Nah. It's not bad. I do good with the shredding shit. I'm worse at rhythm.

I'm having a hard enough time with the Fret Work section on medium.

Unofficial site, but they're consolidating votes for Guitar Hero 3 track list.

I know I'll never see Talking Heads- Pyscho Killer in the game, but I can try.

Hmm...David Byrne doesn't really scream "guitar hero" to me.

Tina Weymouth was the instrumentalist in that band....But...She didn't play the guitar.

It's better than all the knuckleheads voting for Metallica though.

It's only interesting if you get to wear an oversized baggy suit, play an acoustic guitar and have a boombox as accompaniment.

Well I bought the game yesterday and so far it is as fun as the first one.

The difficulty has gone up a notch or two. Songs like cheap tricks' "surrender" would have been much higher level in GH1.

Two or three things I don't like about GH2 (which are some of the things I already didn't like about GH1):

1. The difficulty of the songs of a certain section can be worlds apart. In GH1 the Queens of the Stone Age (the only song on medium that I cannot get a five-star rating for *sigh*) song for example is way harder than any of the other songs in the same section. So the step from easy as pie to teethgrindingly difficult is sometimes only one song.

Some of the songs are harder on lower difficulties than they are on expert (best example from GH1 is bark at the moon, which in my opinion is easier to play on expert than it is on hard).

2. Most of the songs lack the certain punch, they don't rock hard enough. I always have the feeling that the songs are a bit too soft and mellow when compared to the original. The vocals are usually the weakest part of the songs. Well one could argue that the quality of the vocals shouldn't be a concern for a game that's called guitar hero but it is one aspect of why the songs are sometimes not really spectacular. Best example "killing in the name of" in my opinion it is one of the worst songs in GH2. I like the original but the GH2 cover version just sucks compared to it. The guitars don't have the punch of the real Tom Morello and the singer never even comes close to Zack de la Rochas quality and the bass which is central to the song is just weak.

Also some of the songs are boring as hell, which brings me to the next point.

3. song selection. In GH1 the song selection was way better. In GH2 half of the songs I played are boring and I don't see that I would play them over and over again. Especially the first ten or fifteen songs (excluding the encores which are all great) are lackluster.

I also cannot quite understand why they chose certain songs. When you use a RATM song why killing in the name? It is the weakest song on the whole album. Bulls on parade, people of the sun, bombtrack, Wake up. There are plenty of choices from the debut or any other album that would have been better songs IMHO.

If Van Halen, why the Kinks cover you really got me? Why not use the original? Why not use any other half decent Van Halen song? Right now, Ain't talking bout love, hot for teacher, anything other than a stupid cover version.

The same can be said for other bands. I would have chose different Kiss or Motley crue songs for example. But that is a very subjective opinion because in GH2 there are a certain number of songs that I just hate with a passion (Cherry Pie or you really got me).

No Journey, no Metallica, no led zeppelin etc.

I liked the song selection in GH1 better than the one in GH2. GH2 has more songs but more often than not worse ones than GH1.

This might sound llike I do not like the game but that is not the case. It is as fun as the first one and I came two hours late for work today because I kept playing it until 3 a.m. but it could have been a better game if they had chosen some different songs in my opinion.

Two comments:

1)  Mine stopped working after having it for about a week.  I don't see any visible scratches on the disc.  It has about a 50% chance of just plain failing on the song select screen.

2)  Fuck you buckethead.  I'll never be able to finish that song on expert.  Not having every song finished on expert makes me cry.

3)  Where's Maiden or a decent Priest song?  I'd love to rip out some screaming for vengeance or stained class on GH.  I also kind of which they had Motorhead again.  Oh well.

4)  2=4!

You've never played the song live or been in a mosh pit when a band has played it live? In the 90s, people went batshit when that song came out. It's like a 'fuck the man' anthem. I was running sound for a band that lost a contract for playing that song, I've been ejected with about a dozen other people for moshing during it. Which is all pretty ironic. Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me, indeed.

I played this stuff (both I and II) for the first time tonight at my fam-damly T-giving dinner. I was mostly playing against my 11 year old nephew but also beating the crap out of my brother in law. Holy crap that game is fun. Makes me want to pick up my old axe and start wailing away.

Metallica you can probably blame Lars for.  They're pretty damn tight on controlling their 'ip' since all the Napster shit.  Journey I dunno, but Led probably wanted too much fucking cash for the songs.

All 3 bands are more concerned with money, imo, than entertaining folks.

The one I'm still puzzling is Hangar 18.  Yeah, one of the best Megadeth albums ever but Tornado of Souls or Lucretia were much better 'guitar' songs. Not to mention Lucretia is almost 2 mins shorter.  Hangar's 5:13. Ow, pain.

The past cannot be changed. The future is yet within your power.

Useless trivia: at our rehearsals, I'd play Hangar 18 on drums. The fills were rough, but I was pretty good otherwise. Good times.

Does anyone else end up with GH claw the day after playing?  Seriously.  I think I'm going to have to start taking a vicodin just to play the game, it's thrashing my left hand something awful.

I traded in my fun blog for several legal blogs. Or, "blawgs," as the cutesy attorney blawgosphere likes to call 'em.

Try sitting/holding the guitar a bit different. Most people I play with experience THE CLAW, but I can rock for hours and hours claw-free. I played coop last night from 10 until 2am, no breaks.

I'm up to rock this town rockin' my ass schild. I can't pull off those double notes in any song, my hand just doesn't work right. the index finger/ring finger then quickly to middle/pinky. That shit just murders me.

I think i'll have to perfect a slide method but it'll turn my brain into mush as I try to remember which buttons my fingers are on at any particular time.

We've decimated everything in the game cept Freebird. We started on expert and were up to Freebird within 72 hours of release. We haven't really tried much since. Sometimes, when we're smashed, we'll play Coop.

I just love how they shout for encores.

Whenever my wife plays now, I'll shout "Freebird!" from the other room.
