaved crowd. The best part was when they split us up between the two registers based on Alliance or Horde. For once it paid off to be Horde. Very short line ;) Anyhoo, off to roll up my blood elf 'lock and go to bed. Nighty Night.

I was drinking when I wrote this, so sue me if it goes astray.

Nicer event than mine.  By the time I got there at about 12:05, the line (reportedly around the building before) had been mostly serviced. About 100 people in 15-20 minutes according to the guy.  I was one of the last ones and it was probably 12:30 when I was out of there.

Witty banter not included.

I don't have a burning desire (lol unintentional) to have the xpac but I am an insomniac so I'm usually awake at midnight.  It's like ass cold here right now though and my old co-workers at EB assured me they would have a "fucking shitload" of copies of the non-CE box.  I'll go bye there when I roll out tomorrow.

I was a catass and did the midnight pick up as well. I should have skipped showering for the past week.

Given that I have to work and that we knew trying to play on release day itself was going to be a joke and a half, the wife and I did Amazon.  We should have it by noon today, seeing as UPS says it's en-route from Louisville. Woo.

The bigger joke is that my Server is having huge issues with DB time, mail lag and - well- it just booted me again as I was trying to see what kind of price ore was going for already.  Ah, so glad I didn't do vacation this week.

My copy is set to arrive today via USPS... but given the fact that Austin is currently covered in a 1/2" of ice, I'm not so sure it's going to happen.

We'll see if the postal service lives up to its "rain, sleet or snow" mantra.

Picked up the last copy at the local Walmart at 8:00 this morning on the way to work.  Being lazy paid off once again.  :-D

I like the concept of midnight release; the regular store hours make picking up games sometimes diffcult during the week when you've got a job and hobbies.

I drove by the local EBGames at 5 till last night.  Line of at least 40-50 folks outside(was wrapping around the minimall area).  30 degrees outside (possibly lower, with a breeze!).  Turned right back around.  Luckily the store is only like 5 mins from my house.

I can wait.  TBC is not worth freezing my balls off.

Did it, got it, scary fat woman licked her copy after she got it and freaked everyone out; we thought it was an impending eat attack.

The release has been silky smooth. Not a single issue, queue, or spot of lag.

My CE came in the mail (overnight shipping) earlier this morning. I dig the soundtrack. It's sad, really - once you've played an MMO long enough, you turn off the music, but WoW has amazingly good music.

No issues last night, as far as the portal is concerned. We (the Horde) AoE bombed our way onto this mass of alliance that was camping the dark portal, and we held it until the dark portal timer rolled over, and our guild had the first character on the server inside Hellfire Peninsula.

But that Captain's salami tray was tight, yo. You plump for the roast pork loin, dogg?

There was a report of a nerd brawl at one of the EBs on the WoW forums, claiming police involvement and nerd arrests; whether or not it's true I leave to the reader to decide.  I went by a Wal-Mart at midnight, found a little line of people in the electronics section, they were chatty and friendly, and then I found out that the place didn't have any of the collector's edition, the guy at the register said he hadn't even seen it.  Yay for the back room people being too stupid to open the right boxes.

So instead I dropped by a Best Buy this morning, walked in, picked up a CE box, bought it, left.  Laughed a bit at the stupid jackasses who paid more than retail for it.  In fact, that pretty much mirrors my Wii buying experience.

And let me take this moment to shout out a friendly, "Fuck you!" to Gamestop.  Months ago I would keep trying to place a pre-order for the CE, only to be told, "We aren't taking preorders for that yet, just the normal version."  And then one day it was, "Oh, we stopped taking pre-orders for the collector's version weeks ago, and they're only sending us enough copies for the pre-orders."  Great way to fuck up what should have been free money for yourself, Gamestop.  If your store policies hadn't been drafted by imbeciles, I wouldn't've been giving money to your competitors.

I witnessed nerdfights at BestBuy this afternoon over who's preorder took precedence to get the last couple of CE boxes. It was sad, and yet funny. Meanwhile, the CompUSA the next building over had at least a dozen CE boxes sitting out on the shelves. I don't know what the fuss is. There is absolutely nothing in the CE worth the extra money, even if you add all the worthless trinkets up. It's just more useless stuff to rot in some nerdbox in an attic.

Went by the closer of 2 EB's near me where the new manager used to be my old assistant GM, LOL!  Anyway at 11am PST they had about...ohh gee, 80 copies of the regular boxes on the shelves.  Like, every shelf.  Picked one up no problem, installing as I type this.

My bossman went to Wal-Mart last night at mid-night and was shut out, as I guess they didn't get very many copies of BC and they (or their shipper) underestimated the flock of geeks that descended down to get their crack^H^H^H^H^HBC fix...

There were still some at the Walmart where the Amish people live around here tonight.  I'd say about a dozen or so on the shelf proper and then about 25 or so out of the way, under the shelves.

Jesus, I never thought I'd see another person who read FatChicksInPartyHats ever.

A good friend of mine picked up his collector's edition at midnight, and grabbed my copy for me on his lunch break since he works way closer to Best Buy than I do. He said there was a good sized nerd parade at Wal-Mart.

EBgames sent mine right on time.  Got home from work and it came special delivery about an hour later.

Of course, the servers wouldn't stay up long enough to enjoy much, but everything else was smooth as silk.
